The RAV4 is quite competitive in its class with either the standard four-cylinder or the optional V6 engine. Improvements to the four-cylinder engine for this version of the compact Toyota SUV reduced noise. An available third-row seat and powerful V6 make it a good alternative to some midsized SUVs. The RAV4 is agile and roomy, rides comfortably and has a smooth drivetrain and a flexible interior.

What Owners Say

"Acceleration and cargo space."

Anonymous, IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"smooth on the highway; great acceleration when needed to pass; handles very well"

Anonymous, ME (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"RAV has quick response and acceleration"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Accelerates quickly and easily when it is needed. Very responsive to turning and easy to park."

LONG E., ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The shifting from third to fourth gear (automatic) is sluggish, which I've never liked. Other than that, it handles well. But I drive a lot of highway miles and getting on the highway this is a significant drag, pun intended."

Anonymous, NJ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"the brake and accelerator interfere with each other and can cause accidents at low speeds"

Anonymous, SK (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I'm overall very satisfy with this vehicle acceleration and handling,"

HARRY D., FL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Ride is stiff and not comfortable."

Anonymous, WI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"This model is a six cylinder, which Toyota is no longer making in the Rav. It helps on the road for passing slower vehicles, especially on hills."

Anonymous, AZ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The 270hp v6 provides dynamite acceleration and great handling while getting ~28-29mph highway and 22-25 local."

RICHARD B., NC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The V6 engine is a dream. Why Toyota got rid of it on this model is incomprehensible. 100 more horespower over the 4 cylinder with only a 1 mpg hit is a terrific tradeoff."

KEVIN A., IA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Accelerates very rapidly, which is important for passing on two lane highways and for getting through traffic on busy freeways."

DAVID M., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Love the acceleration, although there can be a split second delay."

Anonymous, WI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"small 4 cylinder does not provide quick acceleration"

Anonymous, VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I have a RAV4 with the v6 Toyota no longer makes anything to compare."

Anonymous, VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great acceleration, handles like a sports car. Have driven across the country twice; loved every minute of it."

ROBERT C., NC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"It has plenty of zoom to get on the freeway or get out of the way if I have to. It's very easy to steer. Of course, I pay for that in gas mileage and would rather have an electric or hybrid even if I had to do without the speedy acceleration. The best choice would be a Tesla, but outside my price range!"

LINDA E., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The small V4 chugs up hills."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Fun to drive, great pick-up"

Anonymous, MB (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"lots of power, cargo capacity, fold down rear seat. (good) noise (bad)"

J M., WA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"This model of RAV4 with the V6 engine, drives and accelerates like a sports car. Really wish Toyota would've kept making this engine in the new RAV4."

MICHAEL M., VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"There has been an obvious hesitation the last few years, but the dealership service area keeps telling me it's the a/c or the engine not "strong enough" for the a/c or (now) "there is a 'known' issue with RAV engines" instead of just trying to fix it since THEY can't seem to replicate it when THEY drive it. I suggested it might need a tune-up. I had put "gumout" in recently and it seemed to work a bit better."

Anonymous, TX (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great in snow with the proper tires. Handles very well."

JOAN A., NH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"it is really zippy around town and very easy to drive and maneuver on the city streets. Because of the short wheel base it is a bit choppy on the highway."

L W., NE (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"V-6 provides wonderful acceleration. Too bad they no longer offer this option."

MYRON S., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Often hesitates to accelerate, pedal must be floored to force a downshift. Not sure if it's a throttle or transmission issue."

Anonymous, NB (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I wouldn't have bought the car without the 6cyl. It makes the car extremely peppy and great to drive."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Very good acceleration, great in snow."

RICHARD H., VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"My model has the V6 option. Acceleration is excellent. The only thing I do not like is that the transmission sometimes hesitates before downshifting. This is most noticeable when I slow down and then try immediately to accelerate."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Stops beautifully- and handles smoothly"

Anonymous, FL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"6 cylinder engine very peppy and responsive. Never pauses when I step on the gas."

TERESIA C., FL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Very nice ride. Since I only put very miles on it, I have nothing bad to add, & hope never."

Anonymous, IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I have driven cars (US made and foreign) for over 50 years, this is the most pleasant and problem-free car I have had. The tires my RAV4 came with only lasted some 35000 miles, but I switched to Michelin (upon CU recommendation), and those have lasted for 65000 miles. RAV4 is a terrific vehicle, so useful in all my ventures and needs."

WALTHER S., NV (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great has it when you need it to pass another car."

Anonymous, MI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great acceleration for a small SUV. Cornering and parking are very good."

