What Owners Say
"When we accelerate to pass another car ir pulls to the left. Has done it ever since we bought the car."
Anonymous, GA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Oversteer/Low road feel makes for tiring drive. Almost dangerous under heavy acceleration with any turning maneuver-e.g., accelerating to change lanes or pass."
Anonymous, CA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Overall the acceleration and handling are very good. However, it can be difficult to park and has a wide turning radius."
Anonymous, VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Satisfaction is HIGH. Handles well on crowded freeway driving. Excellent sudden acceleration response when needed ! Interior is comfortable and quiet. ."
CHERIE W., UT (2011 Toyota Highlander)"My wife likes the comfort of the Highlander"
T B., MD (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Good handling acceleration etc and still maintains decent mpg."
DEWITT G., CA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"It drove much better after we replaced the tires"
Anonymous, FL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"I find that I have to maintain constant steering wheel control, & road concentration or the vehicle will start to wander, It could be the tires the dealer put on the vehicle. I use better grade tires. Acceleration & braking are outstanding."
Anonymous, LA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Comfort"
JOHN S., NJ (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Even with air conditioning on, the car accelerates quickly and smoothly. Handling on the highway is fantastic, at any speed."
Anonymous, VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"FWD is difficult to gauge at times, especially in rainy conditions; traction slips when accelerating from a stop. Highway ride is smooth and seamless, easy to control."
F H., VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"We use the Highlander for family trips and it is very comfortable and has plenty of room for us and all our gear."
Anonymous, MD (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Very strong V6 engine, rides great."
ANTHONY B., NY (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Low ground clearance. It's still an average within the crossover class, but can't compete with off-road vehicle. Would love to see 9-10" of ground clearance, so vehicle can be used for deep outdoors camping trips. Also would like to have standard transfer case like light trucks have to have better ability of towing and lunching the boat."
Anonymous, ON (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The full time 4WD does very well in snow. It drives well, but the ride is on the stiffer side."
Steve R., CA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"It is very powerful for a v6 and handles well on the road."
Paul M., MO (2011 Toyota Highlander)"very nice driving dynamics even with 129K miles on it. One of the best rides I've ever owned"
Anonymous, WV (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The steering is too soft in the highway. Too much movement when driving in a curvy road"
Anonymous, PR (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The front end of the Highlander isn't stable and has to be realigned approximately every 3000 miles. If not the front end creeks that is felt in the steering wheel. Dealers say everything is normal."
Anonymous, FL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Very adequate, no deficiencies noted."
Allen G., NE (2011 Toyota Highlander)"good drive"
Thomas D., TN (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Strong power and very responsive, while still maintaining good mileage."
Jackie M., TX (2011 Toyota Highlander)"With 270 horsepower it accelerates very well. But it is a Toyota and it doesn't handle yes well. It's competent but you don't want to push it too much around curves."
Douglas Y., CT (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Have the towing option which gives the car very quick acceleration in traffic."
Michael S., TX (2011 Toyota Highlander)"great value little up keep"
Anonymous, FL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The FWD V6 does not handle well when accelerating uphill. It feels like you do not have total control. We previously owned a 4WD Highlander and I regret not getting 4WD for our 2011 model."
Kevin P., GA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Very good at acceleration and handles very well, esp when needing to avoid unexpected items in road."
Anonymous, MS (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration is very good, handle great for a vehicle of this size."
Anonymous, WV (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The usual for a CVT, it drones on when pushed. In the corners on curvy roads, it wallows like a whale, never wanting to be pushed. The vehicle not meant for curves but does nicely on the straight and slightly curved backroads."
Paul C., CA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"When passing on country two-lane roads good acceleration is a must have and this vehicle has more than enough. With all wheel drive this vehicle makes it up my very steep driveway without difficulty in the snow. I never hesitate to drive the ten miles to town even when the roads have not been plowed--my Highlander will get me there and back home again without difficulty."
Roseann T., ID (2011 Toyota Highlander)"No complaints"
Anonymous, VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"its very reliable. When I wish to travel considerable distances, I do without hesitation. acceleration is very good and handles very responsively."

Anonymous, FL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Not powerful enough for towing."
Anonymous, GA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Acceleration and breaking is good except in wet weather. Does not handle well on wet roads. This is the reason I will not buy another one."
Anonymous, TX (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Handling is very good and acceleration is good."
Anonymous, IL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"It i very responsive; quick acceleration and steering, even as an ‘older’ car. There has not been any noticble decline in these areas."
Anonymous, VT (2011 Toyota Highlander)"I don't usually push it. However, when I need power, it is always there."
Anonymous, MI (2011 Toyota Highlander)"This car is a rock. It drives as good today as the day I purchased it. I have driven it on may long trips. Very good vehicle. The ease of entering and exiting the vehicle is great for my mother who has mobility issues. The seat height is just right for her getting in and out of the car."
Anonymous, VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Bought the 6 cylinder model - plenty of acceleration when you need it yet still has decent gas mileage - handles and rides very smooth."
Ken K., IL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Wish it got better gas mileage but not too bad for what it is"
Scott G., AK (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Drives very well, comfortable for four adults and two young children. Fuel economy acceptable. Silver paint after 7 years as "good as new." No corrosion found."
Linda C., FL (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The hybrid means it is slow to accelerate at first then if you keep on the gas it "grabs and goes" pulling hard on the front tires. This is not helpful in traffic- a smoother acceleration that kicks in earlier would be better."
Anonymous, HI (2011 Toyota Highlander)"It responds as necessary."
Anonymous, NJ (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Fantastic acceleration to get me out of trouble when merging or avoiding others. Very smooth handling - like a car not a truck"

Anonymous, IN (2011 Toyota Highlander)"it responds very well"
Anonymous, TN (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The vehicle accelerates smoothly and responsively when entering freeways or when entering traffic from driveway to public road. I live in area with winter snow falls, have been able to drive safely thru accumulations of up to 12 inches, on both dirt and paved roads."
Anonymous, WA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"I have never felt unsafe in my Highlander – – the pick up is excellent and the drive is very comfortable. I find that handles well on both the open highway as well as in the city."
Janice I., VA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Highlander drives great. It feels solid and very predictable. 2011 model still has mechanical AWD and this gives you control over the road in any weather condition unlike competitors electronic AWD which are useless as they switch on/off erratically and overheat/fail after some use. Highlander system can run full day in any road or weather condition which gives you an ability to come to your destination in time. It also handles corners with minimal lean and in very predictable manner. This is an easy to drive vehicle with comfort for full family."
Anonymous, ON (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Smooth ride. Could corner better. Very good to drive on highways."
Anonymous, NJ (2011 Toyota Highlander)"more power than expected, handling is very good"

Gary W., CA (2011 Toyota Highlander)"This auto is very quick. The acceleration is excellent."
Raymond P., NV (2011 Toyota Highlander)"The Highlander handles well in driving situations. My wife doesn't demand great acceleration just that it be reliable. She has no complaints about about handling although she frequently mentions she would like to have her earlier Honda Odyssey back. We might get another one soon but for reasons on related to acceleration or handling."
R G., TX (2011 Toyota Highlander)"Very good acceleration when needed. Comfortable ride and very good handling"
John C., PA (2011 Toyota Highlander)
"Handles like a cat, nimble in traffic and easy to park."
DOUG R., NY (2011 Toyota Highlander)
