2010 Mazda 3 Owner Satisfaction - Consumer Reports
The Mazda3 has been one of our top-scoring small cars for several years, distinguished by agile handling and a well laid out, good-quality passenger compartment. The interior has been further upgraded, but the rear seating area remains a little tight. Road noise is still pronounced. Trim-line designations are bound to confuse.

R B., SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"I love everything about how this car drives. Have had problem with tires cupping on inside. Must rotate frequently."

"It is a super-fast car, great handling, so much fun to drive...long trips are fun!"

Julie H., GA (2010 Mazda 3)

"so much fun! handles like a charm, zips around town"

Jacquelyne S., IN (2010 Mazda 3)

Anonymous, MI (2010 Mazda 3)

"The car is quick and nimble and fun to drive. The big negative is road noise on the highway."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"Safe and very responsive"

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Outstanding! Hugs the road without any sense of loosing control. Fun to drive!"

Charles T., MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"Quick acceleration with the 2.5L engine. The automatic transmission is excellent with no typical automatic delays or sluggishness. The tiptronic shifting works well for windy roads."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"The handling, steering, and overall "fun to drive"-ness of the Mazda3 is the #1 reason we purchased the car and continue to enjoy it."

Anonymous, IA (2010 Mazda 3)

"The 3 barely leans when turning and accelerates quickly for a small, normally aspirated automobile. Zoom zoom."

Daniel M., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"These are probably the best features of this car - its acceleration and handling."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"Gear ratios are screwed up. Fifth gear is too low, resulting in engine running too fast at highway speeds. That results in a noisy drive and poor gas mileage. I do not believe the mileage rates that were claimed when I bought the car. Spoiler over back window draws dirt down onto the window so it's permanently dirty, particularly bad in wet weather."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"While acceleration and handling is outstanding, the road noise is a bit loud. It is fun to drive."

Margaret B., MA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Good acceleration. Very good handling."

Anonymous, WI (2010 Mazda 3)

"This car has always been fun to drive with excellent handling and good acceleration."

Dan D., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

D V., SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"The acceleration in this car is very good and it handles corners like it's on rails. Very good for 2.5 L engine."

Derek C., AB (2010 Mazda 3)

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

Adrian N., NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"The car is fun to drive, handling is sharp and precise and has decent acceleration."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"as it ages, seems like the engine noise is louder"

Anonymous, AR (2010 Mazda 3)

"Mazdas are fun to drive. We have the manual transmission so that makes it even more fun. Steering feel and throttle response is good and we have high confidence in the curves."

Michael Y., NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handles like on rails. Just put new Goodyear tires on it and made it even better. Engine has more than enough power for me."

Anonymous, PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Getting the engine upgrade was one of my best decisions, especially with manual shifting. The Sport package provided wider wheels, all of which makes a terrific driving experience."

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"The Mazda 3 epitomizes ZOOM ZOOM. The Mazda handles like a sports car at poor mans prices."

Daniel M., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Driving is fun! The engine is 2.5L so, for the size of the car, has good pickup and acceleration. I drive a manual and the car is simply a fun one to drive."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Best car I"ve ever had!"

W D., SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very fast and nimble, good exceleration"

Ryan M., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very good acceleration and extreemly satisfied with the handling on corners and curves."

Robert J., MO (2010 Mazda 3)

"Much more fun to drive compared to corolla."

Anonymous, OR (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handles and accelerates well. Not a lot of money for such a reliable automobile."

Robert C., MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"I got a stick and I gotta say 3rd gear is the bomb! I can out accelerate just about everyone. The handling is terrific. Not steering heavy at all. I read they even have a guy that checks the thickness of the steering wheel to make sure it's comfortable. It is!"

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Acceleration and handling are excellent for a car of this price. It is a lot of fun to drive"

John B., MN (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handling is excellent. Acceleration is blah."

