What Owners Say
"The passenger side door developed a leak several years ago. Two dealerships insisted it was a blocked cowl, a common problem with these cars but someone finally figured out it was a problem with the pillar behind the door frame and loose seals"
Anonymous, FL (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"Since the month after this car dropped out of the warranty period, the drain that allows water to pass through the cowl area has blocked. This caused water to pool inside the cowl. One year when I put the car into winter storage (unheated garage), the water in the cowl froze and broke apart the wiper assembly and wiper motor. After that was fixed, each year the wiper plug corrodes and has to be cleaned or repaired. Also, the laying water caused a hole to rust on the firewall side of the cowl"
Anonymous, PA (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"Coolant leak around thermostat."
Anonymous, SC (2005 Ford Mustang Deluxe 4.0-L V6)"It leaks around the seals that latch top to windshield by sides of car, caused by heavy water pressure - ie washing the car or heavy rain."
Anonymous, NJ (2005 Ford Mustang Premium 4.0-L V6)"convertible roof leaked"
Anonymous, FL (2005 Ford Mustang 4.0-L V6)"Water leak in front passenger"
Anonymous, MO (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"When it rains, water leaks into the cabin through a rust hole in the cowl, below the windshield wiper motor, and into the passenger side, pouring directly over the fuse box. Vehicle can only be driven in fair weather, and is 100 percent garaged for the past 10 years. It is a very good looking piece of furniture. Also, filling it with gasoline is a pain...the fuel dispenser spout must be held upside down while filling with fuel due to a defect in a safety feature built into the gasoline tank."
Anonymous, PA (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"Back windows on both sides at different times, opened and then would not reclose. When repaired they did not reclose tightly causing water to leak into the car during rain."
Anonymous, (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"Water leaks into passenger side compartment from frequently obstructed windshield drain"
Anonymous, OH (2005 Ford Mustang Unsure 4.0-L V6)"Some of the weather striping has come off around the passenger side windows"
Anonymous, CA (2005 Ford Mustang 4.0-L V6)"Wasn't diagnosed for several years but water was coming out the speaker in the door panel. Finally attributed to damaged/leaky pillar and deal seals and replaced, costing several hundred dollars each time"
Anonymous, FL (2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6-L V8)"Leaks at the window seals caused the interior door covering to peel off."
Robert M., OK (2005 Ford Mustang 4.0-L V6)"when the doors open/close, the window automatically snaps down/up a half inch in order to seal the top of the window with the a- and b-beam and roof; when the battery dies or is not hooked up, the window gets stuck under the seal and the seal becomes very unstable and leaky once it has to be ripped open. Owners are not warned or told this, so if you are like me and store the car yearly with no battery, I learned to leave the window down a half inch before storing the car for winter. Also when I open the trunk after it rains, water leaks from the trunk lid into the middle of the trunk. The car is like a sieve. It will be a fairweather classic soon."
