Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Acceleration is very good for a car this large. Handling is good but could be a bit tighter."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Acceleration from a stopped position is sluggish but it handles great. It has a much tighter turning radius than my old 2004 Chrysler Town and Country Limited."

S W., NC (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Handling is great. Acceleration a little sluggish"

Anonymous, VA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Seat comfort: Good, ride: not good"

Anonymous, GA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"THE VAN HAS A GREAT TURNING RADIUS, RIDE IS SMOOTH AND QUIET. CONTROLS ARE EASY TO GET TOO."

Anonymous, PA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"the new 8 speed transmission has trouble deciding which gear it wants to be in when starting out or climbing a grade"

Anonymous, PA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Plenty of pep when getting onto freeway or when passing. Slightly firm suspension helps with staying in lane."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The transmission shifts are abrupt. It's constantly down shifting when I accelerate. My 2004 Sienna shifted much smoother and quieter. I feel this vehicle is underpowered. The one positive is that the turning radius good for this size vehicle."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Compare to my 2005 Odyssey, the 2018 Sienna is slow: overdrive always on. To turn it off and access to all the horse power, you have to go into the menus and navigate; no direct button. Steering is light. Short autonomy of 500km. Lane assist is scary (almost or cross the line before steering). The only reason to buy is for the AWD and reliability. Would have recommended if it also had hybrid/plugin like the Pacifica and better offset crash test."

Vinh T., QC (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The 8 speed transmission is hesitant at low speeds and jumpy"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Acceleration - i was in a traffic situation that need instant acceleration and it failed to do so. i discovered a paragraph in the 500 page book that talked about instant power setting. Its called ECT Power (What ETC means i couldn't find) ECT is not in the index so i couldn't find out more about this setting. Also i ask several workers at the Dealer about"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"road noise, a bit slow on initial acceleration"

Gary K., NY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"This is a great people mover, not a sports car. I like that I can move a large number of people (6-8) and we can all socialize in comfort. It drives like a typical large vehicle. Acceleration and handling are both good for a vehicle this size."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Plenty of power and very acceptable handling."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Transmission poor when driving under 20 mph. Tends to be unresponsive to pressing on gas pedal, then jumps forward rather than smoothly accelerating like it does at faster speeds."

Anonymous, MA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"8 speed transmission slow to respond"

Anonymous, NE (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"When slowing down such as to make a turn, or for a red light that then turns green, the car slows, but when you try to accelerate to keep moving through the turn, or to keep moving through the now green light there is a lag of 2-5 seconds where the car just does NOTHING. The accelerator can be pressed clear to the floor and the car just sits there not moving There is also a significant lag when resuming the previously set speed with the cruise control."

Anonymous, VA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"THERE IS A PAUSE WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER A STOP, OR AFTER SLOWING DOWN."

C J., ID (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Rides nicely. Handles very well. It goes where I want it to go."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"It could use more power, despite having the best acceleration in its class. However, it is smooth, quiet, maneuverable, safe, and very pleasant to drive and ride in."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Average"

Anonymous, GA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"works well in traffic and getting into traffic. Not a hot rod or performance car, but that is not what I was looking for"

Robert Z., NC (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The transmission shifting is not as smooth as my 2011 sienna."

Paul E., MD (2018 Toyota Sienna)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Compared to my 2011 sienna it is quieter and has a softer ride"

Paul E., MD (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Good"

Anonymous, GA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Seats could be more comfortable. Side bolsters are too pronounced. I must use a moderately thick cushion to raise the seating position slightly so that the bolsters do not dig into my thighs uncomfortable. I am 5’7‿ tall and weigh 200#. My derrière is skinny and not any wider than average."

Anonymous, PA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Seats are fairly comfortable, I wish the armrest angle adjusted on the other seats (driver only). Lumbar support on driver seat seems a bit low and the minimum setting is still fairly firm. Vehicle handling is poor - it floats around on the road. Run-flat tires are terrible."

