This version of the Hyundai Santa Fe is a good SUV. With an interior now big enough for a third-row seat, along with excellent fit and finish, it is a refined and versatile package. Santa Fe also has responsive handling, with a firm but comfortable ride. The 3.3-liter V6 is smooth, but fuel economy is disappointing. A 2.7-liter V6 is standard.

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Good pick up and go"

Barbara B., MI (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"My Hyundai responds quickly in emergency situations, remains stable, can accelerate rapidly to get out of the pathway of oncoming traffic on highway44 north passing circumstance. Helped me to avoid two accidents. First a big rig passing oncoming traffic on an uphill grade. It was necessary to ride the shoulder in winter conditions. More recently a double tanker decided to pass me in pouring rain while another tanker was oncoming once again on a hill, reckless disregard for circumstance. My Hyun..."

Mary F., AB (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Smooth and responsive. Great mileage under normal driving (21 mpg with 206k miles!), and good acceleration for on ramp merging and passing. I've used the All Wheel Drive many times in the snow, several times in multi-hour trips caught in snowstorms. Never an issue with transmission."

ROBERT M., AZ (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

SUZANN D., PA (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"It is the small engine. The acceleration is not great but then what should I expect from the small engine anyway?"

EDDY Q., FL (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Top heavy and could possibly flip if you turn too quickly. Tire noise on rough roads."

GARY B., KY (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

Anthony F., VA (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Acceleration is very good , handling is poor steering also"

E H., BC (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

Michael F., CO (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

E H., BC (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Above average"

Anonymous, ON (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Over the years its gotten very noisy to drive, lots of rattles in the front suspension."

Constance B., NM (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"The front passenger seat is very uncomfortable and there isn't enough leg room in the back seat."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"The road noise and wind noise in this vehicle is very loud. The weatherstripping on the windows is too stiff to block the wind noise and there must not be any insulation underneath because the road noise is extremely loud."

Barbara B., MI (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Many positions of the seat and good back support"

M B., MN (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"The ride, even after 199k miles is still very good. Acceleration is deficient, but once it gets to speed, it's smooth and quiet."

JOHN W., MA (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Exceptional comfort on road trips. Suspension a bit firm largely due to the 18" wheels/tires but that improves the handling a bit as a trade off. Quiet with proper tires."

GLENN D., IL (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"It is a 2 wheel vehicle and the ride is poor. All seems in the street and bumps are felt dramatically in the car."

STEPHEN S., NM (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Front headrests push one's spine into a forward position with no lumbar support."

TOMMY H., CO (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Living in the midwest, it is cold in winter.. Cold air leeks in at the doors. Dealer tried to fix, could not. Always carry a blanket for the winter."

"Comfortable seats"

Nicole Z., PA (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"Very good eccelleration, noisy, rough ride, but works well."

E H., BC (2007 Hyundai Santa Fe)

"First, it is a 2008. I must have mistakenly indicated it was a 2007 at some point. It is a 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited. And it has an intermittent noise in what sounds like the passenger front leg area either from under the dash or over by the kick panel. I drown it out with music when it occurs. It also has noise associated with the wheel or tire on the passenger side when it is rotated to the front. I'm looking forward to when that tire wears out."
