The Nissan Altima is among our better rated family sedans. The 2.5-liter, four-cylinder delivers better performance than some six-cylinder engines and an impressive 25 mpg overall. The 3.5-liter V6 is very powerful yet delivers 23 mpg overall. The 2.5 S has good handling and absorbs bumps better than the 3.5 SE, which is stiff and jittery, but corners better. Interior quality is very good, but rear-seat room is a bit tight.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"Quick acceleration, quiet and comfortable"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Nissan Altima)

Ray R., KS (2007 Nissan Altima)

"great handling and accelerating"

Anonymous, OH (2007 Nissan Altima)

"It hesitates on acceleration, and the engine sounds very loud. It also takes forever for the car to change gears when shifting into Drive or Reverse. There is a distinct "jerk" when the car does engage in one of those gears."

Anonymous, TX (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Accelerates nicely to highway speeds and handling is secure"

Anonymous, CT (2007 Nissan Altima)

"adequate accelation, transitions from gas to electric power fairly smooth, encourages "steady state" driving"

Anonymous, MA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Good acceleration Responsive steering"

Anonymous, SK (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Purchased 8 cylinder engine for quick acceleration in heavy urban traffic, styling and color factors in purchase, mechanical reliability has been excellent, comfort driving is excellent, body is damaged easily from low impacts, mileage is excellent"

Roger A., GA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"This car is pretty fast. Around 7 second 0-60, mid 14s on a 1/4 mile. Faster than most cars on the road for sure. The ride is extremely smooth with the CVT transmission. You can't even tell the car shifts. At WOT the RPMs come up and stay around 6K until you run out of road. handling is pretty good for the size. you aren't going to out perform a sports car but I haven't been able to get the car to break loose (I have been known to drive very spirited at times). If you need to make an eme..."

Hasan L., CA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Good acceleration handles very nicely."

D N., SC (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Very good acceleration for a 4 cylinder."

Ray R., KS (2007 Nissan Altima)

D M., NY (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Very peppy and satisfying acceleration"

Anonymous, CT (2007 Nissan Altima)

"The roads in my area aren't well maintained and this car is more forgiving than my other car when it comes bumps and holes on curved entrance and exit ramps. (no over steer)"

Tim S., OH (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Handles well. Quiet. Accelerates quickly."

Brenda T., FL (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Heavy torque steer from startup - disconcerting at times. Headlights are side-blind - this is not a car for tight mountain roads at night. Also - not a driving factor, but the Nissan keyless fob will constantly unlock your trunk / honk your horn, etc., if kept in a front pocket. I've unsoldered two of the buttons - it was really an issue. I thought this was high-tech normal until I bought a Toyota. Nissan has a "pretty" fob, but it's very prone to accidental button presses if you keep it..."

Robert T., CO (2007 Nissan Altima)

"This 6 cylinder SE model is very fast. It holds the road well for a family car but handling is not outstanding. However, it can embarrass many sports cars from a stoplight."

DENISE G., PA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Exceptional acceleration and handling"

SAM T., NV (2007 Nissan Altima)

"great acceleration for a four cylinder car. Handles very well."

K B., IL (2007 Nissan Altima)

TIM S., OH (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Great acceleration at high way speeds. Tight control."

Anonymous, WI (2007 Nissan Altima)

"while in mountains in northern Georgia Altima would not climb steep driveway with 4 passengers. two passengers had to get out, and then I wasn't sure it would make it. when returning to fla and discussing the problem with Nissan dealer, they simply insured everything was within Nissan specs and that was all they could do. when talking to Nissan corp rep they refered me to the dealer!!!!"

GENE S., FL (2007 Nissan Altima)

"IT has good acceleration and handling"

SANDY M., IL (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Seats are comfortabld. Handling is a bit bumpy- feel what feels like "all" the bumps in the road."

Anonymous, MD (2007 Nissan Altima)

"The Nissan Altima's are over all great cars. The V6 models are for sure sleeper cars. Very fast and very good handling for a medium/large sedan. (The I4 has decent pickup also). Very comfortable. Seats are comfy (I have leather seat), front and back. Ride is soft but doesn't not compromise handling. Smoothest transmission ever. They are very quiet also. And the truck is HUGE. My 2007 has had almost zero issues and has 147,000 miles on her at 10 years old. The only issues I have had tha..."

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Again, it had the most features at the lowest cost compared to competing models. It replaced an 1997 Altima that again was much less expensive than competition with many more features."

Anonymous, MA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"One of the best vehicles I ever owned. 157,000 miles and the only work it needed was routine maintenance. Paint and interior look as good as the day I bought it."

Fran B., PA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Best Altima ever. At 257000 miles it still has the original engine and transmission. Only repair I had was a recall that Nissan would not pay for. Other wise a great car."

Phillip K., TX (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Very good value for the price I paid. It rides well, handles quite well, has plenty of power and a large trunk and looks good."

Richard M., WA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Gas mileage on highways is really good."

Ray R., KS (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Went over 80,000 miles without doing anything but changing the oil. Between 80k and 100k miles replaced the battery, tires and breaks. Now over 140k miles and still only normal maintenance items."

Christopher S., IL (2007 Nissan Altima)

"10 years later I am still happy with this car."

Anonymous, MA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Body construction materials are very vulnerable to damage that can be very costly. The body seems to be almost eggshell fragile resulting in cracks and dents that can only be repaired with whole parts such as rear side panels, etc."

Roger A., GA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Very good basic car. Comfortable, quiet and good acceleration and handling. Have had no maintenance issues - only normal stuff like oil changes, fluid changes, tires, battery and drive belt."

Anonymous, CT (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Given that this car is 11 years old and has driven close to 200,000 miles, it has worked unbelievably well. Besides normal maintenance repairs, we have had no trouble with the car at all. So worth the money!"

Anonymous, WI (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Less for fuel costs, larger range on a tank of gas, and maneuverablity are all pluses"

Jack R., AZ (2007 Nissan Altima)

"This is the first Nissan that I have owned as I formerly purchased a few Toyota products in the last 10 years. I am very pleased with the price I paid for this car used and it rides very good and has plenty of leg room for a mid sized car. It is economical to run and I a haven't had any major issues with it's mechanics. Their are only two negative things about this product for me and that has been the jerky shifting of the transmission at lower speeds and I am ready to replace the flex connector"

Anonymous, PA (2007 Nissan Altima)

"233000 miles with the original engine and transmission with no problems or repairs to either."

PHILLIP K., TX (2007 Nissan Altima)

"No problems"

ANDREW R., ON (2007 Nissan Altima)

"I got the luxuries of a bmw or audi for half the price in a more reliable car"

Anonymous, FL (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Completely trouble free ever since we got it. In-city mileage is ~ 24 and hiway mileage is 34. All we do is routine maintenance."

Anonymous, OH (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Not as reliable as we hoped for."

Anonymous, NJ (2007 Nissan Altima)

"Consumer Reports had rated as Very Reliable. Turned out to be the most reliable car that we ever owned."

ERIC L., WV (2007 Nissan Altima)