Anonymous, CO (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Very Comfortable ride, quiet, Made a couple trips this year and no problems doing 600 miles in a day"

Robert Z., NC (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Outstanding lumbar support from driver's seat. Good road feedback from suspension system (i.e., not too soft a ride, which I prefer)."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Spacious and comfortable for entering and exiting the vehicle. Ride is comfortable and seating accommodates grandchildren."

Gary M., FL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The seats are comfortable. Very little noise. The ride is smooth."

Dennis I., MN (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Great seats of course. Ride very comfortable"

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"have cloth seats which are very confortable, minium road noise an smooth ride"

Anonymous, WI (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Very quiet compared to a 2013 Toyota Sienna Limited, probably due to acoustic glass added to the 2018 model. Very comfortable for long highway trips."

T H., AR (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Amazing room, comfort, and convenience. Didn't expect it to drive so nicely. Very nice to ride in for the family."

Anonymous, UT (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Very roomy for my family"

Anonymous, GA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Seat comfort: Good, ride: not good"

Anonymous, GA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Cloth seats are the best. Ride is great - quite, firm, confident, good power, excellent braking, great AC, audio."

Curtis L., OK (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The Sienna is very roomy and convenient for moving all of our pets. There was a recent TV news article on the safety features of the Sienna, especially for the driver. I see the car used at many senior facilities to transport people."

Anonymous, WY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Visibility is great, easy access to all areas, can carry anything we need to pack."

Anonymous, AZ (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Much more comfortable and quiet than I was expecting. We recently took a 1200 mile round-trip beach road trip and we were so thrilled with how comfortable the Sienna made the trip. As a side note, the way the cargo area is designed really maximizes how we can fit luggage and we fit a ton a stuff in that back of this van."

Nathan H., OH (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"For the top-of-the-line limited edition, the front passenger seat isn't very good. Weird that the middle passenger seats (the kids seats) are better than "mom's seat." Would be nice to have cooled seats."

John B., CA (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"I have the XLE model. The seats are leather but the material seems hard and not as comfortable as other cars I have had."

Joe C., OR (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Roomy. Easy access."

William J., WI (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Even after a 12 hour drive, no discomfort and exhaustion. Also we've had multiple, unsolicited comments about the comfort of the second row captain's chairs."

Lesley H., AZ (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"great acceleration, ride is almost as smooth as in the 2005 Town & Country LTD. The Sienna should have larger, fatter tires."

Anonymous, NY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"All wheel drive has more road noise than I would like"

Gary K., NY (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"More comfortable and roomier than out 2008 Sienna Limited. Quieter also."

Philip C., FL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Used Costco auto discount, Toyota end of model year $2500 discount, and Toyota Mobility discount rebate of $1000. This vehicle was purchased to transport a person with orthopedic disability, and the Toyota factory Auto Access Seat was a deciding factor and much better value than converting to a wheelchair van."

Anonymous, TX (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Had to go to higher trim level to get safety features I wanted. Other makes had them at entry or lower levels of trim."

Anonymous, WI (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"The van listed for over $40,000. Small items like door protectors and crime strip are expensive."

Sheldon H., IN (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"It was the only van with AWD"

Anonymous, UT (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Much, much better delivered price than I could get on a similar Honda Odyssey."

Anonymous, OH (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"I purchased a modified version of the van, it has a lowered floor for a wheelchair with an in floor ramp. It was quite a bit more expensive for that."

S W., NC (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"To get leather seats, we had to get a large upgraded package or pay a lot more."

Marcia M., IL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Our 2018 Sienna XLE cost within a few dollars of our 2008 Sienna Limited shen it was new. And it has many more features, is quieter and more comfortable."

Philip C., FL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Seems like a value since it should last a real long time."

William J., WI (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Good deal"

Anonymous, IL (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Simply the best mini van on the market for the last 12 years. This is our third. The second now doubles as a pick-up/utility vehicle and has over 200,000 miles and going strong. It has been nearly trouble free."

Curtis L., OK (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"Toyota Siennas, past and present, have been very dependable. Good service from Toyota. Lots of room for people and possessions."

Dennis I., MN (2018 Toyota Sienna)

"If you are looking for a vehicle that is reliable, comfortable, spacious, and economical, this is it."
