The Odyssey's redesign isn't revolutionary, but Honda still made big improvements to its power, fuel economy, ride, and cabin quietness. It offers more features to pamper travelers and keep them connected. The overall result is a premium feel. Inside, passengers will find the front seats large and inviting, but the bottom cushion loses firmness over long trips.

Ralph F., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"This van drives like a car and handles like one as well. Acceleration is excellent."

Jeff H., TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Rolls a little in turns"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Great car, drives like smaller Accord, holds a ton of stuff . Great mpg for minivan."

Mark G., OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Have experienced some lack of smoothness of transmission from a stop or at low speeds, as others have noted. Very smooth at highway speeds."

Anonymous, MI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Best handling minivan. Tried the others."

Roy B., NC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very peppy acceleration .Handles great for a van"

Charles R., WI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Transmission shifts too many times especially from stop. Engine RPMs rev very high in 1st and 2nd gear."

W P., MI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"safety features"

Anonymous, KY (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"power, acceleration and it handles more like a sports car."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Coarse engine above 3000 rpm. Too light steering with no road feel. Dangerous when combined with difficult to and unresponsive touch screen, especially for seniors."

Anonymous, ON (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I'm not thrilled with the shifting system. There seems to be a delay after you push the button. I'm afraid that delay could cause an accident. I don't like the system at all."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"It hesitates when first put foot on gas pedal. Unsafe when you have to accelerate quickly. Do want to mention about the use of soy-based plastic over wires which mice and other rodents seem to like. Not warranteed by Honda. Had to spend $2600 replacing the harness and wires because of this."

Marcia J., AZ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"My main issue with the vehicle is the way the it accelerates. It does not seem very smooth and it seems race in the lower gears."

Fred S., NJ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"My only complaint is that the second row right seat headrest blocks my view when looking back over my right shoulder. Solved by removing the headrest."

Bruce A., MN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Smooth transmission. Powerful engine. Handles with agility and excellent feel of the road. Can be driving turnpike speed, hit accelerator, and van takes off!"

Ken R., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Drives and accelerates well"

Anonymous, NJ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Easy driving"

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Love the electronic steering, eco mode is great but really affects initial acceleration which you don't know until you are trying to accelerate and it is suggish, quite ride, peace of mind with all the safety options to help when driving"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The V-6 engine gets excellent mileage for such a large and heavy vehicle, but acceleration is surprisingly fast when called upon. It simply drives and handles like a much smaller vehicle. Of course, despite that, this is a heavy, long, tall, and relatively softly sprung vehicle, so it doesn't handle like a sports car, but it does handle better than anyone could expect, given those considerations. The steering is ever so slightly vague, not bad by any stretch and much better than most other large vehicles I've driven, but probably the only less than excellent element of its handling."

David F., MI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"plenty of power for carrying six golfers. Light steering which I like."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Smooth driving, quiet and handles well on the road"

Daniel C., OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Speed control hard to work - IF we can get to work"

Anonymous, AR (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Love the lane assist and active cruise control"

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Best road car we have ever owned."

Anonymous, GA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Unlike other minivans and larger SUVs we tested or have been passengers in, the Odyssey drives like a car and feels far more responsive than move vehicles this size."

Anonymous, AB (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Remarkable acceleration in my opinion. Feel of confidence in passing. Handles much like previous Accord. Stable ride. Outside noise lower that previous Hondas. Depending on road, can be noisier than I would like."

Anonymous, MS (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"It has a powerful engine to get you in and out of traffic when needed."

Alan W., MN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Smooth and quiet."

Anonymous, SC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I love that it identifies vehicles in your blind spot. It tells you if you're over the line. It also has great acceleration."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very smooth ride. Quiet engine compared to my 2014."

Anonymous, TN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Love the Econ mode to save gas and the stop engine feature. Even in Econ mode, acceleration is more than adequate. Odyssey's have always handled like a sedan."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"very pleased with the 10 speed transmission."

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Handling and acceleration are very good. The backup camera has an excellent wide view, and a straight down mode to see the bumper of the car behind me when parallel parking. The blind spot light and shaking steering wheel when out of lane are great aides to safe driving along with cruise control. The self steering mode does not stay engaged for very long."

