Display screen goes blank

"About 2 years after I purchased the vehicle, I started having issues with the screen for my satellite radio/CDplayer unit. It would be unreadable. Now, in the last year, it will go blank. It's a problem that comes and goes. Also, at times, I will press a saved station button, and the CD player will come on. There seems to be some sort of short in the satellite radio system. It's annoying at the time, but nothing I would pay money to get fixed, since the radio will still work, it just doesn't display."

Steering wheel vibration

"made noise, swayed while driving, uneven tire wear. Important to note that I originally took my RAV4 to the Toyota dealer where it was purchased. They insisted there was, no problem other than bad tires. The problem persisted. I took the auto to a private mechanic and the problems were discovered and rectified. The moral of the story; avoid mechanics who refuse to LISTEN to your complaints or practice the art of satisfying the expectations of the company, not the customer."

Edwin K., FL (2011 Toyota RAV4 Limited 3.5-L V6)

"Wheel bearings are supposed to last a lifetime. My front driver side wheel bearing and hub assembly had to be replaced because it was causing a cyclical sound when driving and dealership mentioned that it was failing. The good thing is that replacing the part fixed the noise issue and the vehicle drives better. Since then, I have had another issue with - once in a while - vibrations from the driver side of the car. Not sure if wheel bearings or some other component. Took to dealership and they mentioned it is because of ice trapped. That looks like the culprit but I would know for sure only after driving the car through this summer. In any case, it is unsettling to know that a car you purchased because of its apparent reliability ratings has started to show problems at just 7 years of its life."

"Sensor near the gas tank had to be replaced because fuel somehow spilled on it"

Arthur T., VA (2011 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Combination of dashboard idiot lights came on. Code-reader said it was O2 sensor. Note that Toyota design stupidly turns off AWD when an exhaust O2 sensor fails, turning an emissions problem into a safety issue. Toyota replaced the sensor (not under warranty). Problem recurred within a week. Toyota replaced it again for free and it has not been a problem since."
