Nissan recalls more than 79,000 Infiniti M sedans, Infiniti QX SUVs and Nissan Juke crossovers

Consumer Reports News: February 27, 2012 10:08 AM

Nissan North America is recalling about 79,275 Infiniti sedans and SUVs as well as Nissan Juke vehicles for possible fuel tank leakage from an improperly installed fuel pressure sensor said the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

According to NHTSA, certain 2011-2012 models of the Infiniti M sedan, the Infiniti QX sport-utility vehicle and the Nissan Juke crossover might have improperly tightened fuel pressure sensors in the vehicles' fuel tanks. Over time, these fuel tanks' sensors may loosen due to heat and vibration, causing a fuel leak and increasing the risk of a fire.

Nissan will notify its customers affected by this recall in March. Owners of recalled Infiniti M, Infiniti QX and Nissan Juke crossover vehicles will be instructed to bring their vehicle into local dealerships where mechanics will replace the fuel pressure sensors for free.

For more information, consumers can call Nissan customer service (615-725-1000) or visit the NHTSA website:
