With this iteration, the long-running Pathfinder was transformed from a truck-based workhorse into a softer, gentler, car-based SUV with three rows and seven seats. The enlarged interior and easier access moved it closer to a family-friendly minivan substitute. But we found the Pathfinder to be a little too much like a minivan.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"We are impressed with the CVT transmission. It does very good at optimizing power and economy!"

Anonymous, IL (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Besides brake issue which has been repaired through a recall this vehicle handles very well in all road conditions."

DAVID S., TN (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The vehicle bucks at slow speeds like a manual tranny in a gear to high from a stop. Adding throttle makes it stop."

Anonymous, CA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Acceleration is adequate but handling is poor. Braking distance seems especially lengthy."

L D., WV (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Have really enjoyed driving this car. It's fast off the go when needed in both 2 wheel & all wheel drive. Traction is accurate and braking in total is highly effective. A great drive. Only problem is cabin noise."

B B., AB (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"The seats are too stiff and I get numb after driving for 2 hours. Had to purchase gell pads for driver and passenger seats."

HEIDI L., NC (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"It's a quiet ride and that is good as I do lots of calling through the blue tooth."

MATTHEW M., WI (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Seats are comfortable, but driver and rear seat leg room is poor."

L D., WV (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The ride is very comfortable and usually smooth, even for people with motion sickness. AC system works very well. Seats are very comfortable"

JULIE S., SC (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Middle row seat sliding function was critical for using with 3 small children and attendant car seats."

SEAN-MELISA B., MA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"There is an intermittent short in my power seats and power mirrors. Some times they work and some times they don't. The dealer's mechanics can not find the problem."

D N., TX (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The seats are very comfortable and I especially like the sliding function that makes it easier to get in and out of the car."

Anonymous, ON (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The seats are not as comfortable as I would expect for a vehicle of this caliber. On long drives they leave a lot to be desired. The ride is too bouncy on rough roads. Stiffer suspension or adjustable suspension would be a be a big benefit."

BRIAN H., TX (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"the seats and ride are very good and the ventilated front seats are nice in Arizona."

DAVID M., WA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Our Pathfinder has 39K miles, but the seats are VERY uncomfortable on long drives. The padding has broken down already. We now have purchased foam pads to remediate."

Anonymous, KS (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Rear two rows of seats are very uncomfortable for adults"

Anonymous, GA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The ride is nice seats are comfortable and overall noise at speed is acceptable. Climate controls work well and a/c and heat work well"

R S., AZ (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"It would be better if there was less outside noise getting inside."

J D., MA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Car can not cool on very hot day. Car does not heat interior enough on very cold day. Windows prone to freezing, does not go up after being opened in freezing weather. Has to drive with windows open in freezing weather!"

Anonymous, MA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"This vehicle is a very comfortable ride for long or short trips."

DAVID S., TN (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"This is one of the most expensive cars I have owned. The brakes needed to be replaced within the first 15 months, the tires within 2 years. They ( the dealer shop) told me my battery cables were corroding within 15 months of owning the car and needed to be replaced. The door frame has rusted. The hood of the car has rusted. I have contacted Nissan and because their warranty is the 36000 miles. They don't care the car is not yet 3 years old. I normally keep cars 10-20 years. (With no rust) AND ha"

KAREN R., IL (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"I bought a new 2013 in 2014 and got a great deal on it!"

Anonymous, CA (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"It was a basic SUV with none of the bells and whistles that the more expensive models had and that is what we wanted - no unwanted or unneeded extras. We are very happy with this economy model and other than the windshield side posts being a major hazard for seeing vehicles coming from the side at a four-way intersection, we would probably purchase one again."

FRANK T., OR (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"It is very family oriented, roomy, versatile, interior & exterior are very good. 29,600 miles & no repairs so far."

MAJDI S., FL (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Nice styling compared to previous model. Inside leather and simulated wood is nice looking and every bit as nice as SUV's costing much more. First and second row seats are comfortable on long trips."

R S., AZ (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Love the full sunroof, power and gas mileage"

Anonymous, KY (2013 Nissan Pathfinder)
