What Owners Say
"The Corolla has a good balance of power and handling, with reasonably good acceleration while keeping up with traffic, entering freeways, etc. While not a sports car, it handles nicely on curvy roads, etc."
PETE M., WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Just to note that steering was (for me) unacceptable until steering computer was replaced, to make the electric assist feel more like a traditional hydraulic power steering (in 2010). Ok now, but still wanders a bit more than many other cars, but is definitely acceptable now."
K S., CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"My comfort level is pretty low with the acceleration of this car, especially when passing or merging."
Anonymous, NC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"We had cruise control installed, and that made a world of difference in driving on long trips. Otherwise this is a "Plain Jane" car - no electronic window adjustments, no inside rear view adjustment and no automatic door locking/unlocking.."
Anonymous, KS (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Our best example of the good of this is the following: We just returned from a 6,000 mile trip to 6 National parks in the West and Canada. In the Western states where the speed limit is 75mpg, we were able to cruise all day at about 82 mpg for days on end, up into higher altitudes and up and down as the terrain changed. Through Mt. Helens, Olympic, North Cascades, Glacier, and Banff National Parks our Corolla never faltered, and navigated the roads easily, which could have given problems. We"
DONALD B., IA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Steering is not good."
Anonymous, PA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"My son enjoys driving it since it has a manual transmission."
Anonymous, NC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It accelerates so well that I sometimes feel I'm in a sports-like car. The handling is very nimble. There is nothing "stiff" about the steering, accelerating, or braking."
GARY W., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Its very nice on the highway, low noise and drives like a larger car. Has large side mirrors for checking traffic. Also has a lot of trunk space."
Anonymous, ON (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The vehicle is economic it's reliable it's sufficient for my son's needs."
Anonymous, NJ (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Reliable! Good resale value."
DOTTIE W., WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Steering is very dangerous, braking system is not safe, the outside mirrors blocks your sight when turning and blind spots from most angles"
SHERRY H., WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handling misses the mark in that it behaves like a larger vehicle than it is."
JOSEPH L., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Rear visibility is poor and I have had two parking lot collisions at very low speeds which resulted in $2500 plus repairs costing me $500 deductible each time."
Anonymous, WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Does not handle well in snow"
LESLIE K., NY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"I like the handling and acceleration on this Corolla. The brakes are also very good."
Anonymous, IL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Not great pickup on highways or hills."
Anonymous, WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Excellent value for the money, reliability, and fuel economy. Good acceleration and handling but not as nimble or fun to drive as my 2005 Honda Civic. Leg room versus distance to reach steering wheel doesn't fit my body well - either too little leg room or a bit of a stretch to reach the wheel - but better than earlier Corollas."
GARY R., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The vehicle tends to wander a lot at highway speeds."
GERALD R., FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handles well"
Anonymous, KY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The engine revs too high. At 60 mph it revs around 4000 rpm. It doesn't feel and sound right. Something is fundamentally wrong with this design."
FOO L., CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Doesn't corner that well (body roll). It isn't very confident in lots of snow. Otherwise ok."
Anonymous, WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Too much road noise inside the car with A/C on and Windows closed. Have to turn radio way up to hear it well"
Anonymous, KY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Acceleration is great. Handling is quick and accurate"
Dale H., MN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handles well in winter conditions and good acceleration."
Marcy M., IN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Quick acceleration; smooth braking; crisp handling."
Gary W., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Well it's great on gas. I wouldn't say acceleration is its best feature but doable. Handlong is good but not so good on stopping short in an emergency. Car can't handle sudden stops well. But all and all its a good value."
Michael V., NY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Very Good"
Doris N., CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"There was a faulty chip which caused the car to stall unexpectedly at any speed. Apparently, the accelerator and brake were activated simultaneously. The problem was fixed and was covered by the certified used car warranty. But I was lucky not to have been involved in an accident."
Anonymous, OH (2010 Toyota Corolla)"seven years old ,drives and handles like new"
Mccorkle R., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The Corolla has good acceleration. It can merge well into traffic."
Anonymous, IL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The control with a manual transmission means more pick-up-and-go, and the ability to rock the vehicle in icy conditions."
Anonymous, QC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Everything is more than adequate and very predictable. During winter driving, the ESC (standard in 2010 -- thank you CR!) has occasionally kicked in and done exactly what it should. The entire driving experience lends a strong sense of confidence."
Anonymous, MN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"rough ride, bumpy"
Anonymous, MA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Manual transmission is both fun and efficient, depending on mood. Control makes driving more fun. Some days I want to spin tires, some days I want to see how far it will go on a tank of gas (@55l). I once got over 1000km!! That was fun. See what I mean?"
Gabor V., ON (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It's peppy and fun to drive."
David F., ME (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Acceleration is to jumpy. Hard to control jack rabbit starts."
Anonymous, TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Noise and vibration when accelerating is slightly annoying. It seems to be coming from the transmission."
Matt Y., ID (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Excellent turn radius. Will turn on a "dime and give nine cents change"!! The 1.8 liter engine has plenty of power for its size! Excellent driving car!"
Anonymous, GA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Acceleration of this car is barely adequate, leisurely at best."
