What Owners Say
"intermittently failed"
Anonymous, OR (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Camera basically stopped working, blurry and odd colours. Very expensive do replace. Gave me a deal and put part on Warranty....saved me $900"
Max B., ON (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"camera picture became distorted. Camera was replaced under warrenty"
Anonymous, CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"camera worked off and on from 2weeks after I bought the car. because the shop could not pinpoint which electronic device was bad they did nothing. warranty replacement march 2015"
Stan C., TN (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Intermittently does not work. We get black screen with colored distance lines still visible but no image of what is behind us."
Anonymous, FL (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"Would not accept CD's. Problem was fixed (CD replaced) by dealer without cost under warranty"
Emil H., GA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Does not automatically change CDs after last song is played"
Anonymous, VA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"Screen mounted so in daylight can't read - it is useless. Display too bright at night - distracting -won't dim enough"
Malcolm L., TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"any time the sun in on the screen, you cannot see the image"
Dennis T., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The cursor knob on the console started to fail intermittently before the extended warranty was up, but would not fail for the dealership repair. Of course it stopped working completely after the 100K miles. Therefore I was inevitably forced with always seeing the idiot warning screen all the time. When I finally had it fixed, it cost $1300 for a part that took 5 minutes to replace. Also, the only cable(Hyundai only) I could use for my iPhone music was the iPod one provided, which worked for a while with the $30 adapter, but replacing the actual cord is impossible because it's now obsolete."
Anthony O., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"about a quarter of the time, when we turn on the car we cannot activate the GPS, and cannot see out the back camera"
Mark F., FL (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Navigation / Touch screen display is major issue. System freezes about 10-15% of time. Unclear what causes, and only way to restart is to stop vehicle to reboot system. Freezes in different ways, and super frustrating to lose many functions"
Warren W., TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"On startup the Navigation system sometimes but not always would not Boot up and would stay frozen. Eventually the system would become operational"
Anonymous, AB (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The control for all screen functions had to be replaced. Part had to shipped from Korea"
R J., TN (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"backup camera works intermittently - sometimes shows what is behind and sometimes goes blank"
Anonymous, CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"selection menu takes longer to find a song than inserting a CD, loading the CD, & selecting a song from CD, combined"
Anthony O., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"I can not programm an address into it We had trouble with the first navigation system and Hyundai replaced the whole system under warranty. Now we have this problem but we have no longer the warranty for that. Fixing it we were told would cost $2200. !"
Lloyd S., TN (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"the nvg system went blank. I took the auto to a hyundai dealer & the professional rpairman said he thinks the fuse controlling the nvg imply somehow came loos & mid exam it came back on!!"
R H., TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"The entire GPS,Radio,Bluetooth/phone interface system failed == replaced twice. first time dealer ordered wrong part"
Stanley B., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"When the in dash system failed to boot up, the navigation system would not operate and a blank screen would appear"
Anonymous, AB (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The navigation system tells you the distances to the next few exits. As the closest exit was approaching the distance to that was accurate but the distance to the next few exits was no longer calculated until it, in fact, was the next exit"
Anonymous, ON (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"warranty- map update-THREE hours. $300 dollars & THREE hours for each update requested. I mounted my Garmin on the windshield. Life time updates $89!!"
Stan C., TN (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The charge to update the GPS (over $1,000) in not realistic. I am in the process of purchasing a new car and that will be one feature that will help form my decision. May not buy a new Genesis."
Max B., ON (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Several people could not mate phone with blue tooth - so no voice commands or addresses"
Malcolm L., TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Bluetooth pairing is a major disappointment. When paired system is OK. However, the success rate is maybe 70%. Pairing sometimes happens when nearing vehicle, and will "hijack" phone calls"
Warren W., TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"They have changed out the head unit three times since we purchased this car because of phone issues with car"
Anonymous, FL (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The phone pairing stopped working for a short period after it was originally set up. We set it up again and it appears to be working fine now"
Anonymous, WI (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"I'm 55 years old, and this Lexicon system's AM/FM radio reception is the worst of ALL vehicles I've ever owned (approximately 8-10). But.....the XM reception, if I would have so chosen to subscribe to, is excellent!"
Anthony O., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"Radio will occasionally go on when the car is started. (Then takes two pushes of the on-off button to turn off.)"
Anonymous, TX (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"AM/FM reception is the worst of any of many previous vehicles driven. Radio selector doesn't work any more and stuck on idiot warning screen"
Anthony O., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"I have had several instances where the sound system in totality seemingly goes dead. No sound is heard from the entertainment system, nav system satellite radio. Was told may the dealer that the system is a windows ce operating system, which I'm told can crash stopping all sound from the car speakers. So far, disconnecting the battery has resolved the issue when it happens. It's a known bug that Hyundai has extended the warranty for"
Anonymous, NJ (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"A lot of static on number of stations. Service compares them to other similar radios to determine if there is a difference. To me it is comparing a defective item to another defective item"
Anonymous, CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"Volume knob has broken three different times. It is made from cheap plastic"
Douglas W., GA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"volume shut off while I was adjusting phone blue tooth and came back on two hours later after I turned car off and on a few times"
Anonymous, FL (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Worst AM/FM reception of all car radios I've heard. XM reception is perfect"
Anthony O., CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"twice would not come on"
Anonymous, GA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"The system will freeze and radio and XM will not work at all. Many times the radio and XM crackle with the sound"
David L., VA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)"Absolutely absurd that the dealer wants to charge $1,000 to update the maps module. It is now very much out of date. At the overall price, the update should be a simple matter for them to update when I am in for routine maintenance. Better still do it over the airwaves. This will be the main reason that I will likely look to another brand for my next car purchase."
Anonymous, ON (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 3.8-L V6)"Many times does not respond and many times is unable to recognized the command"
Anonymous, CA (2011 Hyundai Genesis None 4.6-L V8)
