Driving Experience
Includes acceleration and handling
What Owners Say
"zippy, great handling at high speeds enjoy driving in town"
Jennifer J., TX (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Acceleration is fine for me. In EV mode the torque often spins the tires momentarily when starting from a standing stop - an annoyance. Car steers accurately and corners smoothly: it is a pleasure to drive."
Anonymous, MI (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Surprisingly peppy for a plug-hybrid. Nimble handling also. I call this a sports car for seniors ... fun to drive, and easy to get in and out."
James S., FL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"I’m able to use primarily electric power in my city driving. Cost effective and very quiet ride. Smooth as silk."
Steve S., ON (2017 Ford C-MAX)"The electric drive gives a very crisp start from a stop. Combined with the gas engine it feels quite powerful in my limited experience. The ride is quiet and very smooth, with little lean and bumps well absorbed. Very nimble."
Diane D., FL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"this car is a hybrid. the acceleration is fantastic compared to other mfr's hybrids. I complained to the dealer about the car oversteering in an emergency maneuver and they apparently fixed the problem since it never happened again. the turning radius is unusually wide. my last 3 cars, all of which were longer, made tighter u-turns, but now that i am aware of the problem, i can compensate for it. over all, driving my c-max is fun."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Acceleration AND Handling. Good MPG also!"
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Very good acceleration and very quiet"
Anonymous, OH (2017 Ford C-MAX)"For a compact car, it handles like a good-quality mid-sized car. It has really good handling, in town and on the freeway. Acceleration is crisp, and instant. I couldn't ask any more of it."
Anonymous, UT (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Given that this is not a large car, it has surprisingly good handling. And the mileage is quite good, too."
Anonymous, IL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Quick acceleration, responsive handling, solid brakes, even with five adults in the car."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Very smooth and stable ride at high speed. Turn radius is not great."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Powertrain is smooth and much more responsive than our old Prius. Handling is very good for a tall vehicle."
Donald H., MB (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Very good power for a plug-in hybrid...both acceleration and passing."
Robb R., NC (2017 Ford C-MAX)"The car accelerates surprisingly well for a Hybrid although not necessarily from a dead stop, but rather for passing. It handles well but the turning radius is a bit wide for getting in and out of tight spots."
Anonymous, IA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Secure and confidence inspiring."
Edward J., TX (2017 Ford C-MAX)"When we purchased this vehicle, I thought it would be a throw away economy car. We enjoy driving this car so much that my wife doesn't care to drive anything else we own. It isn't the fastest accelerating, but it has no issues climbing any steep grades or merging onto freeways. I don't know what Ford figured out, but I never thought a small car could ride and drive so well. We now use the C-Max for all long and short drives."
Kevin B., CA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"This car has excellent acceleration for its size and e gine."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"It has plenty of power but sometimes acts squirrelly during hard acceleration."
George E., VA (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Very responsive acceleration. Other hybrids have a noticeable and unsafe delay when accelerating from a stop."
Anonymous, FL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Passing power (gas/electric combined) is impressive. Very important on mountain highways in B.C."
Anonymous, BC (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Battery power has a lot of get up and go"
Steve K., IL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"The C-Max was a pleasant surprise in this area -- it handles quite well, with responsive acceleration. The only drawback is the POOR turning ratio."
Jon Z., IL (2017 Ford C-MAX)"Exceeded my expectations for a hybrid"
Anonymous, MI (2017 Ford C-MAX)
"I have used this car for daily freeway commuting as well as longer trips. The acceleration is amazing, and outperforms the older Prius and Nissan hydrids that I have driven."
