The Honda Odyssey is a well-rounded vehicle whose engine and transmission work well together. Handling is agile, secure and aided by a standard electronic stability control. The interior is crafted nicely and is versatile with a split-folding third-row seat. Road noise is somewhat pronounced.

What Owners Say

"We bought this 2006 Odyssey in 2011 when it was 5 years old, and had 102K miles on it. It drives and rides ALMOST as good as did our 2000 Lincoln Town Car. In first four years of driving I only needed to replace the battery. The turn around ratio is incredible. The steering is the best of any auto I have owned. I am 77-yrs-old, and drive it 615 miles non-stop (except gas stops), and it does not tire me (when virtually EVERYTHING else does.) The smooth steering, seating back support, cruise contr"

"Best vehicle I have ever had in regard to comfort and drivability"

R N., AZ (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"This vehicle accelerates very well and the ride is very sporty. fast turns are a non-event as the suspension is very good, not allowing any lean. The car is very maneuverable, able to turn quite tight, and the view out the windows is very good."

Anonymous, LA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Excellent power and handling. Love how it drives on long trips."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"It handles more like a sedan than a mini-van, and is very easy to maneuver."

Patrice A., TX (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"The acceleration is decent for a big vehicle. The downside is that since the van is front wheel drive, brisk acceleration can lead to a loss of traction on the front wheels. This can be problematic when trying to turn into traffic on a highway from a dead stop. The handling is actually decent for a big car. It will take turns with much more speed than you would expect and doesn't get too rattled with sudden direction changes. It can feel a little "tippy" on faster downhill sharp turns, but it still manages to stay composed."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Very good...power steering could be better Only complaint Power steering could be vastly improved..Dealer lies and says "all drive the same???not true Friends Honda drives without any effort ??"

Robert L., NC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

Tim C., AZ (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Long term investment"

Anonymous, FL (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"V-6 acceleration is good, except would be better if all wheel drive was available. With 2 wheel drive wheel spin is a problem especially on wet roads. Also the brakes take a lot of pedal pressure compared to my CRV."

"I have owned this car for a while now and put over 100k miles on it with all types of driving. I have had no "major" issues with the car. The downsides are the DVD controls which are manageable but a bit confusing if you don't use them often, and the cabin has always been a bit noisier at highway speeds than we like."

JOSEPH H., CT (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Rides extremely well, much like a European sedan. You would not realize you are in a minivan if you did not see the outside, it does not behave as such. I have owned several other minivans, this one is actually fun to drive. Climate control is a bit weak in the heat of the gulf south. The seats are very comfortable, ride is quiet."

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"We paid $35,000 for the loaded, leather seat and sunroof model. I has 200,000 miles on it and still runs very well and looks great. It has never let us down. It burns a little too much oil now, but otherwise it is like new."

MAUREEN K., OK (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Don't buy the 2006 Touring because the PAX run flat tires cost $1,500 a set, last half the time of regular tires, and cause lots of steering wheel vibration if they're not aligned and balanced just right. I think I would have been satisfied with a different trim line of the 06 Odyssey."

AMY M., OH (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Fits 7 people very comfortably, easy access in and out of the rear compartment. Lots of cup holders, just wish they were deeper for my 24oz water bottle."

JUAN MARCOS L., FL (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"We bought this car used, from a private seller. We've had it for 3 years now and have had no need for repairs of any kind, though I believe there was one recall that required an inspection. Otherwise it has been great."

"Very reliable and value added vehicle for travel."

The rear driver's side door is broken, won't open or close without force. The front bumper is falling off from the underside. All without notice as nothing was hit or misused."

C F., MD (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"I am usually satisfied with the Odyssey, but this one I believe had issues from the beginning and my Husband calls it a lemon. It went into service for many items, as opposed to previous Odysseys. ( This is my 3rd)"

"Excellent vehicle. No major issues. Only issue was that the DVD player failed year 3 and due to my high mileage usage (which has nothing to do with the DVD player) it was out of warranty. did not get to enjoy this feature the rest of the time owning the vehicle as it was $1,000 to replace and by the time they tore out the dash and system was close to the same to repair."

"Honda did a fine job in the creature comfort and family hauling dept. The AC required several replacements of condenser, location at risk in front just above road put it in harms way from inevitable road debris. Not handled well by dealer or Honda managers."

ROBERT B., MI (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"We have the run flat tires which are expensive and don't last for very many miles. And there is no ability to replace them with reasonably priced tires."

EDUARDO B., PA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"The value of this vehicle appears pricy. This is probably due to the number of electrical gadgets the vehicle is equipped with."