Anonymous, MI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"acceleration during highway driving. Never have to worry when passing on a two lane highway"

Anonymous, BC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Hesitating, feels almost like stalling after slowing down from higher speeds and then trying accelerate,i think tranny jumps back 2 gears which makes car to lurk ahead."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I have the V6 in my RAV4 and it is very fast. When passing I never have to floor it to get around anyone, I just tap the gas pedal and it's go. I love it."

WILLIAM M., GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Ride and handling still very much better than the sum of its parts."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

ROBERT K., AZ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Comfortable & low upkeep. We seldom go east so it has low mileage & low upkeep."

WILLIAM M., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Excellent acceleration. Not very stable on curves."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"When the engine is cold going up a hill, it pauses, slows acceleration, then suddenly takes off. Handling is average."

Anonymous, OR (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great acceleration but at the sacrifice of fuel economy in the city"

"good power, tow package of 3500 lbs"

THOMAS R., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Corners well for SUV, but took several trips to stealership for them to correctly repair the rear trailing arm that was replaced as recall item. RAV was very wobbly in cornering (apex to exit) until this gross mistake was corrected."

Anonymous, MD (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I love the acceleration of the V6 engine and the nimble handling."

JAMES T., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Excellent engine and handling."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Really appreciate the V6 engine. This has been a great choice, both for passing on rural roads, and to provide nimbleness and maneuverability to get out of difficult situations on urban expressways."

"The acceleration uphill during rush hour is inadequate. The car weighs nearly 5000 pounds and the engine produces 166 horsepower (when new) Merging onto high speed traffic can be a serious problem."

Anonymous, CT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Acceleration is very good, my vehicle is equipped with a V6 engine."

MEL S., GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

LARRY C., KS (2007 Toyota RAV4)

MIKE A., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Good gas mileage, great handling and acceleration. Seating is firm but comfortable for short and long distance."

Glenn H., ID (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Outstanding acceleration with the V-6. It's a pity Toyota no longer offers it in the RAV-4."

Mike A., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"6 cylinder and big tires help in both areas."

Don-Terry B., NY (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Fastest SUV I have ever driven, but loud."

J M., OR (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"great acceleration, rides nice, fun to drive"

Anonymous, WI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great"

David R., NE (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"RAV4 has 4-cyl. Poor acceleration and when on highway with A/C running going up an incline, the transmission will start to shift back and forth every 3 seconds so RPM goes from 2800 to 4200 travelling at ~75 mph. Wish I had gotten the V6."

Anonymous, GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Good"

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Love to drive my Rav4, quick response, quiet ride, spacious. Leather and heated seats are awesome. It's my second Rav4,. If I buy another one, I'll miss the spare tire being on the rear door. liked the storage compartment that is gone from the new models"

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Still wish they made a V6 in the RAV4 model line. The acceleration and tourque to weight ratio make this SUV so fun to drive even after 10 years."

Michael M., VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"excessive road noise"

Darrell F., OR (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Very touchy gas pedal. Accelerates very sensitive and jumpy."

Catherine D., NY (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I have the V6 engine. The acceleration and handling are great."

John L., SC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Drives and handles well, feels solid on the road and the awd makes it a great car for my daughter during the winter"

Robert K., MI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"V6 version of this vehicle is fun to drive. It has a strong acceleration which makes it fun to drive and is there when you want the bit of extra boost. Shocks across front and back have a nice feel to them too."

Robert S., NJ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Our 2007 V6 Rav 4 has more acceleration than any car I have owned in my fifty years of car ownership. It turns quickly and parks easily. Stops fast and short. Other than a slight transmission whine from 40 - 45 mph, it is a quiet ride. It is a smooth enough ride for us but far from the smoothness of a Mercedes E350; the short wheelbase makes it a little jumpy."

J S., SC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I love the height of the car and it's acceleration. It is very handy for all type of trips. I wish it got better gas mileage but otherwise a fantastic vehicle."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The fact that I got the engine rebuilt for free because of a recall. The engine was consuming too mush oil. The fact that the consumption of oil was part of the engine design in the first place was disconcerting, but Toyota made it good."

Thomas G., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Easy control of vehicle.. starting, stopping, etc."

Richard K., TX (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great for passing on back country roads"

Anonymous, PA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The V6 engine provides very good acceleration. The RAV4 has a more comfortable ride compared to the BMW; but it doesn't handle as well."

Lloyd H., NV (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"For an older car, this Toyota gets the job done. We're going to buy a new one with all the toys."

William M., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The v6 RAV4's acceleration lets me merge onto highways without fear of being overrun."

John F., CT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"This is a great around town car. Quick acceleration and very responsive handling. really like the higher seating position the Rav provides as can see further ahead what is going on in the upfront traffic-a good safety mark."

Anonymous, NE (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Almost sports car handling from steering wheel, brakes and acceleration. Very pleased."

Douglas K., ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Acceleration is very touchy and abrupt. Otherwise, easy to control."