Anonymous, SC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The transmission starts in a much lower gear than needed for most driving. It does not accelerate like the older 5 speed transmissions. Once it is past the first 3 gears, it acts much better. The software that controls the start from dead stop needs to be better."

Anonymous, IA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"excellent acceleration and ride for a car of this size."

John P., OR (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very sure footed on the road. I much prefer the acceleration when the efficiency mode is not engaged. When efficiency mode is on, acceleration is sluggish."

Mark A., NJ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Acceleration at low speed in a turn at a corner overwhelms the front wheel drive. It s well past time for Honda to offer 4 wheel drive in the Odyssey, particularly since it is built on the same foundation as the Pilot. I also would like more power at highway speeds particularly at higher altitudes. Honda is a little late to the turbo charged party."

Larry F., NM (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The van drives very easily it is responsive has a good turning radius. The safety features are a great addition we use them all. In eco mode I have averaged 27 mpg on trips n don’t notice any issues with acceleration or driving through the mountains. The addition horsepower they added is great the van has all the power you need when fully loaded"

Gary C., OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"While I like the acceleration quite a bit (and the fantastic sound of the engine), the steering itself is disappointing, since it is very light and lacks feedback. While I knew this when buying the minivan, I still find it one of the biggest low-points of the vehicle."

Cyril C., WI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"ZF transmission and cylinder deactivation do not work together. When starting from a stop, you either crawl like a snail or scream away like a rabbit. Other times you’re not running on all cylinders but the transmission thinks you are."

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"push button transmission, regular and sport driving mode, ability to put car in a "hold mode" when sitting in a line of traffic and take your foot off the brake, excellent acceleration when needed such as merging on to an interstate highway or expressway."

Robert H., AR (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"VERY GOOD ACCELERATION AND HANDLING"

Anonymous, IA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"it accelerates and steers well for a mini-van"

Peter M., MD (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I like adaptive cruise control, while my wife would prefer more immediate response."

Scott M., AR (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"When the Lane Keeping Assist System detects that I am getting too close to the lane line, it seems to grab the steering, keeping me on the line. I have to use extra force to steer away from the line."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The 10 speed automatic is amazing! It drives and accelerates like a sports sedan not a minivan. Amazing."

Brian P., OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Handling and safety alerts"

Barry C., OR (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"great handling for a minivan, great acceleration"

Anonymous, DE (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"When I purchased the car I did not know that it had an electrical transmission system with 9 gears. The shifting is not smooth and has some irregular shifting that the dealer is unable to fix."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I really like the 10-speed tranny. It shifts very smoothly. I did not also buy a Honda Pilot because their 9-speed xxxxxx is poor shifting with its hesitation with every shift and also the delay when stomping down on the gas to pass someone."

Anthony K., NY (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Handles well for a minivan I guess. No complaints."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"280 hp, acceleration like a rocket, handles quite well"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"We live in a mountainous and northern location. This car has low ground clearance, and frequently high centers and gets stuck in snow. It's handling in snow is barely acceptable with good studded now tires. Acceleration is good."

Kendall F., MT (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Acceleration and Handling are fine, the lane departure autocruise I do not like and have shut them off. Too distracting."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Love the Honda Sensing safety features: collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot protection, and lane keeping assist system."

Emmy J., PA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Great, catlike handling."

Anonymous, AL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Easy to drive and great acceleration"

James G., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"This van is not slow. It has more than adequate 50-80 acceleration for getting past that left lane hog when they finally decide to get over. It does have a higher center of gravity than a sedan, however the handling is more sporty than the other vans we tested."

Jonathan L., VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The van is very smooth on the majority of road surfaces. The pick up for acceleration is great on the highway for merging and passing. When using sport mode and using the paddle shifters is very good and power comes on very quick. This is probably due to the 10 speed auto as well. This vehicle drives like a sedan not a 8 passenger van"

Anonymous, BC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Enough power."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The auto stop and the eco mode take some getting use to. But, I like them."

Anonymous, MO (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The 10 speed transmission shifts smoothly and pulls strongly. I've owned a Honda S2000 and the steering feel in my 2018 Odyssey shows lessons Honda learned building the S2000."