Brian K., MN (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handles excellently. Can accelerate very quickly when merging onto freeway."

Anonymous, MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"Twice for me (I drive it rarely) and once for my wife, the driver wound up with foot on gas while braking for a stop sign or light. Car brakes slowly until driver figures it out. Dangerous - I won't drive it any more unless I absolutely have to. Knowing what we do now, would not have bought it."

P M., MA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I love how this car handles and it is extremely responsive when you put your foot down on the pedal. Possibly the only drawback and I have a couple of speeding tickets to prove it it seems not to want to poke along at 50 kids per hour. I have to keep an eye on the speedometer."

Jeff G., MB (2010 Mazda 3)

"Lackluster acceleration from optional 2.5L engine. One of the best handling front-wheel-drive cars I've ever driven."

Joshua F., OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"Head lights longer follow on turns. Negative"

Anonymous, NJ (2010 Mazda 3)

"This car drives so well for a car in this segment. It is FUN."

Sandy H., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Good highway driver."

Julian I., BC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Acceleration is OK but not impressive. Handling in the rain or wet roads is a little unnerving! Even with new tires! Driving in light to medium snow is a adventure. Forget heavier snow."

Tom G., OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very zippy and fun to drive."

Dan D., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Great handling car. good acceleration. difficult to keep tires from spinning under hard acceleration from standing start."

Anonymous, BC (2010 Mazda 3)

"3 has been very good. I am currently trying to see why we have tire wear issues. Acceleration with 2.5 engine is fast."

Joel N., KY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Quick off the mark, great turning circle, nimble."

Anonymous, IL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Quick acceleration and maneuvering"

James M., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I appreciate how quickly it accelerates, making merging onto the highway easier. I also like it's tight turning radius making parking easier. The slippery road indicator is also helpful."

Caroline F., IL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handling. Road contact experience."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"It handles very well on the highway and around town, and does not lack power."

Anonymous, BC (2010 Mazda 3)

David N., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very sporty drive nice response and handling steering easy to shift manually"

Brian L., NC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Awesome acceleration. No one expects this type of performance out of this particular car that looks like a typical subcompact. Does not get the deserved respect as a Hot Hatch."

Paul J., IN (2010 Mazda 3)

"Acceleration with the 2.5 liter engine is quick and handling is responsive and tight."

Anonymous, CT (2010 Mazda 3)

"Peppy and good acceleration for passing, etc. Handles smoothly."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"Excellent performance, fun to drive"

Anonymous, NJ (2010 Mazda 3)

"Just fun. Standard transmission adds to the sense of control and experience of the road. Low profile tires add to this good sense of driving, although they were enough of a pain on our very bad winter-pothole roads that i changed them out on the 2018 I leased."

Anonymous, NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very nice ride."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"Car is simply fun to drive. Handles great!"

"Suspension is way too soft."

Anonymous, NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"It's very "light" when driving. It's fun to drive and nimble."

Joseph C., ND (2010 Mazda 3)

"Outstanding acceleration and handling. Very fun to drive."

Debra M., NM (2010 Mazda 3)

"IS STILL AS NIMBLE AS THE DAY I BOUGHT IT IN 2009. NO OTHER CAR IN THIS CLASS IS BETTER IN CORNERING OR ACCELERATION. IT IS A THRILL TO DRIVE ON WINDY ROADS, THOUGH THERE IS ROAD NOISE FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING."

Geoffrey C., CT (2010 Mazda 3)

"Love the acceleration. Very peppy."

Lawrence R., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I have significant driving experience with two other 4 cylinder autos, a Corolla and a Vega. The Mazda handles and accelerates much better than either one of the other cars."

DONALD V., SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Great acceleration with the A/C off, if the A/C is on it lags a bit. At the time of buying the car, they advertised 40 mpg, I only get that on the highway, never for city driving. Going Hybrid while keeping the same acceleration and being a LOT more economical would make me buy this car again."

