The Hyundai Genesis rivals high-end luxury sedans, but costs considerably less. Its luxuriously spacious interior and quietness far transcended its relatively modest price. We were also impressed with its smooth, punchy powertrain and excellent brakes. Handling is sound, but this is no sports sedan.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Plenty of power, though slightly less responsive than the new model of the V6. Handles very well, with only a slight deficit on broken pavement and a significant understeer on curves."

PETER P., CA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"The adaptive cruise control alone was worth the price of the car. It works flawlessly and is a great safety feature. I will never buy another car without it (and backup camera)."

PATRICK W., OH (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Great acceleration, smooth ride, easy to handle, good around curves."

Anonymous, CT (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"smooth, effortless, quiet"

H G., ON (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Very quick acceleration."

Anonymous, SC (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"seats, climate control, noise are excellent. Ride is not as good as it should be in this value car"

H G., ON (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Initially (2010) the vehicle had repeated failures with a module that controlled the automatic seating position, including steering column position. After repeated replacements of the module (and much inconvenience, although a loaner was always provided), Hyundai finally identified the problem and a functioning, reliable part was installed."

GENE O., VA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"driver's seat control module replaced twice due to failure to return to neutral position when system shut down."

Anonymous, VA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Ride could be better.Car is very quiet.Controls are simple and clear."

RONALD D., ON (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Seat controls freeze and do not always work. About 30% of the time we cannot move seat foreward or backwards to accommodate my wife or myself and our very different sizes."

JOHN B., OH (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"comfortable, quite, responsive, good value"

Anonymous, PA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"I did not like the OEM suspension, and spent $1200, including labor, to replace with coilover's that I much prefer. Everything else on the car is stock. I did not like the stock suspension, at all, and would not buy the car again if I didn't have the coilovers available."

ERICK B., GA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"After a few years it seems to ride worse."

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Handsome, powerful, comfortable car -- was a great value for the time."

PETER P., CA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Price was respectable for equipment provided. Still love the car after 5 years."

Anonymous, PA (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"For the same or less money than a Lexis I got much more for my money."

STANLEY L., FL (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Has all the features of a BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and other to luxury cars at a much lower price point. Rides smooth and quiet (with the right tires)."

DONNA P., SC (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"High equipment level for the price."

RONALD D., ON (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"I have had numerous cars, this by far the best one I ever had. Currently has 105,000 miles and looks and rides as good as ever. Lot of bang for the buck. Would recommend this car and have, to many people."

Anonymous, TX (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Was not the first or even the second owner but car was incredibly low mileage for the age and perfect inside and out. Quiet, comfortable and a pleasure to ride in or drive."

Anonymous, MO (2010 Hyundai Genesis)

"Good value for what I paid for the vehicle but dealer tried to go back on their word on promises upon my ownership until I was ready to file a lawsuit. I will never buy a car in a big town again with a huge overhead. The volume discount they may get more than compensate for the service and price you would get from a small town dealership."

MICHAEL V., TX (2010 Hyundai Genesis)
