The Wrangler was last updated in 1997 and it's quite dated. Its strengths are solely off-road; it may be hard to live with every day. Its thirsty engine performs just adequately, handling is clumsy, and the ride is sloppy.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"the rubicon is the best off road vehicle ever!"

Anonymous, VT (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"We bought the Jeep Rubicon because we like to off-road, and our old Wrangler couldn't make it to some of those places without a lot of upgrading - which was all available in the Rubicon. We have not been disappointed!"

Denise L., AZ (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

Maurice G., NJ (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"Good acceleration"

Anonymous, VA (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"While a Wrangler isn't normally associated with handling and acceleration, nothing beats a Wrangler for pure FUN. It's extremely easy to drive in traffic (relatively small size while sitting up, and peppy enough power to grab that spot in traffic), very easy to park, especially parallel, and when the weather goes south, unstoppable. I've enhanced it for better performance so that helps too."

D C., CA (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"Bumpy but fun."

Anonymous, IN (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The Jeep actually provides a nice ride when under 50mph. It's got a lot of tire sidewall and good clearance to bounce along rather than shutter. The noise can be a little loud at highway speeds."

Stella D., TX (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is a Jeep. A good and reliable Jeep."

Anonymous, VA (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"too many scammers in thunder bay.they used high pressure tactics telling me someone else was willing to pay their asking price, which turned to be false. I paid too much."

STAN K., ON (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"Great car. Easy to work on and as it gets older it you appreciate the increased joy and versatility the Jeep Wrangler provides throughout all the seasons."

Keith I., CT (2004 Jeep Wrangler)

"I can sell my Jeep for more than what was originally paid. It is a fantastic value. It does everything needed. Was a great off-road vehicle and now is a great town car. We love this car. The heat of Texas as not effected it's hard plastics. It get bad ratings for it's hard surfaces but they don't break down no matter what the conditions."
