This version of the Azera is more stylish and refined than its predecessor. Appealingly finished, the spacious and quiet cabin has comfortable seats and generous room for five. The powertrain is smooth, powerful and fuel-efficient. While handling is improved, the Azera still lacks agility even for this class. The ride also falls short of expectations.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"The acceleration is excellent. The ride is not as soft as I would prefer since it has low profile tires mounted on 19" wheels."

Anonymous, MA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Acceleration and handling could be classified as belonging to a 'sporty model' but this sedan is a true performance winner."

Anonymous, NV (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Not much torque at lower RPM. Transmission really HUNTS to find a good gear when going up inclines. Works too hard!!"

STEVEN W., AZ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Rough over bumps, brakes soft, some fish tailing on some road surfaces."

Anonymous, VA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Powerful, easy to drive on freeway, doesn't downshift much when accelerating, etc. Peppy."

JEROME Y., MI (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Electric assist steering is mushy - it takes constant micro-correcting by the driver to run straight down the highway. The power is good but transmission isn't sync'ed well for performance and it's very evident when using the cruise control... it's like it can't decide whether to downshift or to just go. It just seems pretty wimpy for an entry-level luxury car. For overall handling performance, I've driven much more satisfying cars. But, for styling and comfort (which are more important to m"

BEN S., TX (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Occasionally seems to handle slower than expected."

Anonymous, MD (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Nicely balanced steering. Very powerful and linear acceleration."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"With 290 HP, the Azera accelerates rapidly. The taut suspension with quality low profile tires makes for excellent handling."

Anonymous, MA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Ample power; smooth acceleration; handles well; very quiet"

Stephen C., AZ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The acceleration is very responsive and the ssteering is exceptional."

Wayne B., NV (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The ability to merge on the freeway is effortless with rapid acceleration from the 295 Horse Power engine. The response with fuel injection and overhead valves is without fault. This is the first car I've owned where the OEM tires were not a complaint having great traction and control in wet weather. (resistant to Hydroplaning)"

John G., WA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The acceleration is a bit sluggish. It is a large sedan and it handles accordingly. It definitely feels like you're driving a heavier car."

David G., NC (2014 Hyundai Azera)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The driver's seat is incredibly comfortable and supportive. It allows me to drive greater distances without experience back soreness."

Anonymous, MA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The interior is very luxurious for a vehicle in this price range. It is a true 'gem' that is not heavily advertised by the manufacturer. The quailty of the whole product is equal to or greater than most luxury cars."

Anonymous, NV (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Needs to be a little more roomier/"

Lanny S., FL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Very quiet & comfortable; can carry on normal conversation without difficulty. Driver's seat is especially easy to adjust, & I love the seat memory feature."

STEPHEN C., AZ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the interior. However, there is a terribly annoying squeak that occurs when using the arm rest. When pressure is applied the door bumpers rub against the base of the arm rest and generate a noise similar to styrofoam rubbing together. Seems like it could be repaired easily. I haven't reported it to the dealership yet."

DAVID G., NC (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Super comfortable, quiet, smooth ride. Have a rattle in dash in cold weather which is annoying and after three trips to service, still not fixed."

JEROME Y., MI (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Seats are not as comfortable as in my 2006 Hyundai Azera and the head rest is awkwardly placed."

Anonymous, MD (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Who ever decided that a black interior looks good must live in Alaska. A black interior is fine in cold weather, but an oven in the summer. The climate controls in this car are difficult for the driver to safely find and use without taking eyes off the road. I just set the temperature at 68 and use the fan speed to control the heat while driving."

JEFFREY L., OH (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Cooling vents are poorly placed and make driving hands cold. Cool air in cents often at high speeds even while heat is on"

Anonymous, VA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Buzzing rattle from driver's side shoulder belt mount. Dealer attempted to fix w/ padding inside unit - failed. Dealer replace mounting unit w/ new - still rattles. It's a faint noise but, it's very close to your left ear so the drivers hears it almost all the time!"

BEN S., TX (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"too noisy for luxury car"

DENNIS H., WA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The ride is reasonable quiet with no intrusion of engine noise. The seats are fully adjustable with memory controls for two drivers. The heating and cooling features for the front seats make driving more enjoyable"

John G., WA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"love the heated/ventilated seats"

Anonymous, IL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Very uncomfortable and hard on lengthy trips"

Jack S., VA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Very comfortable and supportive seats. Very low noise level on all but the roughest of roads. Firm ride due to low profile tires."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Air condition seats. Adjustable driver's seat."

Anonymous, FL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The seats are very comfortable, especially on long drives. Head room is phenomenal, and passengers always rave about the comfort of the back seats. The suspension system is a little stiff, and you feel a lot of bumps that other cars seem to absorb. For the record, I know Hyundai stopped selling this car, but I don't think they were ever serious about selling it. They just never marketed it correctly, and that is too bad, because after 4.5 years of ownership, it's been one of the best cars I've ever owned."

Debra-Thomas S., NJ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Seats: all good comments for comfort, adjustability, heated and cooled, fine leather."

Anonymous, MN (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"The driver's seat is the most supportive of all the cars in it's class."

Anonymous, MA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"options included that are upgrades in other similar vehicles"

Anonymous, GA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"IMO, the Azera is a great value. This car has features not available in many cars costing thousands more."

DONALD W., OH (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"great price, outstanding warranty, loads of options included in selling price"

Anonymous, FL (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Got a great deal-25% off MSRP at the end of the year. It's a lot of car for the money."

STEPHEN C., AZ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Great value for the price paid. In between a non luxury sedan and luxury sedan but quality comperable to a luxury sedan."

Anonymous, PA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"For the price I paid, there is a lot of car here. However, that price was about 1/3 off of the sticker ($26,400 vs $36,000+ for the Limited). If I had to pay anywhere near the $36,000, I probably would not have pulled the trigger."

Anonymous, CT (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"I had my sights set on a Jaguar but say a care that looked like the Jaguar I wanted but was $30k less. I decided to test drive it and, although the Jag had a better ride and a plusher interior the Hyundai Azera had the same lines, was less expensive, had the same performance, had better gas mileage and a 100.000 warranty. What would you do? Yes! that's what I did. I've not been disappointed."

Anonymous, WA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"Great car for the money. Too bad that Hyundai never seemed to know or never seemed to care how to market this gem of a car. And now, they've stopped making it, in order to grow their Genesis brand. Love the space, comfort, and looks of this car."

Debra-Thomas S., NJ (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"This may have been the best car for the money I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of cars. Over the six years we have had owned our Azera it has been in the shop once and that was for a recall on the steering system. It drives and feels like a luxury car. And now it is, as Azera is gone and been replaced by the Genesis the Genesis."

Anonymous, LA (2014 Hyundai Azera)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"The Azera is a looker. Other large sedans (especially the Toyota Avalon) are styled too conservatively for me,"

DONALD W., OH (2014 Hyundai Azera)

"You never see another car like yours until you buy one. I never realized how many silver cars there are in a parking lot at one time. ?"