Anonymous, LA (2010 Mazda 3)

"very quick"

MARY D., OK (2010 Mazda 3)

"The responsive acceleration when merging into traffic is a comforting feature. The handling is responsive and makes me feel safe even in emergency situations. Overall the car is fun to drive and easy to park."

JOHN M., MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very quick and smooth, can count on it picking up when necessary"

P R., NV (2010 Mazda 3)

"A zippy, responsive compact car. A pleasure to drive in the city."

Anonymous, MN (2010 Mazda 3)

"The best thing about this car is its handling in curves (think go karts),and acceleration is enough to have fun (with a stick shift) without killing the mileage."

BARB C., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handling is perfection. Had Camry before and turning radius was horrible. Read review of Mazda comparing to driving a BMW. Review was right (had a BMW a long time ago)."

SHEILA G., OR (2010 Mazda 3)

"Great handling and responsiveness."

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"I have the Mazdaspeed 3, and it has great acceleration and handling. It gets good mileage, much better than the EPA predicted, but I do drive it responsibly."

PAUL J., IN (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handling and acceleration areally excellent"

Anonymous, NJ (2010 Mazda 3)

"It's a car to DRIVE, not a car to ride in. Even after 100k miles it corners well, the engine revs eagerly, and the ride is supple yet allows for clean handing."

JON A., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"It wears tires out prematurely due to the suspension settings. 45,000 is the max you can get on even a 60 or 70K mile tire. I switched from performance tires to regular tires. I got a little more tire wear, but a much rougher ride. The road noise is worse on the 2010."

Anonymous, IL (2010 Mazda 3)

"This car looks good and drives great! Very fun to drive, especially for the price. Awesome car."

DANIEL M., AL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Great acceleration in traffic for quick lane changing."

RYAN M., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Good acceleration for a small 4 cylinder car"

"Excellent steering, very good handling, good acceleration and braking"

NAJIA M., ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"great handling tracks straight good excel"

LOUIS G., FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Good on gas and has a peppy lil engine."

Anonymous, BC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Handling is superb and acceleration is quite good"

KENT R., FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very crisp go kart like handling"

PETER K., MB (2010 Mazda 3)

"Love how the mazda 3 looks and handles; interior is a bit loud. It doesn't bother me as much as it bothers my husband."

Anonymous, TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Responsive and quick acceleration in 99% of driving situations. Only felt the 2.5L four or six cylinder engine would be beneficial in a few situations. Handling is great; I feel confident in its ability to respond and handle all driving situations."

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"It's so fun to drive, feels like a sports car! The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder is very eager, quick and smooth, it feels like a V6! Steering feel is sporty. Extremely well weighted responsive and communicative. It inspires confidence, you really feel like you are in control."

TEDD S., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Decent acceleration for a small 4 cylinder car. Fun to drive with the manual transmission. Handles well."

ALAN V., IA (2010 Mazda 3)

"handling"

RONALD H., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"WOW! Like an engine with a car attached. I usually drive it like a grandma, and it is pretty quiet and subdued at low revs. But bring it above 2k, and it growls like a grizzly bear. Great balance between performance and daily driving. Handles well and comfortably."

Anonymous, WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Really fun to drive"

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Great car!! However, it was sold with High-Speed/Performance Tires ("V" level). The road noise and ride was terrible with them. They were replaced (due to wear) in the late 30,000 miles with better (and more appropriate) tires (as suggested by my former Pontiac Dealer which is now an automotive repair shop which I still use. Further, the Bluetooth is not the greatest as far as sound quality when speaking. At the same time, she is a really peppy car -- great pick-up when passing, very nice ga..."

P C., WI (2010 Mazda 3)

"It's not particularly comfortable for a taller person (i.e., around 6'), and the ride is quite stiff/rough. Seats-- the driver's seat at least--can get a bit uncomfortable during longer rides. A little noisier than I would like (engine revving, road noise transfer, wind), but not too bad."

