The XC60 is quick, pleasant and benefited from Volvo's latest safety advances of the time. While handling is sound and secure, the mid-sized SUV is not exactly sporty to drive. Further, fuel economy is mediocre and some controls are not intuitive. While interior fit and finish are impressive, rear-seat room is only sufficient.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"Acceleration and responsive handling. Drive more like a sedan rather than an SUV. Marked improvement overXC90. It should be noted that XC90 has since added back T5 and T6 options"

Charles A., TX (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Performs well"

Anonymous, TX (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Feels solid, secure handling. Transmission tuned for fuel efficiency, often upshifts before engine's turbo engages. This make it feel heavy."

Anonymous, TN (2014 Volvo XC60)

"The acceleration is more than adequate and it still gets pretty good mileage."

Ken K., PA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"My previous Volvo was a 2000 XC-70. It had a turbocharged engine so was better on acceleration, and it had a lower profile which made cornering better. The 2014 XC-60 isn't a turbo. It gets better gas mileage, but handles more like a SUV than a sports car. Money was a definite factor in the purchase of the XC-60 (I shared the XC-70 with my sister and her husband). The XC-60 was a used car, and I definitely feel that I got good value for my money. On road trips,a turbo would have made passi"

C H., CO (2014 Volvo XC60)

"For a heavy vehicle it accelerates quickly and has a smooth transmission. The steering is very responsive and the visibility and driver warning system makes it a very safe vehicle"

MIKE O., WA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"same as the 2016 XC60"

Anonymous, IA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"The car has a very good acceleration and handles very well, Possible the best I had in any of my other cars that I have previously own {BMW X3, MB 300 SD, MB 190 D}"

Anonymous, FL (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Overall good experience. Stealing is heavy but feels good."

Anonymous, TN (2014 Volvo XC60)

"T6 accelerates very well, while being frugal on gas. Ride is a bit stiff, but very controlled."

Robert C., NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Unlike my previous Volvo, an 2000 XC-70, my 2014 Volvo XC-60 is not a turbo and doesn't have the same acceleration, so I'm more cautious in passing on two-lane roads. The trade-off is that it gets about 30 mpg on the highway, so I'm o.k. with that. The handling is tight and responsive, an absolute must in my choice of cars. I bought the XC-60 used, on a limited budget. With unlimited money, I'd buy an XC-60 turbo. I drive a lot on mountain roads in bad weather, so the excellent handling and performance in poor road conditions make me glad I chose this vehicle."

C H., CO (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Vrrrrooooooom!!!"

Doug Y., VA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"adaptive cruise control - makes freeway driving a much less tense experience knowing that the vehicle will automatically maintain the proper distance behind other vehicles; works EXCEPTIONALLY well"

Anonymous, MI (2014 Volvo XC60)

"plenty of power available on demand, responsive wheel control, sense of solidity on highway"

Anonymous, MA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"The handling is great. The car responds perfectly to the driver's command. As for acceleration, I can 'get out of the hole' if I need to, without too much competition."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Had 2013 XC90 which was underpowered. Only available with standard 6 cylinder engine. No T5 or T6 opinions. Since my wife is the primary driver she complained of acceleration problems. Finally, we upgrades to XC60 T6 and it's been wonderful"

Charles A., TX (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Great ride quiet interior"

Anonymous, TX (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Very comfortable ride. Extremely quiet. Friend who have ridden in it have expressed how comfortable the ride is."

JOHN T., AZ (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Low profile tires look great but reduce ride comfort"

JOHN D., NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

"most comfortable seats I've ever had in a vehicle"

JOHN K., NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

"The wipers are too noisy and the fan is too noisy."

AMY G., QC (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Ride is hard"

VINCENT D., NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Back support, sense of stability & security"

Anonymous, MA (2014 Volvo XC60)

"The Volvo is mechanically excellent. The acceleration is immediate and powerful, and the comfort is excellent. I will tell you the absolute worst part of a Volvo, past and present. The noise is literally deafening when the windows are down. HORRIFIC!!! ...and disappointing for such a vehicle."

Anonymous, NY (2014 Volvo XC60)

"This automobile is extremely comfortable. Smooth and quiet."

Anonymous, MD (2014 Volvo XC60)

"rear seat leg room is skimpy when the front seat passengers are tall."

Samuel J., AL (2014 Volvo XC60)

"I'm extremely happy with the comfort of my XC60, and my passengers (often strangers carpooling to group hikes) comment favorably on how comfortable the car is. I do not find the ride stiff, and I like the responsiveness of the XC-60 on twisty roads and in bad weather. I drove in the mountains in snowstorms, rain, and hail frequently in the last 12 months, and the car handled perfectly."

C H., CO (2014 Volvo XC60)

"i am 6'4'' tall, car very uncomfortable, car has elevated road noise, very uncomfortable seats"

Anonymous, ME (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Front seats are very comfortable. However the dead pedal (left foot rest) is not large enough for my foot. Rear leg room is very limited."

Anonymous, TN (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Very stylish. Simple, elegant, minimalist, yet solid and comfortable."

Kevin F., TX (2014 Volvo XC60)

"Very comfortable. Little noise. smooth ride."

Doug Y., VA (2014 Volvo XC60)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"I feel I bought a safe vehicle. I use the adaptive cruise control everyday on the beltway driving to work. The car makes me feel safe with the AWD when we get 1 or 2" of snow on the highway, getting me home safely. Volvo was one of the first to come out with Blis which I trust better than my turning my head to see who is trying to pass me. The back up camera warning when you are backing out warns you if someone is driving near your rear. I also like the city scape. I drifted off at a red li"

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Looks great- drives well on highway-comfortable - but my wife, who is shorter than I, companies passenger side is difficult to get into due to seat height - She usually takes out Corolla for local trips."

G S B., NY (2014 Volvo XC60)
