What Owners Say
"Unable to see anything behind the car due to screen size a nd video quality. Screen remains blank for 5 to 10 seconds as the car is backing up which is extremely hazardous. Anything or a child could be behind the car !!"
Anonymous, CO (2010 Toyota Highlander Limited 3.5-L V6)"All the things that I clicked were related to ONE issue. They all went out at one time when the battery failed. AAA replaced the battery but these items were permanently affected. After about 3 weeks, all of a sudden the whole system booted up again. This after a trip to the dealer where repair/replacement would have been $2300, which we declined to do. My husband went to Best Buy to see if there was after market repair available and the answer was no. We were surprised and happy to discover it"

The maps it uses seem to be from around 2004 (based on the existence or closure of streets) even though the car was purchased in 2010. The severe limitations of the display where it cannot display detail just compounds the issues."
B B., CT (2010 Toyota Highlander Limited 3.5-L V6)"GPS System stopped working. Dealer ordered & pre-charged software disc, which was backordered. Finally opted to have aftermarket unit installed. The display goes "crazy" and looks like a row of triangles not showing the stations. The player will randomly eject the cd"
Anonymous, FL (2010 Toyota Highlander Base 3.5-L V6)"There seems to be an electrical short with the radio. Sometimes it won’t turn on, sometimes it turns on and we can’t adjust the volume or the station. There are numerous times where the display is jibberish or so light that we can’t read the information for the volume or station letters. This is the second radio since the first one was just as bad but was still in the warranty period so it was replaced for nothing. Toyota wants to charge us over $500 for a new one. We plan on getting rid of the car shortly so we can live with the annoyances for the next few months."