Anonymous, PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very cheaply made interior. Seats are short, but provide adequate support."

James K., VA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Comfortable seats fair amount of road noise"

Anonymous, IA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Rough ride and noisy"

Ramses C., RI (2010 Mazda 3)

"The quality of the ride is excellent. Road bumps and pavement flaws are muted nicely yet the ride is taut and firm. Road noise is somewhat prominent but it's decently muted for a car in this price range."

Derek C., AB (2010 Mazda 3)

"Noisy"

Anonymous, MI (2010 Mazda 3)

"Seats narrow and uncomfortable on long rides."

Peter G., VT (2010 Mazda 3)

"Headrest is in a good position, good back support. Seat itself is a bit firm for long rides."

Anonymous, WI (2010 Mazda 3)

"Road vibration/noise into car cabin is very significant. At highway speeds, even on smooth surfaces, road noise is very significant and tiring on extended trips."

Anonymous, FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"The seats are economy level and the vehicle (maybe the tires) are a bit noisy. What I like about my Mazda 3 is the seat position. I am a petite woman and the driver's sseat allow my knees plenty of room in the driving position. Other cars, my knees are too close to the dashboard for comfort. I had a luxury car before this one but my economic status changed with the recession. The Mazda 3 offered precision steering, nice handling and acceleration, reliability at an economic price. Al..."

Nan K., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Highway road noise is so loud conversations are difficult."

Charles T., MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"Comfortable ride, but lots of road noise."

Dan D., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Black leather interior gets too hot in the sun. The road noise is louder than most cars."

Anonymous, MN (2010 Mazda 3)

"The seats are comfortable as is the ride. The only disappointment is the level of road noise on the highway which I find intrusive."

John B., ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"There is quite a bit of road noise in the cabin. That was improved slightly with a better choice of replacement tires, but it;s still bothersome. Also, the leg space for the driver is limited,. It places legs into an uncomfortable position after more than an hour's drive. We therefore never use this car for long-distance trips."

Joh V., OK (2010 Mazda 3)

"Cabin is noisy, seats are uncomfortable for long distance travel, ride is rough, and back seat leg room is almost non-existent."

Anonymous, CT (2010 Mazda 3)

"I would like future Mazda vehicles to be modified to reduce road noise + to allow for higher seat elevation."

Anonymous, MO (2010 Mazda 3)

"The comfortabitity on long drives"

Anonymous, NJ (2010 Mazda 3)

"When we originally bought the car, it had V-rated tires (for speeds around 150 mph.) which was totally inappropriate for the vehicle. The ride was excessively stiff, and excessively loud. The ride has become much better (smoother and quieter) since we put more appropriate tires on the car"

P C., WI (2010 Mazda 3)

"Road noise is the biggest problem with this vehicle. May seem like a small issues, but it is not on longer road trips."

Linda M., NC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Works well for city driving. For long trips, support and comfort of seating could be better."

Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"seats are uncomfortable for long rides"

Anonymous, MI (2010 Mazda 3)

"Noisy ride, seats good."

Ryan M., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Noise from all directions and sources. Heat on sunny days penetrating the thin roof insulation."

Anonymous, NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Absolute best drivers seat I've ever owned. Just superb ergonomics, I guess. Long 8hr drives remain sciatica free! Incredible and truly the best driver's seat I've had the pleasure of depositing myself in."

Thomas O., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I think the car handles fine. It is responsive to steering changes, brakes well, and has good visibility in every direction. I think the seats become less comfortable after a few hours, and there is some road noise."

Linda P., VA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Car seats are fair at best, especially for long trips. Constant noise hum from the road is annoying. The HACA blower fan at medium to high speeds causes a high pitched whistle either from vents or motor itself (dealer mechanics state it is not unusual for Mazda 3). Rear tailgate rattles on rough roads."

