2006 Ford F-250 Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
The F-250 is a heavy-duty truck with a 3/4-ton capacity as opposed to the 1/2 ton of the F-150. The Super Duty line was freshened for 2005 with new exterior and revised engines. The ride is stiff and bouncy, especially compared to the F-150. Ford's 6.0-liter turbodiesel packs some real punch and is fairly quiet and free of vibration. Stepping into the cabin is more difficult because of the high floor.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Handling with a heavy load results in a stable, smooth ride. (See previous)"

Jerry M., OH (2006 Ford F-250)

"bad deciel milage. good pulling power as it has a horse trailer hooked to it all the time."

W D., VA (2006 Ford F-250)

"This F250 Diesel is getting kind of old, but I have no plans to replace it any time soon. It still has all the power I could ever need to tow up to the max rating without a problem, and it looks great, people are amazed when I tell them what how old it is."

Charles C., SC (2006 Ford F-250)

"no major trouble with this 6.0L diesel. good power for hauling. "Tow/Haul" transmission feature excellent."

Harold S., TX (2006 Ford F-250)

"Gets us through mud and snow."

Lou C., VA (2006 Ford F-250)

"Very solid feel & response. Very good power."

Anonymous, AZ (2006 Ford F-250)

"I have the turbo diesel version in the crew cab 4 wheel drive body. The acceleration is brisk, on a par with a gas engine. The drive train is tight with no backlash or slop in the gearing and the auto trans shifts crisply without noise or hesitation. It drives like a substantial truck, not a light weight."

Richard E., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"Towing ability"

Lucy O., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"It is a diesel so torque depends on engine RPM. Acceleration is very good when it gets going. Response when towing is very good. The tow package is wonderful."

Robert D., AZ (2006 Ford F-250)

"Really like the acceleration of the turbo diesel."

Rebecca W., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"The Engine has enough to power to manage a 13,000# fifth wheel RV. and has excellent handling. We have experienced high gusting side winds with minor corrections, even with the high profile of the trailer."

Jerry M., OH (2006 Ford F-250)

"Over corrects in steering."

TROY S., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"The acceleration of the turbo diesel is surprisingly strong. This vehicle is very powerful."

KIM S., WI (2006 Ford F-250)

"seems doggy"

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It’s a truck and we bought it for what a truck can do- hauling stuff, getting through mud and snow, etc. Not the most comfortable or quiet ride but not what we bought it for."

Lou C., VA (2006 Ford F-250)

"comfortable seating with lots of leg and head room in front and back seats. minimal road noise. comfortable to drive. When pulling a loaded trailer the effect is minimal on driving"

Jennifer M., MD (2006 Ford F-250)

"All OK for the type of vehicle."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"Selected captains chairs, but I slide around on the seat so have to brace myself on corners. Be nice if they conformed better to the body."

Rebecca W., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"very hard & uncomfortable"

Anonymous, PA (2006 Ford F-250)

"Ride is flat and smooth with little motor noise at highway speeds--haven't had any major problems---seats are very comfortable"

CHARLIE D., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"All as expected from a 3/4 Diesel pickup"

WARREN C., MD (2006 Ford F-250)

"Great visibility, good mirror placement, excellent trailer towing"

BYRON S., TX (2006 Ford F-250)

"The a/c and heat work great. Even for how old the truck is getting, the climate control is still working really well."

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Ford has been the #1 seller of ford pick-ups for over 30 years--That speaks for its-self"

CHARLIE D., CA (2006 Ford F-250)

"The Value was good over all, there was an issue with the turbo (while under warranty) that required towing,--twice. The upholstery soils easily and is hard to clean without getting rings. The power is quite adequate to tow a 6-1/2 ton 5th wheel,"

JERRY M., OH (2006 Ford F-250)

"It does exactly what you want it to do, turn the key and tow whatever is in the trailer, no problems. It actually rides better under a load."

CHARLES C., SC (2006 Ford F-250)

"The vehicle is outstanding and has been a great workhorse. It has about 114,000 miles and still going strong with minimal problems."

LARRY F., AZ (2006 Ford F-250)

"I bought it for a work truck. I use it as a work truck. It performs well as a work truck. It is not a car. I don't expect it to ride and handle like a car. It is not a 'cowboy cadillac'. It does it's job which is hauling. That makes me happy."

RAYMOND S., VA (2006 Ford F-250)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Suits my needs. Roomy Good field of vision not to fancy for work or play"

MIKE B., NC (2006 Ford F-250)

"Cloth seats show water stains from very beginning. No way to not have unsightly stained upholstery even when immaculately clean."

BARRETT H., YT (2006 Ford F-250)
