The Wrangler has entered the modern era, with more creature comforts, updated safety gear, and an available four-door model. Its off-road performance is very impressive. While on-road ride, handling, and refinement are improved, they are still not competitive.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Bottom line is that nothing can stop it!"

Michael D., VA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Wrangler is a fun vehicle to drive. It can take whatever you want to drive it on e.g. Hills, rocks, sand, etc. and it handles all of these terrains with ease. I don't think we've found anything yet that it couldn't drive over. Acceleration is good but I would want to put it on a race track."

Anonymous, FL (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Seems to be a bit underpowered. Especially when bucking a strong head wind."

Anonymous, NM (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"A Jeep is a Jeep but they are so easy to handle - parking is a real plus. Acceleration is great for this type of vehicle."

Anonymous, TX (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep is extremely underpowered and terrible at cornering. I understand Jeeps concerns about tip overs, but the way this vehicle turns, I would just as soon drive a tank."

STEVE S., NV (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"There is nothing that compares to the owner experience to the Jeep Wrangler. It's a category of its own and nothing comes close."

Anonymous, NC (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"What I wanted."

Anonymous, NC (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"With all its features I felt and still do feel that I am driving a luxury vehicle. It handles beautifully whether on pavement or off-pavement. I have been pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage I have gotten. On a trip from Las Vegas, NV, to Kansas City, MO., except for the Rockies, I got 20 mpg. I have modified my Jeep with a 2-1/2" lift. I have noticed driving in heavy winds that the hood vibrates. Have not yet, but plan on changing the hood latches to stop that. Since I do off-road a"

CHERYL G., NV (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Jeep is just as they always have been. It is a bumpy, abrupt ride just as they always have been. In my opinions this is a plus. This is a fun second car that we drive in the summer and the "feel" is half the fun."

ERIC G., NJ (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is an off-road vehicle. I always find it interesting that it scores so poorly in your road tests, like this should be a surprise. If you are looking for a well handling sport car this is not it. Put many of the other SUVs in this category on an off-road course and I feel certain they will all handle poorly compared to the Jeep."

Anonymous, GA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is a particularly nice driver around town but is incredible off road with the best performance of any 4x4 vehicle we have driven off road."

Anonymous, WA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Not enough power. Sixth gear almost worthless in a head wind"

Anonymous, IL (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Acceleration is mediocre. My only real complaint tho is the dimness of the low beam headlights. So dim it's hard to drive at night using them"

CAROL G., RI (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"The engine is weak and acceleration is very, very poor. The 2012 version has a more powerful engine and I should have waited to purchase the 2012 and passed on the 2011."

Anonymous, VA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep Wrangler is a little pig. It has terrible acceleration, poor power, and handling is what you'd expect from two solid axles. Major improvements should be made with power available for all driving scenarios."

Anonymous, WI (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"My Jeep is awesome both on and off road. It truely goes anywhere in any kind of weather."

Anthony B., NY (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"came with hard top. To difficult to find a soft top! Even going to a dealership they couldn’t seem to get one for a used vehicle."

Brett R., NY (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The seats are more comfortable than you would expect to find in a Wrangler. We drove from central Florida to Charleston, Sout Carolina and expected to have to stop several time as my husband and I both have back issues. We were able to complete the drive with only one stop for gas and food. The noise level is what you expect from a Wrangler. The surprising thing is the road noise is louder with the factory hard top then it is with the soft top. The ride is comfortable but you do feel the bumps m..."

R W., CA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Uncomfortable rough ride, high wind noise, and generally an archaic vehicle that somehow holds its value despite poor quality by Chrysler."

JARED T., FL (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is ok, nothing great."

Anonymous, CA (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

"Ride is a lot rougher than I anticipated"

Anonymous, MS (2011 Jeep Wrangler)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Great as an extra "Fun" vehicle but shouldn't be your daily driver. Paid over $20k new and it still holds its value but you get little for your money and a hech of a rough ride compared to modern autos."

JARED T., FL (2011 Jeep Wrangler)
