The iconic Jeep Wrangler has a loyal following, thanks to its classic design, rugged image and legendary history. With an updated powertrain, this may be the best version yet, but the Wrangler is seriously outdated in the modern world. While designed for capable offroading ability, on the road performance is uncivilized. The ride is unsettled, sometimes even snappy. Handling is very clumsy.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Handle very quick with unexpected acceleration."

ROBERT R., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I have a 3.2 rear end ratio. Low gear needs to be lower. It is like starting in second gear. Good gas milage, however."

Anonymous, VA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep does 4 wheel drive road very well, which is the main purpose I bought it for. Otherwise I am satisfied with acceleration and driving. Averaging about 20 mpg is a pleasant surprise."

DAVID A., FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The handling of my jeep in deep snow and winter driving are fantastic. Driving with the tops down in,the summer with the tunes cranked is pure joy. :)"

KEVIN D., ME (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

CLYDE J., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"While I know it isn't a sports car, I swapped the "Rubicon"-type tires for Michelin, and it handled superbly, taking curves in the road, etc."

KENNETH C., CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Acceleration is a little weak considering the size and weight of the vehicle and the size of the engine. Handling is terrible as it likes to dart around on the road. Steering is way too sensitive, a slight move and it darts."

JOE C., AR (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"We bought it to tow behind our motorhome and to take off road when we got to areas that interest us. It preforms great in both areas."

KATHLEEN L., OR (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is the third Rubican that I have owned. I wish that I had kept the first one. It too was plaged by manual transmission Synchros. It was rebuilt twice by two dealers. the last dealer got it right or there was different parts provided. Unfortunately, I traded it at 110miles. The second Rebicon was an automatic Trans. I constantly missed the foot brake. I had many episodes where I had close calls. The third one now has 18331 miles. It now needs synchros. The third one I think that"

JOHN W., NY (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Great off road performance"

GARY S., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"drives as a sport utility vehicle, sole purpose is not luxury highway vehicle. experts criticize the Jeep brand for not comparing to similar suvs. to this day it will still outperform most vehicles off-road"

Anonymous, CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Use at beach . The best for that purpose"

RON G., GA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Jeep doesn't handle particularly well but it is really fun to drive and I really enjoy the entire experience."

Anonymous, ON (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Awesome acceleration. Excellent handling"

William C., TN (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Handles well except in very windy conditions"

Anonymous, UT (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"When New until updated computer acceleration at crucial times intermittently poor if not dangerous. Acceleration upon entering highway"

Joseph P., NY (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I have added a 2.5" lift and 35" tires so it is not fair to compare this to a stock Jeep. Handling sucks. I do not want to drive this in a rain storm as it hydroplanes. Great vehicle to bop around town when the sun is shining and you can drop the top. It also kicks butt during deer season when I have it off road."

Wilson B., OH (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"the off-road fun is why i bought the car and it delvers , so much fun"

Anonymous, CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Great acceleration & drives much better on the highways than I thought. Also quieter than I expected."

Steve J., CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"the Jeep drives great around town. Acceleration and handling are much like a car but the visibility is better and it is way more fun."

Anonymous, CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"My husband loves the way it drives."

Anonymous, MA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Dependability, rugged, American ICON, functionality"

Clyde J., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is designed to be used primarily as an off-road vehicle and is made as such. there are too many critics who give it a bad name because it rides noisy and rough on the road. It handles well on road, especially if equipped with after market products, such as steering stabilizer, suspension, and brakes. Where it leaves other vehicles in the dust, is off-road."

Anonymous, CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"acceleration and handling is fine considering this vehicle is built for off-road rather than cruising. it's exactly what you would expect for this type of vehicle"

Peter D., NY (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"most comfortable wrangler we have ever owned (and we have owned 4 previously)"

Anonymous, MD (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"fun car to drive. good acceleration for passing. great for driving on our soft sand beaches"

Peter S., FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Vehicle handles very well. Has enogh power to get on freeways, with no problem."

Vega W., AZ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I live in a rural, mountain area, so 90% of my driving is on 2-lane, very curvy and steeply hilly roads. This car has all the power and also the handling to cope with this easily, even in wet and snowy conditions. Another 5% of my driving is completely off-road in a national forest, and likewise this car meets this challenge without blinking. Finally, the last 5% of my driving is on a highway (off the mountain) and it copes with this easily as well."