John C., AZ (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Everything is good"
Anonymous, FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"They're perfectly adequate"
Chilton R., CT (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Plenty of power. Responsive handling."
C C., TN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handling is just fine. It is great around town and in the city because it is small. It is comfortable and stable at high speeds. It does everything adequately and predictably. You cannot be afraid to floor the gas pedal when you need to accelerate hard."
Anonymous, PA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Still responsive in handling. Excellent control in skid through computer interaction."
Anonymous, OK (2010 Toyota Corolla)"No problems whatsoever with driving, acceleration and handling."
Anonymous, MA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It reacts quickly"
Melinda S., KY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It takes corners really well and I am confident about making a U-turn when necessary. It also accelerates well when entering a freeway. it is just easy to drive and has a good road "feel.""
Anonymous, TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It responds nicely when you accelerate. The most awesome thing is in the past 6 years I have only had to buy a set of tires, & lube and oil changes, and a set of brakes. It is the best car I have EVER bought, I love it!!"
Susan D., FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"always reliable. good response and handling"
Samuel F., NJ (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Excellent acceleration and handling."
Anonymous, NV (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Good acceleration"
Anonymous, WA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The Corolla is not a fast car, but it is very maneuverable and fun to drive. I am very impressed by the 35 mpg I get on the highway."
Anonymous, AZ (2010 Toyota Corolla)"There is enough power for me and handles fine"
Barry C., NS (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It's okay. Not great but not bad."
Teresa G., FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It is not yet an old (less than 45000 mi.) car but still it is capable of accelerate and maneuver in bad traffic like it did when new."
Eduardo E., FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"great turning radius"
Lee M., NY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Although the Corolla is at least 8 years old there are no apparent mechanical problems and the car drives almost like new."
Mccorkle R., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Need more horse power."
Jan B., CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"This car is built to be reliable economic transportation. It is a total success for the purpose for which it was designed. If you want better acceleration or advanced handling capability, you will need to spend more money and get something else."
Tim R., UT (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Smooth acceleration and very comfortable for turns and lane changes. Excellent cruise control."
Anonymous, GA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The manual transmission has and excellent response"
Anonymous, FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The engine is inclined to stall when starting out in first gear from a dead stop, and the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge the problem, consequently they won't attempt to correct the problem. According to the repair shop at the dealership where i bought the car my problem is a common complaint. Between you and me if you were to ask them about it I'm sure they wouldn't admit it."
Conran B., BC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"it drives great"
Andrew S., MN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The handling is excellent when going around curves and feeling safe on the road in all weather; however, the acceleration is too sensitive. It is almost impossible to keep from "goosing" the accelerator even when trying to very gradually accelerate."
Paula C., MO (2010 Toyota Corolla)"4 cyl motor has enough power for pa hills."
Dennis T., PA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"For a small car with a small engine it handles and accelerates very well."
Peter F., NC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Peppy, hugs the road"
A S., ON (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The car has good acceleration and handling for an economy car."
John C., NC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"I enjoyed the acceraltion and braking capabilities of the is Brakes were sharp and acceraleration was very good."
Anonymous, IL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The in-city acceleration is great. Lots of pep accelerating after stop lights or stop signs. Also for lane changes, good acceleration."
Teresa P., MI (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It may be 4 cylinder, but it has good pick up speed once you get going and a smooth ride."
Anonymous, CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)"When accelerating (usually) from full stop, the car literally jumps when shifting in low gears when my foot is too high on pedal. Other times I can feel the car shifting gears (in low gears) when I accelerate."
Esther M., IL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handles and maneuvers easily with little effort. I don't have an opinion about the acceleration as the car as always accelerated when necessary."
Roberta L., FL (2010 Toyota Corolla)"very poor acceleration"
J B., NY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"It doesn’t accelerate as quickly as I would expect for an S model which implies it’s a sports model....which would imply it might go fast. Fast is not this car. And it seems like there is something making the rpm’s stall momentarily during accelerating. The steering is too touchy as well. If your not super careful you might run off the road when looking at a road to the the side."
Anonymous, AK (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Handling is good. Acceleration is average for such a car but need to allow enough room to get up to speed. Wish it had a little more if a tight situation occurs. Turning off AC in summer helps to gain some speed. I have done this on occasion. Braking decent."
Anonymous, SC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Reliability and fuel efficiency."
Anonymous, NY (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Acceleration is very good. Handling, comfort and noise are all quite good. The 2010 Corolla is still tight and exudes confidence and a sense of reliability."
Wm F., MN (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Strong acceleration, good handling."
John A., NC (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Sluggish acceleration and steering radius is too awkward."
Anonymous, TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)"Smart acceleration and tight handling. It's a very sweet ride for the money."
Gary U., ND (2010 Toyota Corolla)"The acceleration and breaking make diving in traffic or long distances a pleasure. Its sure steering/response is outstanding. Just within the past week I had to swerve into an oncoming traffic lane to avoid hitting a dog and then swerve back to avoid oncoming cars - all with cruise control set at 65 MPH ."
Rick S., TX (2010 Toyota Corolla)
"Acceleration is under all criticism! Not powerful enough for mountain driving or passing cars."
JAN B., CA (2010 Toyota Corolla)
