Amazon Fire 7 (8GB) tablet

A smaller tablet from Amazon with a 6.9-inch screen and WiFi internet only, running on the Fire OS 5.1 operating system. Uses the Amazon app store for downloading apps. Tested with 8GB of storage.


The Amazon Fire 7 (8GB) is a smaller tablet computer with a 6.9-inch screen. It has relatively coarse screen resolution, 172 pixels per inch. The rectangular screen is a better shape for videos than for photos.

The tablet has an ARM Cortex processor with 4 cores. It runs on the Fire OS 5.1 operating system. It has 1GB memory and is available with 8 or 16GB storage. You can add a microSD memory card for more storage.

There is a headphone jack with a volume control, a built-in microphone, and a mono speaker. Internet connectivity is via WiFi. It has a 0.3-megapixel webcam, and a 1.5-megapixel camera, and "Kid-Proof Case" available to cushion agains drops. Also available in a kids' edition ($100) including case, preinstalled apps, and 2-year unconditional warranty.

The tablet measures 7.5 inches long by 4.5 inches wide by 0.4 inches thick, and weighs 0.69 pounds.
