With the Ridgeline, Honda has evolved the concept of the pickup, creating a smart truck aimed squarely at the actual needs of most pickup owners. The original, innovative Ridgeline turned off many buyers because of its peculiar styling. The lessons have been learned. As a result, the second-generation Ridgeline looks much more conventional, while being even more sensible.

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey for over 300,000 vehicles, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how 2000 through 2021 vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system. NA indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

William B., DE (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
Keyless entry

"The in-bed trunk cannot be locked with the "valet key" and it isn't broken. It is a DESIGN FLAW! A parking lot attendant can enter the under-bed trunk with just the remote. The dealer tried too "fix" this but it cannot be "fixed". The service manager at the dealer admitted that it is a design flaw. So, locking the trunk is only possible if you keep the key fob but not otherwise. I find it unbelievable that some engineer at Honda didn't realize this error."

Anonymous, VA (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Shortly after purchasing the vehicle I noticed that the drivers side mirror vibrated at speeds above 45mph. I discovered that the mirror was loose and had it checked out at the nearest dealership. The first replacement mirror was also defective, so had to reschedule to get replaced. It took 5 months to fix what should have been a fairly simple repair. Not happy with Honda service and I'm rethinking my decision to buy a Honda."

Anonymous, (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
Tailgate, hatch or trunk

"I couldn't get the tailgate open for a year. finally took it to the dealer that made it better. The battery failed and left me stranded before the truck was a year old. Worst new car I've had in 20 years."

What Owners Say

Loose exterior trim or moldings

"Exterior door moldings was somewhat resolved"

Anonymous, VA (2019 Honda Ridgeline Sport 3.5-L V6)

"The hood and front end grill do not fit together very well. When I hand wash I Am always catching the sponge or rag on edges. The hood really wobbles and buffets at highway speed. A little bit scarry. The material and workmanship do not seem to match the price for the vehicle. It is not a Toyota."

Anonymous, MO (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)
Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"Paint defect from factory. Body had a bad weld on it and factory painted over it. Other places were rough and also painted over at factory. Honda had hood, door and side of bed repaired and painted. I would not have accepted truck had I been able to closely inspect on day of purchase. It was raining when I picked it up. Was an internet deal. Learned my lesson."

Anonymous, NC (2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL 3.5-L V6)

"Paint has NO resilience for typical car use. Paint is chipping after less than a year. Completely unacceptable. Never had a problem like this with any car I've owned - whether in the cold northeast or hot SoCal. Most cars get occasional chips when a pebble hits it. This car seems to have new chips every month."
