To get the best deals on whatever you need for your home, committing to a single store hardly sounds like a wise long-term strategy. But Lowe's today launched a new online initiative it hopes will add enough convenience that you won't want to shop anywhere else.
Called MyLowe's, it's an online tool that lets you compile a home profile with room dimensions and product assignments. Particulars on purchases such as interior-paint formulas, flooring, and carpeting get stored, and you can assign wish lists by room.
Besides a purchase history, the site will keep track of warranty information and provide ready access to electronic versions of those product manuals you've boxed away. Still to come are tools for room design, sharing, and subscription purchases of routinely needed accessories such as water and air filters. Also, of course, a mobile app.
We're not sure if it'll live up to its claim to "revolutionize, customize and simplify home improvement" but you may want to take note of some of Lowe's products that have done well in Consumer Reports' Ratings. Valspar, Lowe's paint brand, consistently makes our recommended paint list and two grills sold at Lowe's are on our list of recommended gas grills. Lowe's Surface Source Winchester Oak 2765 flooring is a CR Best Buy and there are two Whirlpool Gold water filters from Lowe's on our list of recommended water filters.
