Volkswagen's midsized sedan was optimized for the American market with the 2012 redesign ; that is to say, it grew larger than most competitors, lost some of that crisp European driving feel, and became less expensive. Since then, continual changes have tweaked and honed the Passat. For 2014, VW replaced the unrefined and thirsty five-cylinder engine with a smooth and responsive 170-hp, 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.

Mark V., NY (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Not worth the price. Poor acceleration and lots of wind noise. Other comparable cars lease price much lower."

Anonymous, WI (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"The car was bought new in the spring of 2018, so the pricing was very attractive with several dealer packs added as part of the deal. As with the 2018 Passat, the adaptive speed control avoided at least two accidents caused by drivers in front abruptly cutting in and decelerating. I don't have any bad things to report, and the fit and finish for the vehicle, which was assembled n Tennessee, was comparable to prior VWs we have owned which were assembled in Germany."

Marcia K., CA (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Price was a real value for the quality and features"

Anonymous, TX (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Lots of features in a large comfortable car."

Anonymous, AZ (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"For the price, I was astonished at how many safety features The 2017 Passat is loaded with. I purchased it for my son who travels to work in Houston’s bumper to bumper, dangerous traffic to get from east Houston to west Houston for his new “fresh out of college‿ job. I am very impressed with the great technology that keeps him safe while driving, especially the voice audio system that replaces texting and making calls while driving, and the automatic stop, and automatic lane correction technology. The car is very roomy, but not too much that it looks like a “granny car‿. The seats are comfortable and easily controlled with automatic settings. Although the Jetta has more of a sporty look, the Passat is a better choice for him, as he is also newly married and will be starting a family soon. The Passat provides him with a safe, affordable, attractive, roomy car, loaded with today’s auto technology which is very important for the twenty-something year olds who are starting their career and family. Time will tell about the 2017 Passat model regarding dependability, but Volkswagen also provides a pretty good warranty, thereby indicating that they will stand by their “re-designed‿ Passat."

Wendelyn D., TX (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Great technology. Has all the modern electronic driving aids. Very comfortable. Hugh back seat. V6 is very quick. Like DSG (dual clutch transmission) with paddle shiftters."

Anonymous, CO (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Purchased at the end of the 2017 model year just as 2018 models were arriving. Listed approximately $6000 below sticker. In addition to the styling features, the R-Line has Android Auto, auto climate control and many premium-level features."

Matthew N., OH (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"The car is a steal for the price paid. Better than expected fuel mileage, looks more expensive than the price would lead you to believe. I like the conservative styling both inside and out- easy to look at and to use"

Kevin C., MO (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"Great value for a spacious car Large trunk space I have the SEL version... Every bell and whistle works well.. Good handling"

Elvin Y., CA (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"good valvue"

Shirley K., FL (2017 Volkswagen Passat)

"My VW looks like an Audi A6 or A4. It is the midrange mood del, came with all bells & whistles—leatherette seats that are been better than leather, all the excellent safety features, great sound, classic style—totally the German classy feel at a fraction of price of Audi or Mercedes. Extremely roomy. People compliment on the car, they think it’s much more expensive than it was. Much better value than the Camry or other sedans."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Volkswagen Passat)