Richard S., WI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Acceleration is very adequate. Handles relatively well. I am very satisfied with the car"

Anonymous, RI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Powerful, exhilarating acceleration... Well worth it.... Newer Rav4 are just SoccerMom raised sedan without any punchy engine."

Dany G., QC (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Very powerful acceleration with the V6. Wish the AWD system was more 4 wheel biased instead of front wheel biased to avoid torque steer. Also wish more recent models were still available with the V6."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

Anonymous, GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"We love to drive the RAV-4. It has excellent acceleration and handles well all driving situations."

Anonymous, IN (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I have a 6 cylinder engine in this vehicle. The acceleration is terrific and the mileage is great for this type of vehicle. It handles very securely on most all road surfaces I drive on."

Mark B., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The V-6 is still very powerful!"

Marianne P., MI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The V6 is very responsive and will accelerate very fast. With 200,000 plus miles on the vehicle it is still our gobto car."

Anonymous, MT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Great acceleration and handling with a V-6. Also easy to park."

Alan H., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Acceleration is exemplary when needed. It is easy to handle and manoeuvre and to park. It is the easiest to handle vehicle that I have ever owned. I love it and do not want to part with it, so I will keep it as long as it functions okay."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

Anonymous, IN (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"the accelerator is touchy you have to watch out cause the car will move quickly."

Whitney S., NV (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The 3.5l V6 has more punch than just about any automatic transmission car I've ever driven. Response is immediate, without the lag you feel in most cars. Small turning radius for a vehicle this size. Great braking too. A very safe car to drive."

James N., VA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"This is a 2007 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive RAV 4 Limited. I like the power of the 6cylinder. The new models do not offer the 6 cylinder. The new models have the same power or more with the newer CVT transmissions but they are slower to react in adverse driving conditions. 6 cylinders, press the pedal and it reacts. The lack of availability of 6 cylinders in the RAV 4 will effect my buying decision with my next car. Toyota's are a solid car, but because of EPA they eliminated the 6 cylinder and they probably lost me as a customer."

Anonymous, OH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"We have the v6 version of the rav4. The acceleration and handling of this car are kick-a**. It makes it sad to drive my other car."

Thomas G., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"High mileage and still accelerates and handles as well as it did the day I bought it."

Kurt M., MO (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"My 2007 Rav4 has a V6 engine with towing package. It is an excellent tow vehicle and also excellent for driving in heavy traffic because of its pickup, precise handling, and excellent brakes. I am very, very disappointed that the V6 engine is no longer an option on new Rav4 vehicles. I will purchase a different replacement vehicle unless the V6 option is restored."

"After 160000+ miles, replaced front struts and right front wheel bearing... After doing so, rides and handles like out of the showroom..."

Pasquale Z., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Easy handling and maneuvering, has plenty of zip when accelerating. It has good visibility all around. It is too noisy, especially in middle row. Noise level I would give a low score:3."

Joanne M., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"V-6 is very responsive and smooth. Handling is excellent."

Alan H., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

Douglas S., AB (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"An . old car that still accelerates very well. I can always merge easily in traffic."

Anonymous, MA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Our model has the 3.5 liter V6 engine. Even at 202,000 miles, it runs well, leaks no oil, and accelerates very nicely. Ours is the Sport model with larger wheels and lower profile tires. It still handles very well, despite the high mileage."

Paul D., AZ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"My V6 engine has excellent acceleration and the vehicle handles very well. The RAV4 towed a small tent trailer and it did all of these things while still getting very good gas mileage."

Robert C., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Good acceleration for 4cyl engine, ride is stiff but still reasonably comfortable ride. Plenty of power for routine passing and merging."

Anonymous, MD (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"it is a Sport model and lives up to its name in all handling situations. Ice, snow, rain, hot, cold all are handled well if not exceptionally well with this car. The torqie 6 cylinder engine is exceptional."

"After 215,000 miles still far as a bullet. Good handling. Tends to lunch accelerating from a standing start ie traffic light."

Anonymous, CT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Acceleration is good with the V6 engine except on very light throttle, then it feels like a very underpowered 4 cyl. When I give it more gas it will jerk and really move. The transition between light throttle and moderate throttle is abrupt and annoying. It feels like a turbocharger kicking in although the engine is normally aspirated."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"This car, even though it only has 60,000 miles, definitely feels outdated. The NVH levels are pretty high."

S S., NJ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Seats are very comfortable & roomy. Good leg room, great ac. Car is noisy."

JOAN A., NH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Electric seat moves ridiculously slow. Sea angle does not adjust enough for a short driver, making longer drives less comfortable."

Anonymous, IN (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The ride is somewhat choppy, but this is probably due to the truck like suspension and short wheelbase."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I like the comfort"

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"can not adjust seats to my liking with the 'manual' controls. Needs power seats."