Kristen F., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"As it is a small car with front wheel drive the amount of road noise is perceptible. Other than the noise level I certainly like the ride. As I live in an area with a significant number of potholes in the spring I have to be vigilant about avoiding them but I am in the same boat as everyone else. I am a big man - 6'4" and 220 lbs. The head room is adequate and one of the reasons I purchased this car and eliminated some of the competition in the same class as in several of those my head was against the liner. I wish the seats offered more support."

Jeff G., MB (2010 Mazda 3)

"The seats are firm like a sports car. Nice for support but stiff for trips."

Anonymous, ID (2010 Mazda 3)

"Seats a bit cramped for long trips, ride somewhat harsh/noisy"

M M., MA (2010 Mazda 3)

"As I have gotten a bot older, the sporty suspension is not to my liking. It is a bit too harsh a drive."

Joe B., ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"The car is noisy on the highway. It is very effected by noise from tires. I installed new tires several years ago and they are much quieter. Cloth seats could be improved on."

William H., FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Seats are good for about 60 miles of comfortable riding. Car is noisier than our Jeep Grand Cherokee so we use it for trips of more than 60 miles."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Decent ride. Quite noisy, road noise. easy to get into a comfortable driving position."

Anonymous, BC (2010 Mazda 3)

"I am 5 foot 8 and the headroom is barely enough. Other 5hsn that, the car is perfect!"

Anonymous, TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Just never feels comfortable...ride seems to have a "cheap" and rough feel to it. And although the car is obviously small, it seems to have a lot of blind spots and awkward window angles that concern me. It's also somewhat awkward to get in and out of, and I'm not all that tall (6')"

Anonymous, PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very comfortable except for the road noise."

JOAN W., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"I wish it was a bit quieter - road noise is higher than I expect."

MARCUS R., FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Only issue might be the lack of room in the back seat. Since I am usually the only occupant, this is not a frequent concern"

Anonymous, FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"too much road noise"

Anonymous, AB (2010 Mazda 3)

"the air conditioner seems to work just fine but is not as strong or as cold as my previous vehicles, honda cars and crv. This is not a big issue."

CYNTHIA H., MD (2010 Mazda 3)

"The good: it's got good lower back support in its seats, love the way it handles. The bad, if you can call it bad: it has a lot of road noise, the interior on just about every Mazda is black. I do not like black interiors, why don't they make other colors? It shows dust and gets really hot in the summer"

LIZ C., MI (2010 Mazda 3)

"Rod noise is too loud."

KEVIN P., NS (2010 Mazda 3)

"I would like it to be quieter at high speeds. Otherwise I am completely satisfied with its reliability, performance and handling. At over 100,000 miles I have yet to make any major or minor repairs beyond routine maintenance of tires and brakes."

MARCIA W., GA (2010 Mazda 3)

"The seats are not very comfortable"

Anonymous, AL (2010 Mazda 3)

"Noise level could be lower"

B L., NJ (2010 Mazda 3)

"Lots of road noise and wind even when windows are closed. Stiff and bumpy ride."

BENJAMIN T., KS (2010 Mazda 3)

"There are a few blind spots from the pillars, but I sit up high enough to have a good view of things. The seats are very comfortable and wide enough. All of the controls are reachaable without looking. The air conditioner could be stronger, and the road noise level is high. The ride is very comfortable: between a luxury car and a sports car."

L R., OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"Interior comfort is adequate, but the lumbar adjustment needs to be supplemented by a pillow. Rather noisy inside, but handles very well in curves, making it fun to drive, especially with the stick shift. The a/c get the job done."

BARB C., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Air leaks at Windows, gear shifter not working properly. Recirculate diverter loud clicking had to disconnect"

"Seats are NOT comfortable. Seat back and head rest leave body bent forward unless you put seat back to keep head rest from "pushing" your head and neck forward. My posture is worse since getting this vehicle."

