Kia's latest minivan makes a better mobile lounge than it does a road machine. Its strikingly-posh interior is a standout for a minivan. That could make the Sedona a terrific people mover -- if all people did was sit in it. But, alas, the luxury impression vanishes as you pull away from the curb. We bought a relatively modest mid-level EX to test.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"comfortable on long trips - efficient use of controls"

Roger B., DE (2017 Kia Sedona)

Anonymous, CA (2017 Kia Sedona)

"Very comfortable seats and ride on long trips. Not much road noise at all."

Anonymous, TX (2017 Kia Sedona)

"Very roomy. Seat warmers are a huge plus. Only complaint is the third row seats are not comfortable for adults."

Ari M., WI (2017 Kia Sedona)

"The bolsters on the front seats are wide and thick, leaving the seat flat area smaller and pushing into the thighs. The heating (row 1 & 2 seats) & cooling (row 1 only) system is great. The power movement controls (both front seats) are good. The front passenger seat also has power controls that can be accessed from the 2nd row of seats."

"stiff ride, driver leg room insufficient,"

"Cheaper than any others"

Byoungwk J., CO (2017 Kia Sedona)

"I love it. Comfortable, well designed, better mileage than listed. Great price on one year old vehicle. Buying used, like new was a great idea."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Kia Sedona)

"great value for the money! Kia really understands what the customer wants"

Thomas F., ON (2017 Kia Sedona)

"We were able to buy a 2017 that had been on the lot for a while so the dealer was willing to drop the price. But we’ve been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the build, the ride, and the ease of use for our family. We test drove lots of vans and the Sedona is one of the more comfortable and stylish in our price range. Plus the warranty doesn’t hurt."

John W., MD (2017 Kia Sedona)

"Well built, classy vehicle (for a mini-van)! The front panel is awesome, faux wood trim is great, not gaudy. Rear storage is great and the stow & go seats is are easy to handle. Middle-row seats do not stow, but fold up & slide forward for more storage space; stow & go would be nice though. Auto fold-in mirrors is a nice touch. Side and front object detection warning is great. Power doors and rear hatch work well. VERY nice vehicle; surprisingly good!"

Young R., MN (2017 Kia Sedona)

"You get a lot for the money from Kia, the middle model has all you need. The middle row seat are just fine as is."

Howard S., MO (2017 Kia Sedona)

"The nearest competitor with the desired safety systems on my Kia Sedona was a Toyota Sienna at over $10,000.00 more."

Emmett H., FL (2017 Kia Sedona)
