Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2017 Ford Edge owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

Body Integrity

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, loose or cracked seals and/or weather-stripping, air and water leaks.

What Owners Say

Air or water leaks

"The lenses across the rear lights on the liftgate and the left quarter developed leaks and began to contain condensation. The condensation became significant, partially obscuring the lights. There had been no damage to the vehicle, liftgate, or lens, and there was no explanation for the development of the leak and resulting condensation. The condensation also was aesthetically unappealing."

Cecilia L., MI (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)

"The vista rook leaked 4 times, is supposed to be fixed now...."

Anonymous, GA (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Outside rainwater leaked into the vehicle compartment on the left (driver's) side floorboard."

Larry N., WV (2017 Ford Edge Titanium 3.5-L V6)
Seals and/or weather-stripping

"This was a slow continues noise. It got louder and I had them check it over when it was in for an oil change. This said they was a cover coming loose under the hood and they needed to bolt it back on."

"Water would get into tail light housing"

Louie S., CA (2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Dashboard creaks and rattles, which began within the first year of ownership, under 2,000 miles. Also, front windshield spontaneously cracked almost all the way across while parked in driveway without history of prior crack or ding in glass. I heard the snap and watched the crack run across."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

"There was a rattle in center console whenever cup holder was in use. There was also a loud rattle from sunroof whenever we opened it. The dealership had to keep the vehicle for an entire week as they had to replace the entire sunroof assembly. Thankfully both issues covered by warranty."

Doors or sliding doors

"Driver door did not line up the hinges had to be replaced as the door was not closing properly at only 300 miles. It was as if they were not paying attention when putting the driver doors on it at all! DOnt they have any quality assurance at FORD? This is my first ford and the dealership made it like I did something wrong, when there was red X on each driver side doors, clearly there was some issue at some point they were aware of either at dealer or the plant. Locks and latches

"This issue pertains to the hood of the vehicle. The hood latch works well enough but the hood flutters on the highway with strong headwinds and pavement bumps. And when transport trucks pass on a 2 lane road the hood has actually lifted a number of times. The latch has held it from opening."

What Owners Say

Engine rebuild or replacement

"I had a minor rough idle issue that lasted for about 20 seconds when starting. I took the vehicle in to determine the problem. They found that coolant was leaking into the cylinder(s). Turbo or supercharger

"I have taken this car in three different times,to different dealers and they all say it is just the way the 2017 2.0 ford Edge runs, and they say it passes all factory tests. I have even taken them on a test drive and showed them the problem, which they all say, yes I see what you are saying, but their is nothing we can do. The problem is when you are driving and then let off of the gas, and then re-accelerate, it takes about 2 to 4 seconds to pick back up to speed. this is very dangerous and a safety issue."

Louie S., CA (2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Transmission Minor

Gear selector or linkage, leaks, transmission computer, transmission sensor or solenoid, clutch adjustment, rough shifting, slipping transmission.

What Owners Say

Rough shifting

"This transmission continually downshifts when gently pressing the gas pedal between 70-100 km/hr. You cannot drive smoothly. The engine revs and it takes a good 3-5 seconds before the next gear is selected. Totally frustrating on the highway. There is no issue in the city."

Richard B., ON (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

"Between 70-100km/hr, the transmission would hunt for the proper gear. It would downshift too early and hang on to that gear far too long. Was difficult to gently press the accelerator to increase speed without instant downshifting when it wasn't necessary. Shifting became rough as well. My Ford dealer corrected the problem and it runs fine now."

Richard B., ON (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

Transmission computer

"I had the transmission's software reprogrammed twice over 1 year, at the dealer, due to the vehicles inability to properly upshift gears between 60-100 km/hour. The transmission would downshift and hang on to that gear while you would try to accelerate."

Anonymous, ON (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)

Anonymous, FL (2017 Ford Edge SEL 3.5-L V6)
