The long-running Pathfinder has transformed from a truck-based workhorse into a softer, gentler, car-based SUV with three rows and seven seats. An enlarged interior and easier access moves it closer to a family-friendly minivan substitute, which could be a good thing.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"It is great while driving on the interstate higheays. Can eadily accelerate to pass the 18 wheelers and still hsve control of the vehicle"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Acceleration boat towing"

Roger T., PA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"About 10% of the time there is a hesitation in pressing the accelerator pedal where there is no response. No acceleration occurs. I must pump the accelerator to get a response from the vehicle. My 2015 Pathfinder had the same problem."

Anonymous, TN (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The Pathfinder has very fast, smooth acceleration and handles well."

Barry H., AB (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"We like our Pathfinder. The one thing I can say is that in low gear it can be sluggish to get up to speed. It’s like it looses power but then it kicks in. We use it for family long 12 to 14 hour trips and it does well. MPG is great for the size of the vehicle. I wish it had a 9 speed transmission instead of a SVT to be honest."

Anonymous, NC (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Comfortable ride."

Thomas D., WA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The V6 has surprising acceleration capability getting on the freeway, ang changes lanes easily. The CVT transmission exceeded my expectations, easily adjusting the ratio to provide smooth acceleration without jumps in engine speed. Also adjusts downward easily and automatically keeping engine rpm smmooth and low. Does not act like a full size 3 row SUV. Also has driver select 4WD which Pilot and Highlander do not. Their AWD shifts between FWD and AWD as the vehicle determines best. Pathfinder has that as a driver selection along with FWD."

Anonymous, WA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"excellent acceleration, above average handling"

Anonymous, VA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Turns very easily with one finger."

Anonymous, NC (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Road noise is bad. Seats are NOT comfortable for long trips. Ride is not as smooth and cushy as I think it should be ( had a Buick Enclave that was outstanding)"

James L., TN (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"My husband is a little hard of hearing and we can easily carry on a conversation in this vehicle without me repeating myself or shouting"

M N., IL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The Pathfinder is very comfortable for long distance trips."

Barry H., AB (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Great SUV on long highway driving"

Anonymous, FL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Really comfortable seats with heating and cooling. Comfortable ride."

Joel S., IL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"very comfortable, stable ride, low noise"

Anonymous, VA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Comfortable seats with cooling as well as heating"

Joel S., IL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The truck has a smooth and responsive drive with excellent visibility. It handles well and gets better gas mileage than expected."

Karen G., FL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Seats are exceptionally comfortable"

MICHAEL G., NY (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"The most comfortable seating of all the vehicles I test drove and they remain comfortable."

TIMOTHY G., CA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"I would like the passenger seat to have the same options as the driver seat."

JOHN S., NY (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"This was a great purchase. Rides quiet and smooth, A/C is cold, nice and easy to control (triple zone). The Bose 13 speakers sound amazing. Bluetooth is great, can stream my iPhone music and phone calls are cyrstal clear. Voice recognition works great. But the best feature is the Rear Sonar with Around View Monitor. Makes parking and backing up a breeze. Alerts me of cars in my blind spots. What an amazing feature!"

FRANK R., NC (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Good mileage for this type vehicle. Toes 1500 lb boat well. Good winter traction. Good power"

Roger T., PA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"I felt that the Pathfinder had good value. It was very affordable and has everything that I needed in an SUV. The 4 wheel drive option is great in the winter, the styling is good, it has heated rear seats. This is the second one that I have purchased. We traded in our 2013 for a newer model in 2016."

Anonymous, ON (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Really reasonable price for the level of content. 4wd Platinum Edition"

Joel S., IL (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"Pathfinder SL Tech is highly reliable, very easy to drive, and park w 360 view cameras, and very safe w upgrades made for 2016 plus existing blind spot warning only available in highest price trim of other similar SUVs. Much, much better value than Pilot or Highlander."

Anonymous, WA (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)

"You get what you pay for"

Anonymous, AZ (2016 Nissan Pathfinder)
