Autos Tester & Writer
Expertise: Cars

As you might guess, Mike Quincy is a dyed-in-the-wool "car guy." At CR's test track, he writes automotive articles for both Consumer Reports magazine and CR.org. He also works with data analysts to make sure that all the automotive data and information is up to date for Consumer Reports, CR.org, and Consumer Reports Special Publications. Mike participates in the hands-on testing of all cars, assists in editing the monthly automotive technical reports, runs the CR Cars Facebook page, and writes scripts for and appears in CR's road-test videos. He also has purchased more than 140 cars for the CR test program and appears regularly on CR's "Talking Cars" podcast.

He has been extensively interviewed in the media and has appeared in national and cable broadcasts, including NBC's "Today," "Good Morning America," "CBS Evening News," Cheddar, CNN, MSNBC, and "Fox & Friends." Mike is regularly quoted in national and local newspapers and on websites, and consistently appears on numerous national and local radio broadcasts.

Mike's first automotive journalism job started with Automobile Magazine in 1989. He joined Consumer Reports in 1993 and wrote automotive, home electronics, and exercise equipment articles for the magazine, contributed to all New Car Buying Guide and Used Car Buying Guide publications, and was an online source for automotive content for CR.org.

Outside of work, Mike has successfully ridden in eight Pass-Mass Challenge cancer fundraising bike rides, raising more than $71,000 and pedaling (literally) hundreds of miles. He also taught himself how to bake bread and is a mix-master of top-notch craft cocktails.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS:
"The best piece of advice when you're shopping for a car: Don't fall in love. This will make you irrational, and you'll likely spend more than you should."