Evan P., CA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"We are not sure at this point concerning the 9 speed transmission as it seems to rev up pretty much when going from a stop. We are experiencing oil usage in the first 3000 miles and wonder if the revving on the engine in the lower gears is overworking the engine. Jury still out on this."

Anonymous, IN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Really like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"For a minivan, excellent handling, acceleration, driving... wow. I'm really surprising how spritely it feels."

Juhan S., MA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very slow to accelerate after a full stop; the vehicle goes into a very quiet idle and does not respond quickly when foot is off the brake and gas applied. Rough idle on "normal" idle, and goes to sleep during what I call its "Prius idle". I do NOT like this. Also hate the pushbutton transmission."

Robert S., NC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"very smooth, great handling and acceleration"

Anonymous, CA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Ease of steering with electronic steering while keeping excellent feel of the road. Steering is so much easier than our 2007 Odyssey."

What Owners Say

"very pleased with seat comfort and quiet interior while driving."

Anonymous, NC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Outstanding especially on long trips"

Ken M., ON (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Seats are very comfortable for long car rides. Seats are deep enough to support backs of thighs near the knees. They are also plenty wide. Our family takes multiple 750-1500 mile road trips a year."

Emmy J., PA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Incredibly smooth and enjoyable ride. Noise is at a minimum. Makes for an enjoyable road trip. After a long road trip, I noticed the comfort of front seats could improve significantly. Something about the construction of the bottom seat that made it hard to stay comfortable for long periods."

Michael P., WI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I enjoy the quiet interior, the smooth drive."

Anonymous, NJ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very comfortable seats, smooth and quiet ride."

James G., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"While the cloth front seats are pretty comfortable, the second row seats are much less comfortable. The armrests are very narrow and the seatbelts are a little low, cutting into some adults' shoulders."

Cyril C., WI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Seating is very comfortable and easy to reconfigure as my needs change"

Anonymous, AL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"We replaced a 2004 Honda Odyssey with the 2018. The comfort level is greatly improved and makes long trips much less tiring. My wife did not even want to look at anything other than the Odyssey. She loves the driving position and the performance. Our 2004 was incredibly reliable."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"This car is amazing. It is amazingly quiet and such a nice ride."

Rajeeb D., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very comfortable seats with quiet cabin."

Ken R., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"seats are firm but comfortable, noise levels are much better than previous Hondas. Overall, a higher quality auto."

Richard W., KS (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Very easy and comfortable to drive. Handles effortlessly and seats eight adults with comfort."

Mark A., NJ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Seats are terrific for both short and long trips; no soreness of discomfort ensues, with good support. Driving position is very good - relatively upright with good access to most controls and excellent line of sight to outside environment. Interior noise at speed is subjectively the best I've experienced, short of a true luxury sedan. The ride is definitely improved over my 2014 Odyssey, is about as good as it gets in a vehicle of this class and the handling is outstanding for such a large and tall vehicle. Finally, the Honda sensing safety features make daily, and especially especially long distance, driving safer and more relaxing."

David F., MI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Seats are wonderfully comfortable. Car is quiet. Ride is very smooth."

Jason R., IL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The seating arrangement is so versatile. Middle row seats move sideways giving so many options for people or cargo.."

B T., OK (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"All of the seats are very comfortable. The driver and front passenger seats are especially comfortable with the air cooling feature."

Kenneth H., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Driver comfort is exceptional with adjustable lumbar support, heated seats and adjustable right arm rest. Our second Odessey purchased especially because of long trip experience."

Bruce A., MN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Driver's seat is extremely uncomfortable. The lumbar support is too high and does not seem to move with the up and down control. We had the dealer take the seat apart (he agreed there seemed to be a problem). However, they said nothing was wrong. The lumbar support was performing as intended."

Sherri L., AB (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The ability to adjust the seats in the middle row provides flexibility for carrying passengers or cargo."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Road noise seems quiet, apparently due to extra gears on Elite trim model. I personally find all Honda Odyssey seats uncomfortable to me (3 different Odysseys over 10 years). Our newest 2018 Odyssey has underwhelming air conditioning performance... I am thinking it might need repair. Anyway, we like the Odysseys overall."

