Dry-erase paint promises to turn walls into whiteboards

Consumer Reports News: December 01, 2010 02:08 PM

IdeaPaint HOME will supposedly transform any clean, stable surface in your home into a dry-erase canvas, perfect for abstract drawings or complex math equations. No kids in the nest? Use the paint to create a message board in the kitchen or home office. Consumer Reports hasn't tested IdeaPaint HOME, but its manufacturer claims the two-part, water-based coating works on walls, doors, tabletops, and even appliances. It's available in kits that cover 6 square feet for $30 or 20 square feet for $60.

Our paint experts have evaluated some other specialty paints, including chalkboard, crackle, metallic, and textured paint.