TREVOR H., ON (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Until I had to replace them, I didn't know this model has a special type of tires that are extremely expensive. I understand they DO NOT put these tires on any more."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Well worth the money for the entry level van. Very dependable vehicle for the last 12 years."

Martin T., NC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Great family vehicle for the price. Can carry my family of 6 plus all of our gear for a long trip. Gas mileage is great, too."

Anonymous, TX (2006 Honda Odyssey)

Anonymous, NJ (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Very good value. Repairs are rare. It has always run well. can probably keep it on the road for quite a while longer."

Anonymous, MA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"The car drives quite nicely for it's size. The acceleration is surprisingly good, and after 150k miles, it's still a pleasant drive. The car has needed very little maintenance. Because of it's utility, I plan on keeping it for years to come."

Royce H., MD (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"All I've ever done is routine maintenance and had no other problems. Never broke down. I replaced timing belt 3 years later than I was supposed to. Car runs great. I felt the car was good value because of this quality. However now 12 years old, the car's resale value is crazy low. I guess I'll keep it..."

Robert L., CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Vehicle has been extremely versatile and reliable."

Anonymous, VA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"226000 miles and relatively few repairs"

"Good price for very comfortable, dependable family car"

Anonymous, NC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"I think the Odyssey was a good deal for what we paid. At the time it had all of the features we wanted and more. We thought the price was not out of line and in some cases it was cheaper than comparable vehicles from other manufacturers."

Anonymous, CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Compared to the 1999 Odyessey, this is "head and shoulders better. We are having engine problems now and will not repair the vehicle due to age and mileage. However, we have not had any problems with the transmission, catalytic converter, or radio. We replaced the catalytic converter and transmission twice each. The 2006 has been a delight."

Anonymous, SC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"The car is a battleaxe. It just runs and runs. Although it drives more like a schoolbus than a car, you can fill it with tons of people, stuff, or both. We have had this car for 12 years, and though it requires a little more maintenance, it still runs like a charm."

Louis W., NY (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"We've had this Honda for 12 years besides normal maintenance the only repairs we had to do were CVJoints and replace the alternator. Thereby its a great value."

John R., FL (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Worth every penny. We have the EX-L model which came with Leather seats (a requirement)."

Thomas C., VA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"This car hasn't had any problems in 180,000 miles. The only things that we have done to it is the standard maintenance, tires and timing belt."

Jeffrey A., WA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Great ride. Very versatile"

Anonymous, NJ (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"The value comes in later as to not need to go to the shop all the time. Neighbors with Chrysler minivans are in the shop all the time. Paid more for it vs comparible Chrysler, but it paid off in reliability...."

"Price to high for value"

Anonymous, NC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Vehicle has been very reliable with reasonable mileage."

Anonymous, AL (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Much better engine, transmission, and catalytic converter than my 1999 Odyessey"

Anonymous, SC (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Versatile and comfortable. Although this model does not simply fold down the middle seats, the fold under rear seat and removable middle seats make for expansive storage space. Having the captains chairs for middles seats makes for excellent traveling where children have their individual space. Great for family travel and team sport events."

David F., KY (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Four expensive sliding door failures to date. Air conditioner system major refrigerant leak -- not worth cost of repair. Torque converter a disaster and near failure -- way too expensive to repair. Short in one circuit -- can use door locks or the one sliding door that still works. GREAT vehicle for transporting people and materials."

"Awesome value"

Anonymous, TX (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Few problems in 11 years of owning the van. Reliable and comfortable."

J J., CO (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Versatility is the key word. Carrying passengers or cargo are done easily. I don't need a truck to haul things. I don't need to rent a car to pick up wising families. Seats can be easily configured. Amazingly versatile car."

Susan S., MD (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Funtionality, performance and reliability are great"

Larry P., MI (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Electric side doors were not well engineered and have given us a lot of trouble."

Robert O., IN (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Fantastic family hauler. Our 2006 Odyseey has been used and abused by 5 rambunctious family members. It just keeps on running with grace. There have been some expensive rpairs, but in 11 years the total is very small."

William T., CA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Good value with few if any problems."

Donald H., OH (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"1-The slope of the hood makes it very difficult to just distance between the car or object in front of you. 2-My car alarm frequently goes off with no reason. I have had in for repair twice with no improvement. I have seldom locked my car in past 3 yrs due to this. NOT SAFE!"

Anonymous, WA (2006 Honda Odyssey)

"Looks good especially since it has been well looked after, i.e. maintenance, waxing & polishing, Car hugs the road since tires are on a slight angle."

Anonymous, ON (2006 Honda Odyssey)
