The Sedona has many features for the money, but still falls short of the class leaders. Controls are simple, fit and finish are good and it's easy to turn passenger space into cargo room. The Sedona's powertrain provides spirited acceleration and OK fuel economy. However, the basic design is showing its age. Handling is secure, but not agile, the ride is a bit stiff and the driving position is flawed.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"acceleration and handling are above average for similar vehicles and the vision area front and side mirrors are excellent"

John H., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"This van has excellent excelleration and stopping. Cornering is very good, holding corners well."

David H., OH (2012 Kia Sedona)

"The gear ratios are different from any car I have ever had. I must accelerate very slowly from a stop to prevent the wheels from spinning. Otherwise, handling is fine."

Mike Z., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"It has a lot of power. One of the most powerful vehicles I've ever had. Not surprisingly, since it's designed to haul 7 passengers and tow 3,500 pounds. Sometimes the handling over severe road imperfections can be a bit unsettled compared to newer models, and highway noise is a little louder than I like, but I really have enjoyed this van."

Darby G., MD (2012 Kia Sedona)

"It handles very good and the acceleration is great."

Laura P., TX (2012 Kia Sedona)

"mileage and up-keep are so economical"

Timothy T., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"I am short. This model handles easily and I feel that I can see better being up higher and further forward than in our Honda sedan."

Anonymous, CA (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Drives very smooth and handles well"

Debra E., WV (2012 Kia Sedona)

"The gas pedal needs a light touch for wet or slippery raods because it has rapid acceleration. The handling and traction in snow and ice is good."

Anonymous, WA (2012 Kia Sedona)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Kia is comfortable and handles well. It has lots of room, gets good gas mileage. We often use it to travel if we are not taking much with us. I wish the rear seats were easier to install. Mostly we have removed one seat and leave it out because it is too difficult to install. Even the dealership has had problems putting it back in"

LINDA M., MI (2012 Kia Sedona)

"wind noise on open road is very noisy"

Anonymous, FL (2012 Kia Sedona)

"This is my husband's car and he is shorter than I am. The cabin/seats are fairly comfortable.for him, but I find that the seats don't go back far enough for me when I am driving. The cabin is fairly noisy."

Anonymous, OH (2012 Kia Sedona)

"I think the noise level could be less. Seats are comfortable."

JAMES C., FL (2012 Kia Sedona)

"The Drivers seat does not lineup with the gas pedal. During long drives I end up with bruises on my right knee from the center console."

Anonymous, SC (2012 Kia Sedona)

"The seats are reasonably comfortable for a mini-van."

Anonymous, IL (2012 Kia Sedona)

"too much noise while going down the road"

Timothy T., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Extremely Comfortable sitting in any seat in this van. Great for long trips."

Debra E., WV (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Short on legroom for driver"

Anonymous, WI (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Drivers seat not kind to long legs. Noisy even with proper tires."

William G., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Seats & ride are good. I wish I didn't get as much wind noise."

Laura P., TX (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Not enough leg room for driver and lower back support is needed"

David H., OH (2012 Kia Sedona)

"It was sort of a desperation used car purchase that just needed to make at the time. I wasn't overly initially impressed with the ride and handling. But it grew on me over the years. I enjoy the seating position, the feel of the steering wheel, the reach and simplicity of the controls, the wide open cabin feel, and surprisingly, the amazing amount of power it has."

Darby G., MD (2012 Kia Sedona)

"We are retired and this is our only vehicle. We love the versatility of the seating arrangement and the comfort of the seats. Last summer we took our grandsons age 7 and 11 on a cross-country road trip. We put the third row seats down and put a cooler between the second row seats, and had a great time with the boys. We can fold the seats to accommodate passengers or to carry various size loads."

Anonymous, TX (2012 Kia Sedona)

"Too much wind noise when driving on interstate hwy. Seats are good, even on long trips. Ride is smooth and well controlled."

Bill O., FL (2012 Kia Sedona)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Good mileage and very adaptable to carrying large loads of people and cargo."

John H., NY (2012 Kia Sedona)

"The have never received the gas mileage that was stated on the sticker. We feel misled and, quite frankly, lied to about it by Kia. For this reason, this may be the last time we purchase a Kia vehicle."

Anonymous, IL (2012 Kia Sedona)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"The whole vehicle is a pile of cheap plastic. You can scratch with your finger nail cuts into almost all the of the interior."
