Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Handling and quality of the gear shift are sporty. Steering has little feedback, however. For a small SUV it drives like a car."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Now that i getting some miles on the vehicle acceleration is getting much better ,very little droning and very good handling."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Excellent handling"

Anonymous, PA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"very good"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"LOVE the car, doesn't drive like a small car at all, very peppy' great mileage"

James B., WV (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The car is a joy to drive...handling and comfort."

Margie D., OH (2018 Honda HR-V)

"handling is fine but motor is underpowered making for slow acceleration and higher fuel consumption than I expected. The HRV has the same fuel consumption than the CRV."

Anonymous, QC (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The acceleration is adequate The handling is quite good, and the vehicle changes direction well, being able to be thrown around quite easily, but is still quite stable in a straight line on the highway. The engine noise on rapid acceleration is a little busy and is the same at high speed on the highway, but it is not loud enough to be off-putting. Steering is good, and sway on sharp turning is more than adequate for a vehicle in this class. As far as its ultimate G-force limit in rapid handling is concerned, I really can't tell you as we've had no real emergency maneuvering to do, but, by the seat of my pants, I think it would be good for a little SUV. Braking is OK with decent feel. Overall, the handling is all I could expect out of a vehicle in its class."

David F., MI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I am happy with most everything but the location of the device plugins which is awkward and the cup holders . Oh yes it would be good to have more storage space and place for trash. Ok Trash may busily but i think necessary."

Anonymous, MD (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Typical Honda. Great for the price"

John B., RI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Very good gas mileage and fun to drive."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Honda HR-V)

"love this car"

George P., OH (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Handling is great. A little underpowered, but not a deal reaker. Good driving position. Lots of storage space. Bigger than a hatchback, but not as big as a full size SUV. Seats 5 with plenty of head and leg room."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"It is more than adequate for the average driver driving in a city environment."

James C., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"It's very comfortable when driving on long trips (500 miles or more); seats adjust nicely and plenty of room in back for luggage, etc. It's smaller than CRV and fits me nicely."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"i wish that honda offered power sets with the model (ex-l navi) i bought."

Paul L., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The seats are comfortable, the vehicle is quiet and the ride is smooth."

Anonymous, ID (2018 Honda HR-V)

"very poor suspension. Bumpy going over small holes."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Vehicle is roomy and very easy to get in and of, seats are comfortable, there is little internal/external noise and the ride is very responsive and stable"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Honda still needs to work on road noise and I do not like the lack of front seat adjustment nor do I like the front seat floor boards."

Anonymous, HI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The seats are fine, but I really think the driver's seat should be power. The seat adjustments are not easy to make so generally you just put up with where the seat is set. If the seat was power adjustable you could easily and save move it to be more comfortable. They should scrap the “paddle Shifters‿ that few people use and add a power seat. I also found out as I was driving home from picking the car up from the dealer as the sun was going down and blinding me - the visors leave a large gap forces you to change position to be able to safely drive in sun glare conditions."

Charleen L., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"noise is terrible as is the ride"

George P., OH (2018 Honda HR-V)

"very comfortable"

Roland' S M., ME (2018 Honda HR-V)

"my wife has MS and has limited mobility. she needs a walker to get around. The HR-V, compared to the Accord, is much easier for her to enter and exit and the additional cargo space provides room for her walker and cane while still leaving sufficient space for laundry or groceries."

Gary G., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The ride is choppy due to the short wheel base. The rear seats are very versatile and I love the keyless entry."

Heather P., AB (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The ride is smooth and quiet on all road surfaces. My wife is short and even with her arthritis, she is easily able to slide right into the passenger seat."

Robert M., ON (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Uncomfortable for long distances travel, more than an hour or two. Wind noise, especially with factory roof racks."

Paul C., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The seats are very comfortable, both in the front and the back. The ride is also comfortable. The noise level is a lot quieter than the 2005 Honda Civic LX sedan we had. One thing I don't like are the headrests for the front seats. As I am short (5' 1"), I feel like the headrest pushes my head forward."

Anonymous, HI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Much quieter than I thought it would be and leather seats are quite comfortable"

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda HR-V)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Lots of usable storage. Roomy cab, seat height well above oncoming headlight beams. Smooth ride. Dependable reputation."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The value of this vehicle is excellent. For a 4-wheel drive SUV with excellent amenities for its class, the price was very good. And, the vehicle delivers on all the categories I used to evaluate the process to choose it. My wife wanted a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive SUV with hatch back, loved her last car - a Honda Fit, especially its very useful, multiple back seat configurations that the HR-V shares, wanted very good mileage for a all wheel drive and the higher seating position of an SUV, all at a price in the very low $20,000.00 range. The HR-V was it."

David F., MI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The Honda HR-V accommodated my driving and budget needs. As a retiree on a tight budget, leasing this car was affordable, dependable, and has excellent gas mileage."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Great value. It could use more/larger storage compartments in the front."

Anonymous, WI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Good value for the money"

Michael R., TN (2018 Honda HR-V)

"very comfortable, great gas mileage"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I am paying to much for the monthly lease. Did not get enough miles per year on the lease."

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Honda HR-V)

"It does everything well. Fun to drive, great gas mileage, lots of room inside. Very happy I leased it."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Honda HR-V)

"It does not have several things my previous vehicle had; tilt steering wheel, electronic seat adjustments, and inside trunk release."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"For both initial purchase price and total cost of ownership, there was no other comparable small vehicle with ground clearance and a manual transmission. The switch to the HR-V was heavily influenced by my experience with my last Honda providing 10 years of reliable service."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I think this car is a fantastic value for the money."

John D., CA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Excellent vehicle for the money."

Anonymous, PA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"It is a well built ,great mileage and all around great vehicle to drive !!"

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda HR-V)

"It's a great car for females...if a male is tall (6' or above) it might not be as comfortable but my son-in-law who is 6'3" had no problem. I love the way the rear seats fold down flat or stand up to put taller items in car without damage. It is truly a great car."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Honda is a good company and this car has a good track record. The HRV is comfortable, has good storage and was fairly priced. However, it does not get the mileage promised, which is one of the reasons I bought it, has a convoluted navigation system that doesn't allow for easy input of destination nor recommends the best route (as opposed to Google maps), came in a limited and full choice of colors, and is already starting after 9 months to make creaking sounds in the suspension."

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I feel this vehicle is a very good value, relative to the other AWD compact SUVs on the market."

Craig P., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I used the CR buying service and got a very favorable price fo my vehicle."

James C., NY (2018 Honda HR-V)

"I,ve had a Toyota Rev 4 for many years and this car is better"

Roland' S M., ME (2018 Honda HR-V)

"The door panel materials are disgrace to the Honda brand."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda HR-V)

"Interior and exterior appearance is outstanding, more utility features than expected , in comparison to the LX model the EX version provides far more value for the money, overall comfort of the vehicle from standpoint of entering and exiting vehicle, especially for elderly people."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda HR-V)