Kenneth C., CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It has top quality handling. Easy to steer and small enough to park most anywhere. It accelerates a little slow but once 5th gear is reached it moves on out."

Linda M., VA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Driving a 2 dr jeep is for an experienced driver. It's not for a beginner. I love it. Excellent turning radius & excellent in bad weather conditions."

Pamela B., IL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Much better than expected. Was told jeeps are not fast, she can keep up on the turnpike over 70."

Constance G., PA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

Ted G., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The experience of a Jeep Wrangler is great. The simplicity of driving is so enjoyable"

J D., MI (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep handles very well and has great acceleration"

Terri N., OH (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Acceleration is good enough for me."

Anonymous, FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It has very good acceleration and handles well. For being a Jeep it is a pretty easy ride"

Anonymous, BC (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"On the road: The jeep has excellent acceleration and only fair handling charistics. Feels top heavy in sharp turns and does not handle well on wet roads. Off-road: But keep in mind the jeep is primarily an off-road vehicle. The jeep excells in acceleration and handling in off-road conditions."

Bobby H., LA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Engine would not accelerate a few times. I was stuck on the side of the road. A couple of times all it took to fix itself was to turn off the car and restart. A couple of other times it took 15-20 minutes to correct it. Nobody seems to know why!!!???"

Norm A., CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"6 speed manual has great acceleration and handling"

Anonymous, AZ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"very noisy at hwy. speed climate control does not work very well"

BRUCE D., AB (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Comfort is not on a luxury level by any means but it is fine for the type vehicle that the Wrangler is."

Anonymous, TN (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Seats do not have any lumbar support making them very uncomfortable"

Anonymous, OH (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The front seats are much more comfortable than I ever expected -- we drove across the country (NJ to CA) in 5 days and were very comfortable the whole way (even for this 69 yo man)."

KENNETH C., CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Seats are uncomfortable, road noise is loud"

JUDITH J., PA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"drivers seat gets uncomfortable in long drives ( over 2 hours without stopping)"

Anonymous, CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is what it is, it's a Jeep. It rides a little rough and is got considerable road noise. Even though we have had a few problems, some serious, it performs well for the reason we bought it."

JOE C., AR (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It's still a Jeep despite all the features and comfort options. It's made for rugged off road use."

STAN L., DE (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The ride and noise leval are both much better than I expected from a basic Jeep Wrangler."

HARRY B., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I took an extended road trip in the Jeep last year (about 30k miles in 13mo). I had been a little concerned about what the seat comfort would be like driving 9+ hours in a day, because long road driving is really not what the Wrangler is designed for. Every once in a while I stopped to think about it, and realized I had never experienced being uncomfortable in the seat while driving for those long hours. It was surprising."

WILL D., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The tires on this vehicle have big treads. The vehicle drives rough, rougher than expected. It also has too many speaks and rattles."

Anonymous, WV (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Seats are not terribly comfortable, could be improved ergonomically and be more adjustable. Rides like a truck, which is OK considering it's a Jeep. Little bit noisy."

Anonymous, ID (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The headrests sit a little too forward in my opinion, which makes it a little challenging at first to find the best driving position."

PABLO M., GA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"seats uncomfortable for longer trips, poorly padded and little lumbar or leg support"

JAMES M., IN (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The seats are very comfortable and the on-road ride is firm but very acceptable. At highway speed the steering is a little touchy and requires constant correction, but at slower speeds it is fine. compared to a regular car the ride is a bit noisy, but it's a Jeep-what do you expect. Off -road you feel every bump and the ride, noise and comfort are firm and stable with lots of feedback from the trail-exactly what you'd expect from a modern Jeep:"

Anonymous, CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"No lumbar seats. Not as comfortable as it could be."

Anonymous, MO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"My experience is that my Wrangler is much better than the negative press I see for this area of COMFORT (ride, noise, etc.). I am as comfortable riding in this vehicle as I am in my wife's top-end 2015 Suburban with only slightly more wind-noise but a better premium sound system ear-result."

Douglas D., OH (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is truck and the ride is like a truck. It is not comfortable on the highway, but my wife loves this car, therefore, so do I."