SHARON B., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"My biggest complaint, and it's a small thing, is that there is too much road noise and almost no engine sound in the cabin."

ROBERT S., CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"To tight/not enough space in the back seat. Very limited space."

GRZEGORZ P., NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Ride is firm but somewhat noisy."

JOHN R., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Inadequate A/C. Does not cool off interior on hot days. Black dashboard does not help either. It radiates quite a bit of heat, offsetting any coolness from A/C."

Anonymous, VA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Seats are a bit narrow, causing pressure on the outside of my legs."

Anonymous, CO (2010 Mazda 3)

"The backseats do not have comfortable legroom. It has a noisy interior but, that gets solved if you turn the radio high ;)"

Anonymous, LA (2010 Mazda 3)

What Owners Say

"I bought during the economic down turn (late 2010) and got a very good deal with a no interest loan. This model also has stick. The car has been trouble free."

Michael Y., NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"It is a good value for the money."

"Outstanding driving experience. Handling & cornering are as good as Ford Mustang we owned. Excellent control on snow, ice & rain."

Dale B., OK (2010 Mazda 3)

"Great value for features and type of vehicle. Hatchback is very convenient."

Bruce E., ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"For what I paid, the car has provided a very good value. Car has been very reliable with only 1 significant transmission problem in 8 years. This does not include recall repairs by manufacturer which were taken care of at no cost to me."

Anonymous, FL (2010 Mazda 3)

"At 105000 miles, absolutely no repairs needed, just regular maintenance."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"The car has been reliable, sporty, and fun to drive, as well as getting 35+ MPG. For a <$20K vehicle, it couldn't be beat."

"It was not an expensive car and has had no real issues since it was purchased. Don't drive it much at the moment, but it is always reliable when I do. Decent enough value...I'm not expecting much on refinement and it delivers where it needs to."

Anonymous, PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very good. Great reliability, low maintenance costs so far, high MPG (35 highway/30 city). Perky acceleration and handling. Good safety record. Low cost to insure. Only negatives: seats can be uncomfortable, not insulated well for road noise, air conditioning is not as cold as I'd like (from day 1)."

Paul A., NM (2010 Mazda 3)

"Had it since 2010, never had a repair, drives/handels well, good economy. Cost per mile has to be extremely low."

Stephen-Liz P., WA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I occasionally drive this car. Twice I had my foot on both brake and gas, essentially accelerating as I tried to come to a stop. My wife is the primary driver, and she had it happen once. We plan to get rid of this car due to this safety issue."

"Performance is much better than a 1970s 4 cylinder car I owned. Hatchback design allows for large objects. (bicycle, lumber) Maintenance costs are low. (oil changes, filters)"

"The hatchback design has very good storage capacity. The braking, handling and acceleration are very good for a compact car."

Donald V., SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"We've had this car for 8 years. It's been reliable and consistent and fun to drive. For this price point the car is good looking, handles well, gets fairly good mileage, has good space for hauling 'stuff'. Only complaint is the low profile tires - I had to replace tires at least 3 times due to bad winter road conditions."

P C., WI (2010 Mazda 3)

"A lot was included in the price, overall a very good value for the price"

John B., MN (2010 Mazda 3)

"Excellent value. Quality for a reasonable price. Test drove all of the compact cars-Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, etc. Mazda was by far the best."

Debra M., NM (2010 Mazda 3)

"Got a great price in 2010 and a 0% interest loan. It was just when the the economy was turning around and car dealers were motivated to sell. The car itself is well equipped, reliable, and has low maintenance costs."

Michael Y., NY (2010 Mazda 3)

"Offered the value of Japanese-engineered compact cars."

Julian I., BC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Terrific value. This car costs less than $19000, with 0% 5 year financing. The per-year cost is astoundingly low for such a fun and great looking car."

Joh V., OK (2010 Mazda 3)

"The features on our Mazda 3 would have been found on higher cost trim levels on the competitors products. This is one of the factors that influenced our decision to purchase the Mazda 3."