LARRY W., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Cabin noise makes it difficult to hear radio and audio systems. Not much sound proofing for hood and its design allows local rodents to store acorns in it with no good way to remove them."

Anonymous, OR (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The base model of RAV is noisy and the ride is stiff. The seats don't provide much leg support to a tall person because the seat pitch seems too short."

Anonymous, GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Whine of engine noise especially when accelerating."

CONNIE B., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The seats are hard, not good lumbar support, limited adjustments. The car is noisy and rough, though that isn't as much an issue since it does have 170,000 miles on it. Pretty basic comfort."

Anonymous, OR (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Noisy ride, cheap seats,"

GEORGE G., KS (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"stiff ride, road noise"

Anonymous, IA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Too much road noise."

GARRY J., IN (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Vehicle seats are comfortable but as I am over 6 feet tall I find extended time driving results in my old knees locking up and becoming very painful. I am unable to straighten out my legs to relieve the cramps. The short wheel base, on our gravel roads, make for a rougher ride."

Anonymous, ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Seats leave me with a sore back on trips longer than 1 hour"

BRIAN N., ON (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Seats are extremely comfortable."

Anonymous, MI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Increasingly noisy ride with increasing speed."

JEFFREY K., UT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The RAV is fairly uncomfortable for long haul trips as the seats are just too hard. Four hours of driving time is about our maximum in this car. Otherwise it is reliably boring with a good sound system. As it's aged it's become a lot noisier with rattles around the sun roof we can't seem to contain. These two factors will lead us away from replacement with the same car. The reliability is a plus."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"High seats for getting in and out."

EILEEN P., NY (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"I like the simple A/C controls, it has a comfortable ride, a very roomy cabin and sometimes a squeaky interior."

CARLOS G., TX (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Lots of road noise"

DAVID C., UT (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The leg room is an issue for me. I am 6'1" and my right leg is right next to the floor consule and the pedal is not at a good angle for driving. Uncomfortable to drive for more than 10 minutes."

Anonymous, NJ (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Road and wind noises are somewhat high, even with the roof rack struts adjusted to the factory suggested positions, advertised to minimize wind noise."

MICHAEL W., AL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Driver seat should adjust back further. Seats cushions are too short for longer legs. No height adjustment for passenger seat."

WERNER S., AB (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"This vehicle is very noisy, most notably the engine. The 2.4L 4 cylinder engine has gotten noisier over time, and it has always struggled to keep up at high speeds, especially when trying to pass on the highway. This same engine feels much more powerful in a car like the Camry. I wish I had paid more for the V6."

WILLIAM R., TN (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"All is great except the road noise. It's not quiet at all when driving. That's the one complaint I have."

DIANE S., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Heated leather seats are very comfortable. Driver's seat has lumbar support adjustment also. Noise is acceptable for a vehicle at this price point."

LEON R., OH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Relatively low mileage, but struts have stiffened. Very hard ride now."

BRUCE L., GA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Front seats are very uncomfortable with little thigh support. Not good for long drives."

CHARLES S., FL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The seats are awful. I love everything else about my car but the headrests are tinted forward like they expect everyone to drive reclined. The lumbar support is also lacking."

Anonymous, NE (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Drivers seat is all power operated, and the forward/back travel is very restricted. I have always felt too close to the wheel, even in the farthest back position."

RICHARD S., WI (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The ride is noisie and dealer service is not reliable"

VINCENT M., CA (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Could be quieter inside. Wish the drivers seat would go back another one or two inches."

TERRY P., OH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"The front seats lack enough support to be comfortable on long drives. The climate control has never been effective at delivering fresh air, with the temperature of the incoming air being warner than the air outside. Thus, on a 70 degree day, the A/C is on. In addition, there is no way to slow the air flow from an interior vent. It is either on or off."

And, while you didn't ask about this: my RAV4 had the engine rebuilt due to excessive oil consumption. As a result, my mileage dropped by a few MPGs. Toyota was HORRIBLE-- I burned a quart of oil every 1,000 miles; I got the low oil light after driving 3,000 miles. And it still wasn't enough for Toyota. "The rear mounted spare and side hinged door are an issue when parked in tight spaces. I also don't like the right side hinge placement. Obviously Toyota did not design this for the American market. Also, the front seats are uncomfortable for long distance driving, and the leather on the driver's side seat is cracking significantly. Acceleration is AWESOME on this vehicle with the V6 engine. It has gotten me out of a few tight places on the highway. I'll never go back to an under-powered car."

MIKE A., IL (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"Much prefer the styling of the 2007 RAV4 to that of the 2016 model. The front end of the 2016 model looks like it is frowning or scowling. The 2007 model just looks like a vehicle."

PAUL K., OH (2007 Toyota RAV4)

"like the way it looks"