David W., ON (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It's a jeep designed for off road fun & it rocks. It's not a luxury vehicle. I love my jeep."

Pamela B., IL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Excellent, Perfect Posture, No Fatigue"

Anonymous, FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The jeep rides very good for the type vehicle that it is. I enjoy driving it around town and occasionally off-road. However, the off-road ride charteristics are not suited for trips over 250 miles. And I prefer to use my f-150 for long trips."

Bobby H., LA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Jeep is not too comfortable, and very noisy on the highway."

Ray M., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The seats cushions are higher in the front of the seat than in the back of the seat. This makes my spine hurt, and makes it difficult to move the leg easily from accelerator to brake. I use gel cushions to level the seat. Also, seat height can not be changed"

Anonymous, IA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Horrible ride"

Anonymous, NJ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The seats are very comfortable and easily adjustable for long trips as opposed to previous vehicles I have owned. Since It is a soft-top noise level is a little more than hard-tops but it does’t bother me personally."

Karen C., FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Jeeps are simply overpriced for what you get. Love the look and experience of a jeep, but no one is taking these off road, it's a $30K+ purchase and peeps are not going to "Dukes of Hazard" their new purchase. Why they don't have a jeep with a better gear ratio to increase gas mileage is an un-tapped market. They are not built to last, and to be honest they suck in winter. So the real "value" is the cool factor, because that's the only reason to buy a Jeep."

MICHAEL S., WI (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"One gets exactly what is expected with this, no surprises. It does not pretend to be a car (which CR critics)."

WILLIAM E., DE (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"it's a toy"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Seems to keep its value. Get a good trade in on it."

MICHAEL S., AR (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

Anonymous, AZ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I love the vehicle but wish it had more power. I owned a Mustang GT before the Jeep so this is a poor comparison but I would like to have a minimum of 350 HP in the Wrangler. I love the styling but overall, I do feel that the cost of the Jeep is high for what you get but you cannot deny that the resale value is fantastic."

SAMUEL C., NJ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"This is the first Jeep I've owned and I was very impressed how it handled off road large rocks, mud holes and streams with very little effort on my part. I felt very confident how it handled those conditions. It was also a much quieter and drove more comfortably on highways than we expected. The heater/ air conditioner was the fastest and best I've ever had."

Steve J., CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

Ted G., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Handling is top notch"

Anonymous, AZ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The versatility of this vehicle makes it great. You can take it off road and in tight situations. It handles well off road. It is easy to get around and park. It is a fun vehicle. It is not the most comfortable on a long drive. It is a classic style."

Judy P., FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I live in a snowy winter area. The jeep had no problems getting me through 4 feet of snow. Feel safe driving it in winter conditions and I hate driving in snow."

Anonymous, BC (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Because we live near the beach, Jeep Wranglers in the area are extremely overpriced. Good used ones cost as much as new ones."

Anonymous, FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Three years later, the resale value is shockingly high"

Leigh D., NC (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Wrangler retains resale value better then most any other vehicle."

Richard P., RI (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I got so many attentions for my Jeep than any other vehicles at this price range. $30K-40K"

Darius W., CA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It’s a basic 4x4 Jeep and it drives well and love the soft canvas top, wish this model had rear air (the newest models do) and more room"

Anonymous, GA (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Love the look"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Wrangler is a rugged outdoor vehicle that we use to get off the beaten path and see things the average person does not get to see."

Anonymous, AZ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Jeep's styling are generally the same however there are several interior options that do vary and we like the choices we selected"

Anonymous, CO (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Classic Jeep look"

GARY S., TX (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Looks Rugged. Love the convertible top."

SAMUEL C., NJ (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Classic jeep styling"

JUAN R., FL (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"I did not give the Jeep full marks for styling, because It is meant to be customized. Once I add the aftermarket parts that will make it custom, it will be the vehicle I wanted"

CRAIG W., ON (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"It is a hard top. I wish the back windows had the ability to slide open as it would improve the airflow and make it a bit more like the soft top feel but still have the benefits of the hard top such."

JUDY L., VT (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"The Wrangler is Jeep throughout! The most recognizable car on the road...other Wrangler owners wave to you as you drive. It's as much a cult as a car"

JOHN K., CT (2015 Jeep Wrangler)

"Jeep Wrangler is Jeep. Do not change the styling. Just keep the look it is"
