Almost forgotten by car buyers, the Mazda CX-9 provides a pleasant three-row SUV alternative. Agile handling that masks its size is a nice surprise, as a run down a twisty back road will attest. The ride is firm and steady, proving comfortable on a variety of roads and the quiet cabin contributes to a calm cruise.

    Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

    What Owners Say

"It has been a work horse and is still going strong. Comfortable, versatile for inner city and long distance driving. plus it has great utility. Never feels under powered, and can handle winds and hills easily."

    Anonymous, NC (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Drives like a large car. Acceleration is decent. Having said that, the fuel economy is atrocious. It's a 2010... even back then, 18 mpg (on a good day) shouldn't have been acceptable."

    Cliff K., OK (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"This CX-9 is smooth, QUIET, and sporty. I emphasize quiet because compared the the Honda we previously had this thing is quiet."

    J D., MI (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Despite the size of the CX-9, it drives and handles in the legendary Zoom-Zoom Mazda way. It feels like the safest vehicle in the world. Too bad more people don't know how superior Mazdas are-- their sales should be way higher than they are, especially in the U.S., In My Humble Opinion."

    Peter S., NM (2010 Mazda CX-9)

    Anonymous, IL (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Strong acceleration, sporty transmission, and fun to push harder. Fuel consumption does suffer but given specs on SUV understandable."

"You don’t feel the bumps in the road."

"acceleration when needed for passing or entering from a on ramp"

    LEONARD S., AZ (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Acceleration is great for such a big car. I can pass anyone going up the mountain on the interstate. Drives like a sports car mated to a luxury SUV."

    Anonymous, VA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

    "Drives like new"

    W E., PA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"The handling is excellent, drives more like a car than an SUV. Acceleration is particularly appreciated at highway speeds, even in excess of 80 mph."

    ROBERT H., MN (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Acceleration and handling is superb. This car is very nimble while still achieving a very good mpg for its size."

    PAMELA S., MI (2010 Mazda CX-9)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

    What Owners Say

"This is the most comfortable car I have ever driven. It is the only car with leather seats and upgraded interior that I have owned."

    Anonymous, NJ (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Front seats are actually quit comfortable. Road noise can be a bit excessive at times, and like all 3 row vehicles, the middle and back seats aren't the most comfortable, but certainly adequate."

    Cliff K., OK (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Leather drivers seat has excellent adjustability. Firm but comfortable. Good viability. Cabin is comfortable and quiet. Superior handling for an SUV in this class."

    Anonymous, ON (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Quick & nimble for a vehicle of this size"

    J D., MI (2010 Mazda CX-9)

    James M., PA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

    Anonymous, IL (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Comfortable ride overall, but seems stiff when going over bumps"

    C N., CA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

    W T., AZ (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Adjustable lumbar support in driver seat. Quiet ride as compared to Volvo. Very roomy space for family groups."

    Anonymous, ME (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"It is a little noisy, especially on the highway. I often think I have a window open when I do not."

    Anonymous, VA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Good seat position, wind noise a problem, Seat material is not wearing well."

    Anonymous, TX (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Plenty of room for a family of five whether dropping off at school or taking week long road trips. Also, there's lots of room for hauling bikes and occasionally a pressure washer. It's a very useful and flexible vehicle."

    MICHAEL M., TX (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"I like the versatile positioning of the driver's seat. I wish it had the same positioning options on the passenger side. I also wish the driver's side had a handle, as I am disabled and could use something to grab when I'm getting into the car. As for road noise, the car could use a little bit more noise insulation."

    HOLLY D., OR (2010 Mazda CX-9)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

    What Owners Say

"roomy, good climate controls, excellent audio system"

    Anonymous, IL (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"Unlike my F150, we were amazed by what a great value the CX-9 was for the money. It has all the essential features and they all work well. When we compared it at the time to the competition we were surprised the price wasn't higher for all it has to offer. It's a ball to drive, very snappy and handles well. Only option I wish we could have gotten was the GPS but we bought the car off the lot and was one of the last 2010's available in early 2011 when we were ready to buy."

    Jeffery B., OH (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"I bought the CX9 for 25k certified preowned. New similar CX9s were selling for 40k. Got a great value with a lot of features"

    KEVIN B., MA (2010 Mazda CX-9)

"great car.....would like some better mileage and more comfort in front passenger seat to match the rest of a gteat car"

    W T., WA (2010 Mazda CX-9)