"Got a great deal when buying one model year old, immediately prior to a big redesign of the Mazda 3."

Dan D., TX (2010 Mazda 3)

"Really great price for what you get with the car. The Honda Civic SI with the same features was $7k more. Granted you got 10 more horses but for that price, the Mazda was a steal."

"This was my first car purchase, and eight years and 117,000 miles later, I'm still very happy with the car. The styling continues to look current, the car continues to drive well, and I've had very few reliability concerns. It's not a fancy car but I've gotten more than my money's worth."

Anonymous, CA (2010 Mazda 3)

"I bought it in the fall of 2009 with ~16000. I have being driving it for almost 10 years as of now. No extra cost except for regular maintenance/tires/battery"

"EXCELLENT VALUE THROUG HTE FIRST 100,000 MILES. VERY LITTLE UPKEEP COST. I HAVE HOWEVER PAID ABOUT $6,000 FOR FAILURES OF MULTIPLE SYSTEMS SINCE THEN (STEERING, STARTER, ALLOY WHEELS, AXLES) I NOW HAVE A "STICKY" TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION."

Geoffrey C., CT (2010 Mazda 3)

"The reliability of the Mazda 3, even after 8 years, makes me not regret anything. The price-performance relationship is very rewarding."

"Good accelaration and fuel consumption"

Anonymous, AB (2010 Mazda 3)

"There is an engineering design flaw in the TPMS where the TPMS valve stem connects to the wheel which causes it to fail catastrophically. Because the repair costs for this failure are significant (first incident cost ~$150 for replacing TPMS unit; second incident cost ~$800 to replace TPMS unit, bent wheel, and damaged tire). Mazda refuses to recognize this as a design flaw and outside of warranty, owners are left on their own to cover the costs. (CR...wish there was a category in this survey I"

"Very overpriced. Dealer would not cancel deal within 24 hours. Could have had a much larger car for the price I paid. But it WAS a nice car."

JOHN A., IN (2010 Mazda 3)

"bullet proof; fun to drive; great mileage; safe, I totaled my prior Mazda 3 in t-bone accident at 40 mph"

What Owners Say

"don't like the big grin that is the front grill of the car."

Anonymous, SC (2010 Mazda 3)

"Love the car overall although the paint (white) I am pretty dissatisfied with how it has aged. (Rust specs etc)."

GREG W., ON (2010 Mazda 3)

"Very balanced design, just enough rounding of the rear to look speedy while sitting still. The roof hangover in the rear protects the window and adds to the balance."

L R., OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"It is an aggressive looking car."

DALE B., OK (2010 Mazda 3)

"The sweeping body style that gives the car a sporty feeling. The high rear deck and trunk reduce visibility when backing up. A rear view camera would help immensely on this model year."

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"The rear spoiler on the top of the hatchback is too big and causes the top of the rear window to get dirtier faster. It also makes the rear window harder to clean outside. I believe Mazda has since addressed this issue on later model years."

Anonymous, OH (2010 Mazda 3)

"It looks kind of sporty for a sedan. The color is quite pretty also"

LAURA W., AB (2010 Mazda 3)

"The "smile" on the front grille is what 1st grabbed my attention, and is still one of the best features. 7 years after purchase I continue to get smiles and double takes. Children point and say, "Look, that car is smiling." I'm not sure that was the intended design "look" but that's what I like. I also like the low profile wing on the trunk and the sparkle built into the silver paint. The headlight design is practical as well as stylish. The bumper design also outstanding. Moonroof is the icing"

SHARON B., PA (2010 Mazda 3)

"This Mazda is a GT Hatchback with 2.5L engine and all the goodies. Lines are similar to other HB,s but looks good"

ALLAN C., NV (2010 Mazda 3)

"I love the sleek, low profile design on my Mazdaspeed3 as well as it's acceleration."
