The Ram 2500, more than other heavy-duty trucks, is very stiff when driven without a payload in the bed. Choosing this work truck over the regular 1500 lets you opt for the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel six-cylinder. It is noisy but pulls strongly. The six-speed automatic doesn't shift smoothly. Handling is clumsy, and the high step-in makes cabin access difficult.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Very quiet inside for a diesel. Very little road noise for a truck, even at high speeds. Good power and handling."

Anonymous, UT (2013 Ram 2500)

"Used for towing a 32' trailer, this truck handles and accelerates smoothly and responsively."

Anonymous, OR (2013 Ram 2500)

"The towing/hauling package is terrific. I pull a big 5th wheel and it allows me to connect to the 5th wheel brakes. It also has an easy mechanism that I use on the column that shifts the engine down when I need it."

Anonymous, MN (2013 Ram 2500)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Ride is very stiff, jarring. Road noise is very loud."

Anonymous, OR (2013 Ram 2500)

"It's a good basic work truck. Cabin interior is quiet and, acceleration is good. Ride is very choppy on rough roads unless it's carrying a heavy load. Seats are basic, but fairly comfortable."

Brian S., NC (2013 Ram 2500)

"Used for long road trips this is a very comfortable ride. Seats are comfortable, the cabin noise is very minimal."

Anonymous, OR (2013 Ram 2500)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"good veh so far could have been a bit cheaper"

TERRY T., MT (2013 Ram 2500)

"Reliability, for me, is the biggest factor when purchasing a vehicle. This truck has rattling windows that the dealer could not fix. The brake rotors warped at 8000 miles. Dodge only wanted to pay for half. I went aftermarket for rotors and brakes. The feed hose for the power steering burst. That was covered by the extended warranty. ($100 deductible) Two recalls, steering wheel air bag wiring harness and side airbag module for rollovers. I'm keeping the truck until its paid for (72 month loan)..."

Gregg L., MA (2013 Ram 2500)
