Maureen Mahoney is a Policy Analyst in Consumers Reports’ San Francisco office. Her areas of focus include state data privacy, security, and data breach notification legislation; state right to repair legislation; and robocalls policy. In 2018, she testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee Hearing on “Do Not Call: Combating Robocalls and Caller ID Spoofing.” At Consumer Reports, she has authored two policy briefs, “Dialing Back: How Phone Companies Can End Unwanted Robocalls” and “Errors and Gotchas: How Credit Report Errors and Unreliable Credit Scores Hurt Consumers,” and co-authored CR’s Right to Repair Model State Law. Maureen completed her undergraduate work at The University of Chicago and received an M.A. and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
