"The 2014 model seems slightly wider than any other year which makes it a challenge in parking lots and especially on ferries. However, the handling is amazing and its wide stance allows me to take corners faster than I will ever need to. Acceleration is satisfactory. I would not say this is necessarily a "peppy" vehicle, but there is plenty of power and acceleration for highway/freeway driving. I live in rural area with one main road, which is a 55 mph hwy. The 4Runner is able to pull out onto the highway safely and quickly, but it always seems to be straining as I accelerate."

"4runner is especially good off road but really sloppy on the road. On the road at higher speeds, the 4runner seems on the verge of becoming unstable. I'd not like to have to brake or steer hard at speed. At speed, breaking hard causes the front to dive severely and the truck feels like it might slide sideways at which point I think it might roll. Comfort, driving, handling, acceleration, etc is otherwise excellent. I love my 4runner."

"I absolutely love the big knobs for the climate control and radio functions. They make no look adjustments as easy to make as i can imagine. I also drive fleet vehicles 8 to 10k per year (Chevy, Ford, etc) and find the buttons for these functions very unpleasant and difficult to use at best. The big knobs got knocked badly in most reviews for the 4Runner as being stupid macho styling exercises, but they're one of the things I like best about the vehicle. "I bought my 4Runner to be used like a truck - hauling cargo and toys (boats and ATVs) and it does a great job. It’s a quiet ride, though it handles like a truck. The suspension is stiff, great for towing and off-roading. It’s a comfortable ride unless the road is washboard-y and then it jiggles me around. It’s responsive and handles well. The interior looks and feels more luxurious than other similar models. I picked this vehicle because it’s one of the few SUVs built on a truck frame, and it has an impressive reliability rating."

"Purchased it three months ago. Love the seats- especially the heating and cooling feature. The road noise isn't the same as a luxury model, but it is minimal. Ride is slightly rougher/bumpier than my wife would prefer, but we need to remember this is a body on chassis 4x4. I do wish the stock wheels weren't so large, but the rims are great. I think the large wheels and lower profile tires cause the ride to be rougher than necessary. The seats are extremely supportive and comfortable, second only to true luxury vehicle seats. Very satisfied with what I paid for."

"I have owned 33 vehicles in my lifetime (I am 65). The most trouble-free were Toyota. I have never had an unscheduled repair with this Toyota 4Runner in the nearly 119,000 miles I have owned it in 4 yrs. 4 months. All of my Toyota 4Runners have been trouble-free. I have owned 9. The last one, a 2007, I put 190,000 miles on before selling it to my closest friends: it only needed one repair, a starter, at 151,000 miles. I expect to get at least 300,000 miles out of this vehicle."