Anonymous, IA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Just as smooth and comfortable as our previous Lincoln Town Car. But the Ergonomics of the 2018 Honda Odyssey are inferior to our 2008 Honda Odyssey."

J M., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Comfortable to drive and has a lot of safety features."

Alan W., MN (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"1. Hot air from the A/C vent With the car idling after being driven for some 15 minutes, the A/C off, the fresh air on (rather than air being recirculated), and the temperature control set at the lowest setting (“Lo‿), the air blown in through the vents reaches around 90 degrees, even when the outside temperature is 58 degrees. I tested with two different thermometers. The service department at the dealer returned the car to me with the comment: “all working as design no modifications can be made.‿ Honda’s central customer service department, on 11/12/17, restated this position. This is the way the car is designed and nothing can be done about it. To be clear, I have no complaint against the dealer’s service department. I am convinced that they would help me if they could, but they can’t modify the design of the car. 2. The driver’s arm rest The right-side armrest of the driver’s seat is attached to the side of the backrest and can be positioned at a 90-degrees angle to the backrest or higher. With the backrest tilted back, which is the comfortable angle for me, the armrest then sticks up at a very uncomfortable angle. For me, it is unusable. Again, Honda’s response is that this is the way the car is designed and it cannot be helped. 3. I cannot remove the second-row seat. Although the third-row seats fold into the floor, the second-row seats do not. They are billed as removable. Perhaps they are, for a weight lifter, but are definitely too heavy for me to remove. 4. The console screen The console screen, where most of the interaction with the car takes place, is made of smudge magnet glass. One must keep touching the screen, and after a short time, with sunlight shining directly on it, the screen is covered with enough smudges to make reading it impossible. 5. The sunglass holder When the sunglass holder above the driver is open, the bottom of the holder is parallel to the floor. There is no barrier to stop the glasses from slipping out and falling down, which they often do."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"It's really comfortable on long rides."

Dale P., CA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The 2018 Odyssey is pretty quiet for a minivan. The infotainment system with the Touring trim works very well, had no issues sync'ing with my Android phone via Bluetooth and through USB. Able to display both Google Maps and Waze from my phone onto the display. The implementation of the NAV from Garmin is below average, can't turn-off auto zoom function, and after automatically zooming in at intersections, it doesn't automatically return to the previous zoom scale, can be quite annoying keep zooming back out after every turn. The sound quality is very good. The drive seat is very comfortable with plenty of adjustability for most people. The front passenger seat fit me very well (5'-10") but the seat cushion was ~1" too high for my wife (5'-3"), tiring her thighs longer trips. The vehicle has large numbers of connections for charging USB devices, HDMI port for displaying content on rear screen, 120V AC outlet could be used for charging laptops, 12V outlets for other automotive accessories. The ride of the vehicle is OK, good at absorbing bumps at cruising speed but not so good at absorbing low speed bumps. There a 4 sun shades for all rear passengers, they are a nice touch on hot Summer days. The A/C system works well, except when the autostop system kick in at every stop light, it would be nice if there was a way to permanently disable the autostop system... Also, the laser cruse control decelerate too quickly whenever a vehicle merge in front of you."

Stan W., CA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Front and back seats are supportive and very comfortable for long trips (sometimes for 10 driving hours/day). Driver seat has many more adjuctment than passenger's seat. Would opt for next-level trim to give passenger more options."

"They removed the camera in the right side passenger mirror (lane watch) feature, put in blind spot Monitor - the piston of the right side is not in my normal field of view. Evan P., CA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"We owned the last generation 2012 Odyssey (Touring) and the 2018 Elite model is much more comfortable and quiet to drive."

"Seats are great. Ride is very nice and the noise is surprisingly low for a boxy vehicle."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"We traded a 2012 Odyssey for the 2018 mostly because the 18 is quieter on the road."

What Owners Say

"We had a 2009 Ford Expedition EL which we bought used, we loved the 2018 Ford Expedition MAX, but were not willing to pay 80k for the features that we we wanted. We used our Warehouse membership to save almost 7k off the price of the vehicle and feel in the end that the operating costs of the Honda Odyssey will be much lower than the Expedition MAX"

Jonathan L., VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The Odyssey is a great vehicle What detracts from the value is all the new fangled electronic safety features; Lane holding, Road departure, cruise control following another vehicle. These items are not ready for prime time. They are, in some cases, UNSAFE ! THus reducing the value of an otherwise great vehicle. I am happy when driving with all this safety features turned OFF."

