Kitchenaid stoves/ovens - not good

Pros
none
Cons
Electronic Failures
Expensive Failures

Comment:
Kitchenaid stoves have complex electronics in them that fail frequently and disable your stove. DO NOT use the self-cleaning feature as this accelerates electronic failures. My stove has three electronic conrol boards, and all three have now failed at different times over the last 12 months.

Comment:
The thermal fuse tends to blow when you use the self-cleaning feature. Kitchen-Aid is well aware of the problem, but their solution has been to quintuple the price of replacement fuses.

Comment:
I regret ever purchasing this product. The very first time I ran the cleaning cycle- about 2 months after I purchased it, the fuse blew. Since it was under warranty, I had it replaced and tolerated the nasty service repair person provided by the retailer.
A couple of months later, it happened again. I replace that one myself. A major hassle because you have to pull the oven out of the wall.
I was hesitant to use the cleaning cycle after that but when I did it worked OK.
However, each time I use the cleaning cycle, I shiver in anticipation that it may fail. Yesterday it died again.
This morning I called KitchenAid customer service and was booted directly to order the part.
I was told that since it is out of warranty , I can't get a discount and that there is no fuse just a thermo coupler.
This is a well known( at this point) problem that Kitchen Aid still pretends doesn't exist.
The themostat has always been way off (about 50 degrees below what it is supposed to be), so I 'd say apart from looking decent, it is a totally unreliable appliance. Buy any other brand!
