Voice sensing doesn't work well. Saying nearest place when it finally understands doesn't indicate direction so is useless unless the only concern is picking the closest one. Display was eratic but seems to have fixed itself when new car battery was installed"

The same unit consistently has Bluetooth pairing problems. Mazda knows they have this problem!! This was a straight up RIP OFF by Mazda. Anonymous, TX (2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"Navigation voice commands never worked. Even the dealers employers could not make it work. Mazda was no help. many people at the dealership knew that the voice comand does not work. Tom Tom, the Mfg. of the system never came up with a patch to fix it. We just use our I-phone. ($2000 down the drain)"
William H., OR (2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"This TomTom GPS is a complete piece of junk. Even immediately after updates, the maps are years out of date. Navigation has major errors that will put you in an endless loop, take you down roads that don't exist, don't recognize when you are on roads that have existed for almost a decade, cease to work, map/screen spins like Linda Blair's head in the Exorcist, --my favorite... my CX-5 did 168 MPH! according to this worthless piece of garbage. I carry my 16-year-old Garmin portable because it is better. Related.. Voice recognition is terrible. It so badly mispronounces major towns and streets, that voice recognition can't find them. (e.g., The Okanagan Valley in Canada has many streets with this name. I discovered by accident that it is badly mispronounced. When I use this mispronunciation, it works. This is true of many streets/roads/towns/cities.) Without pronunciation problems, it cannot find addresses that my old Garmin can find even not having been updated for many years. My wife's iPhone finds these addresses immediately. Mazda knows of this problem, has known of this problem for years. Why isn't this Fraud... selling something you know is defective... I paid EXTRA for this piece of junk! When I called to complain, they offered $200 Mazda money to purchase a Garmin at the dealer... where it is overpriced by about 75% (making this offer an insult, considering what I paid for this electronics package). Also related... the Bluetooth pairing is so unreliable that the dealers all have a single sheet of paper they give owners to help them deal with this problem, and a number to call for technical assistance. I feel I got ripped off to the tune of $1500 for this high end GPS navigation system, sound system, bluetooth phone system. I don't trust Mazda at all... and won't until they admit they made a mistake, will correct it, and will compensate me what I paid for this unreliable, dangerous, frustrating POS system."

We kept trying to re-initialize our cell phone Bluetooth and contacts and many weeks later it just re-appeared. Mazda command system for 2014 very sub par"
Tom H., CA (2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"Bluetooth disconects; very unstable"
Anonymous, QC (2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"The system will connect then disconnect repeatedly during a phonecall, making it impossible to have a meaningful hands free conversation in the Mazda. This is Dangerous and incredibly inconvenient. It is a KNOWN problem by Mazda as they have an information sheet about this problem, and a unit at Mazda USA dedicated to responding to these frustrating issues. Based on my experience with Mazda electronics, the entire design crew should be fired, and I won't buy another Mazda"

Ken K., OH (2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"There is a firmware update required for the MP3 to work properly. The problem is a conflict between the cell phone bluetooth module and the MP3 player. Mazda has a fix but the dealership wants to charge a diagnostic fee $$ just to look at the problem. This is a non-refundable, non-applicable to cost of fixing. Mazda TIB states exactly what needs to be done. Dealership wants $$$$ for the parts (yes thats into a thousand dollars to fix a radio) as well as the cost of labor and the few hundred diagnostic fee. Not going to pay that for an MP3 player. Next time I will check TIB's before buying another car."

Anonymous, OH (2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl)"The amplifier for the front speakers and hands free phone use stopped working. Even though this is a known problem with the factory equipped sound system, Mazda was not able to help me with it. There were no amplifiers available to purchase, and because my sound system was not under warranty, I could not get one through warranty service, even if I paid for it. In addition, I could not send it for repair because it is too new and Mazda has not released the repair specs. On top of everything else, it is a very expensive item to replace, if the time ever comes when one can be purchased. My only option is to replace the entire sound system at a very high cost."
