Despite a few high points, the Nissan Altima is not competitive among midsized sedans. In a segment brimming with better cars, the Altima is a lackluster choice. It ranks below virtually all of its competitors with a humdrum driving experience. Among its virtues are a roomy rear seat and good fuel economy. With the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder, we measured a commendable 29 mpg overall.

"The seats are the most comfortable I have owned. I can drive for hours without stopping to stand because the seats are comfortable"

Anonymous, TN (2017 Nissan Altima)

"I am 6 4 and I can adjust it to drive very comfortably. The only thing I had to do was turn the head rest around fr the driver and front passenger seat to not force our heads down. We sit fully upright."

George M., VA (2017 Nissan Altima)

"We had a Corolla for five years and put over 35,000 highway miles on it. The Nissan by comparison is total luxury! Love the leather seats that operate to my personal comfort by the push of a button."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Nissan Altima)

"Seats are very comfortable. Adds to the ride enjoyment"

Marilyn W., NY (2017 Nissan Altima)

"I wish the driver's seat had lumbar support."

Linda M., WI (2017 Nissan Altima)

"type and color of material on seats-smooth riding"

Robert M., CA (2017 Nissan Altima)

"The seats are very comfortable."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Nissan Altima)

"seats are extremely comfortable and adjustable"

Thomas H., NJ (2017 Nissan Altima)

"I find the Nissan Altima seats to be uncomfortable when I am the driver or am the passenger. The head rests make my head push forward slightly, there is not enough lumbar support and on long trips my back will definitely not be happy. I am 5'2" tall and need to sit up straight in cars. While both of these could be factors, I have not had back issues in my Toyotas. Also, we had to purchase after market covers for the head rests, as the material used to cover them would pull my hair! Very uncomfortable and annoying! Never had this issue in any vehicle in my lifetime!"

Liz-Don W., NY (2017 Nissan Altima)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Great ride, quality interior and acceleration is amazing"

Valerie M., CT (2017 Nissan Altima)

"The Altima is a good value concerning the comfort, room. and MPG."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Nissan Altima)

"Great value. Amazing car for the price."

Alberto M., FL (2017 Nissan Altima)

"The dealer switched cars before delivery. I will take a picture of the vin number of the car they are showing me. Everyone should be advised to do this. I know of another case where this was done to a friend of mine."

Marilyn W., NY (2017 Nissan Altima)

"The Safety features-rear view camera and bling zone alert warning make is car worth the price. Nissan made tremendous improvements over previous Nissan cars that I owned."

Robert M., CA (2017 Nissan Altima)

"It cost nearly as much as the redesigned Camry and Optima and was virtually identical with the 2015 model. Because of its lack of acceleration and its lackluster mileage, I would rate it overpriced. But it did have features the others did not."

Anonymous, OH (2017 Nissan Altima)

"Great sporty look. Great acceleration and breaking. Incredible seat comfort. Wonderful safety features. Pleasure to drive. Would buy it again."

Anonymous, NJ (2017 Nissan Altima)

"very satisfied"

Anonymous, VA (2017 Nissan Altima)
