The iconic Jeep Wrangler has a loyal following, thanks to its classic design, rugged image and legendary history. With an updated powertrain, this may be the best version yet, but the Wrangler is seriously outdated in the modern world. While designed for capable offroading ability, on the road performance is uncivilized. The ride is unsettled, sometimes even snappy. Handling is very clumsy.

What Owners Say

"Acceleration is poor"

Anonymous, FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It’s a Jeep. It’s fun and another way of life. I love it."

Anonymous, FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"2013 Jeep Wrangler over my 2007 Jeep Wrangler: Better brakes, much more power. The hardtop is excellent; better sound with rear bass speaker; power windows, power door locks, air conditioning. Just fun to drive and can park anywhere."

Lonnie B., WA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Gear ratio isn’t meant for highways. Acceleration is slow"

Anonymous, MA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Good acceleration with 6 speed manual transmission. Sharp turning for easy parking. Bouncy ride on rough roads. Exceptional traction in deep snow and mud."

Anonymous, IA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Driving in snow. Can't beat it. It's the best"

Anonymous, NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"This Wrangler feels really quick probably due to 4.11 gearing which is impacting gas milage somewhat. Shorter wheelbase from the JKU makes ride busier but not uncomfortable."

Robert R., FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Good front visibility. Way fun to drive off road."

Anonymous, AZ (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Perfect blend of on road and off road performance"

Robert W., MI (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"I am a sports car person but too old to climb in one now but the Jeep drives like a sports car and is fun to drive so it is my sports car now"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Has surprising power. My jeep is a 2-door base model so it gets best mileage and ride. I have the freedom top so outside noise is controlled to very pleasant level."

Robert B., NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"This motor is better than the old V6, but is still weak. OFFER A 6 CYLINDER DIESEL IN THE WRANGLER!!!"

Aaron P., CA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It's a Jeep. I feel like I can go anywhere."

Matthew G., OH (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"I am a sports car person who like to drive and feel the road. I am too old to climb in and out of sports cars any more but I set comfortable in this vehicle and it is a blast to drive"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"This 2 door Wrangler has the same 6 cylinder Pentastar engine as all models (4 door too). Great acceleration. And of course the 4 wheel drive low is perfect for my home driveway plowing. During the Winter of 2016-2017 I used the plow 5 times and it was a dream. I used to use a snow blower in the rain and wind. Now I am inside and the town snow plows that used to make a wall of snow at the end of my driveway are no longer any problem."

Robert B., NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Drives like a dog"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"People complain that this is a rough-driving vehicle and isn't smooth on the highway and handles turns poorly. They forget that this vehicle is designed for heavy-duty/hard core off-road use so the compromise in highway ride quality is to provide better off-road capability. I think that compared to the previous (TJ) generation, the current (JK) generation is much more improved in highway driving. The gas mileage is much better since switching to the V6 from the I-6 but the newer engine does l..."

Alberta M., FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Responsive acceleration, improved suspension from prior years. Fun to drive. Handles very well."

JAMES B., RI (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is a fun car to drive. The kids love taking the jeep around town or short trips. Even better experience with the top down. This car is not big enough for long family trips (I own the 2-door), but is by far the best our favorite car for town and recreation."

Anonymous, FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"good acceleration goes and handles good on the trails"

CLYDE Y., PA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"I bought the Jeep Wrangler to tow behind our motorhome. It is a brilliant tow car for adventures in the motorhome. As a daily driver and no towing I would sell it. The handling around town is OK. Driving on the highway is not up to today's level of competence. But off road this car is fantastic. Really fantastic +. And the materials it is made of are perfect for off road ruffing it. Plus it has been extremely reliable and the Jeep dealer great. Very good car for my purposes. A terrible"

ROBERT N., CA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"The accelarator had an electronic failure and stuck at high speed. Almost crashed because it would not disengage. Jeep dealer replaced entire unit and defective parts."

SCOTT P., WA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"I find the seat and driving position to be comfortable. I have a problem with heat coming in through the plastic hard top."

Stuart F., FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"The seats are comfortable but the cabin noise can m az ki it difficult to hear some calls at highway speed."

Kirt R., MT (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Comfortable ride. There is a lot of road noise, even with top on."

Scott P., WA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Rides like a jeep. Bouncy ride, good acceleration, easy parking with tight turning radius. Great traction in snow and mud. comfortable seats, very good visibility."

Anonymous, IA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Surprisingly comfortable on the open road. I have base model sport with smallest wheels with highway tread. I use the jeep to plow snow on my circle driveway. Does just what I want and a beautiful ride too!"

Robert B., NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"seats are made for a big man. I am 6'3" and 225". The seats are very comfortable"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is the most comfortable vehicle I have owned as far as the ease of getting in and how you sit when driving"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"I knew what I was getting regarding comfort when I bought the Jeep. It is somewhat rougher than I thought but the main problem is my wife does not like to ride in it or drive it. I bought it in hopes of bad winter weather and that has not happened. Therefore plan to sell it."

Anonymous, AR (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep is a Jeep and rides as such. It was a much better ride than our 2000 Jeep Wrangler. You buy a Jeep because of what it can do. It won't be the most comfortable and quiet. CR shouldn't judge Wrangler's against other SUV's as how can you really compare??"

Anonymous, CO (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"This wrangler is a big improvement in ride and quietness over the 2012 jKU we had before our Cherokee. It’s much quieter and seems tighter. It’s great to have a Wrangler again."

Robert R., FL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"We've taken several road trips with the Jeep and it is surprisingly comfortable on the road."

Anonymous, ND (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It's very loud"

Anonymous, MA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Front seat is comfortable but back seat is not"

Anonymous, MO (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Does what I bought it for. I had a 375 lb plow attached for $5,000 and it takes care of my circle driveway and long drive to the road. It has the hard top and air conditioning. Crank windows. Quiet and smooth at highway speeds. Nothing like the old days (1970's)"

Robert B., NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Auto temp control degree settings are not accurate. Might as well just show H & C on the dial."

RICHARD V., AL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Because of the heavy treaded tires the tire wear is a significant issue. It leads to a great deal of uneven wear and road noise. Very frequent rotation (every 3,000 miles) is supposed to help. With this model (Rubicon) it's something to be very aware of."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Noise - I installed the optional sound pads onto the top inside of the Jeep which resulted in much improved wind noise levels and heat control. It should be a stock item."

Anonymous, AL (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"The JK Jeep Wrangler is very well behaved and handles much better than I expected for a Jeep. It no longer feels like a truck."

JACOB B., MI (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Terrible ride"

Anonymous, LA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is not the most comfortable, however, I did not buy it for comfort. I bought it for it's strength and utility"

LOREN B., MO (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Wrangler is pretty noisy on the highway because of its shape and it has a bouncy ride. But that's part of it being a Wrangler!"

Anonymous, NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"the way it holds it value in spit of the mileage. I have had not other vehicle that does as well in this area"

Anonymous, NC (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"My only complaint was that my soft top cost the same as a hard top model. The cost of a hard top option now is $995 vs. after purchase buy at over $3000. Unreasonable."

ALEXA L., NM (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It's overpriced I would not waste the money on a jeep . I feel that they are over rated."

Anonymous, PA (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is exactly what I wanted. Ride much better than the previous Wranglers I have owned. Power of the new 3.6 liter is excellent. Love the electronic throttle control!"

S R., NY (2013 Jeep Wrangler)

"Jeep Wranglers are overpriced when you buy them but they hold their value well when you sell them."

LOREN B., MO (2013 Jeep Wrangler)
