I have 4 of the seats, two in each vehicle for my 18 mo old and 4 yr old (Volks Wagen Jetta sedan, and Chevy Silvardo truck). I bought two in 2010 so I have had these seats for 3 years and they have held up nicely. I inspect them every 6 months. Yes it is difficult to install untill you get used to it, although now I can install in 5 min. I can get a completly snug fit forward facing LATCH in no time and I'm a 4'11, 120lb woman. Rear facing takes some additional work but with the right towels it sits at the correct angle and I can get it secured properly. Although my 250lb husband still can't seem to get them in there tight. There is very little padding but this has never been a problem. Our girls sleep just fine in the long car rides. You just can't beat the cost and excellent crash test rating. These are the most important to me. It can be a little hard to tighten the straps especially if you acidently tangle the LATCH system strap with the belt straps which I have done. I just had to take it out and untangle. I would definately buy these again and did. I bought the second two in 2012.

I have two of these and two Sunshine Kids Radian car seats. I bought the Radian's for our main vehicle and the Cosco's for my husband's pickup that the children occasionally ride in. Radian's are known to be the only seats that are made of steel and can hold children in a 5-point harness up to 85 lbs. But I have come to love Cosco's much more than the Radian's, to the point where I have now made the Cosco's our main seats! They are SO MUCH EASIER TO INSTALL than any other brand I've used (Radian, Britax, and Chicco). They cinch snugly for a super-tight fit and don't move a bit! All other brands wiggle somewhat, even in the tightest of situations. My children (ages 3 & 5) also find the Cosco's much more comfortable than other brands. Despite their lack of much padding and all the bells and whistles, these seats sit at a comfortable angle and my children's heads aren't forced to hang forward while they sleep, which is saying a lot! ALL other carseats are simply so upright that the children are forced to sleep in a perfectly upright seated position. Making the base of the seat plastic instead of foam was also brilliant for Cosco. In case of accidents (and they WILL happen), clean-up is a breeze! Save yourself $200 and get the Cosco!

We looked long for a new seat for Grandson. Daughter has a good, expensive car seat. We looked at CR reports and found this at [@]. VERY LOW cost, there is a reason! POOR PADDING, and the straps to secure the seat are terrible and hard to get tight enough to feel the child is secure. The 'expensive' seat, when you tie it down, you can barely wiggle it, this one seems to stay kind of loose. I am 6'6 with plenty of weight to pull the straps, not a normal old skinny grandparent. Sorry, I like the comfort of better padding, and the security of a better retention. The little cost is not worth the great risk for us. Precious CARGO!