"value was good compared to other vehicles with the same options"

Barry S., MA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"It is dependably a Honda. Safe, comfortable, drives very crisply."

Richard W., KS (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The Honda Odyssey is overall a very good value. It has some wonderful features, looks great, the ride is awesome and the value is worth it."

"Very satisfied with the overall quality and features of this car especially compared to other competitive offers."

Victor B., MA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Almost bought a two year old Honda Odyssey both cars were very similar."

"Safety systems that were passive on my 2015 Odyssey are active on the 2018 for about the same money"

J B., ON (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I felt like the dealer saw me coming. They did not give me what I thought my trade in was worth and would not work with me. In hindsight I feel I made a mistake buying from West County Honda in St. Louis. The business manager was very pushy and did a very poor job of explaining my options."

Chris S., MO (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I had to pay full asking price"

"Car does not have a CD Player. I have a lot of CD . I miss this feature. If I know it did not come with this I would not have gotten this car."

Lawrence S., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The need to use a cellphone to play the GPS is terribly unhandy and added experience. Failed to realize there is Not a disk player."

"5 Stars or whatever is similar. I drive 3,500 or more miles monthly and frequently take muti-day trips. Good gas mileage, comfortable, plenty of room for two Basset Hounds and all their and my gear. Honda does need to offer AWD."

Bruce B., CO (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"worth the money"

"Used your buying service. Found that the internet sales staff at dealerships didn't know what the agreed upon price was. I had to tell them, and accidentally used a price offer of $700 off list from one dealer in figuring what the price was supposed to be at another dealer, who agreed to it. So I got a price $700 better than the CR price was supposed to be. I am disappointed that CR never responded to my request for how much you get when I use your service. You should expect me to use someone else's next time, such as AARP or Costco,"

"styling, driving agility, performance, responsive steering, kids confort (rear seats), cargo space, muti media console"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Our previous car was a 2011 Odyssey. It wasn't immediately obvious during the test drive but the 2018 is decidedly smaller. Seats especially so and during a recent extended trip I was left with severe lower back pain - unable to adjust seat well despite many adjustments. Sound deadening is very good. Safety features are good. Would take a harder look next time."

Lawrence S., DE (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Latest model year includes technology used in cars 15 to 20,000$ more than latest Odyssey. Better ride, more flexible space use for various trip types."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The second row seats are very difficult to take in and out. We would very much like to have a built in cd player."

Thomas B., OH (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The van is a great overall value for the money."

"Great overall blend of versatility, comfort, and performance. Added safety systems are important enhancements."

Anonymous, KS (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"This is a fantastic vehicle - very quiet on the road, comfortable, gets great gas mileage at all times for a vehicle it’s size. And a great audio/navigation system, easy to use and covering everything we’d like it to do. We couldn’t be happier with our choice of this van given what we paid for it."

Anonymous, WI (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"I offered dealer a price I would pay for car and amount I wanted for my trade in and they agreed."

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"The advertised in town and highway gas mileage is 22/28 and we are getting a couple of miles per gallon better than that, The EX trim has everything we need and the car handles well and can pull a trailer so I do not need another vehicle like a pickup."

"Incredible value. I have a SUV with similar equipment that is $25k more and the van is more functional."

Rajeeb D., FL (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Since the revised model just came out, I had to pay full price, but I got a decent deal on my trade-in. What is really annoying is that I might have sprung for the Navigation system, but you can't get that without getting the Rear Entertainment System, which I never used in my previous car. I don't understand why these two features can't be purchased separately."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"Don't have enough information to make a informed statement."

"Used Consumer Reports buying service and first checked different areas to see where the best price using the service could be found, as it varied by over a $2000 difference from one area to another."

Stephen P., SC (2018 Honda Odyssey)

"A well-engineered car with increased power, excellent handling, beautiful/functional interior, superb safety features, and wonderful electronic steering for the first time in an Odyssey."
