Pre-Black Friday Deals

Arlo Pro 2 Multi-Camera Starter Kits
The deal:
$280 for two-camera kit at Best Buy, $400 for four-camera kit at Best Buy, $700 for six-camera kit at Best Buy
CR’s test results: Arlo Pro 2
The Arlo Pro 2 is one of our highest-rated wireless security cameras, with superb ratings for video quality and data security. Unlike some other security cameras, the Arlo Pro 2 uses a base station and allows you to add multiple cameras to watch different areas of your home. A two-camera kit lists for $400, making these two-, four-, and six-camera kits from Best Buy well worth the money. The best bang for your buck though is the four-camera kit, which brings the cost of each camera down to just $100. These deals end Nov. 10.

Canary Flex Security Camera
The deal: $130 at Amazon and Best Buy
CR’s test results: Canary Flex
At $70 off list price, the Canary Flex is a decent camera for the money. It’s video quality is just okay, but it receives a Very Good rating for data privacy. It doesn’t offer as many smart features as competing cameras, though. The Best Buy deal ends Nov. 10, but it’s unclear when the Amazon deal will end.

Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell
The deal: $200 with six months of free video storage at Costco, $229 with a free Google Nest Hub at Home Depot
CR’s test results: Google Nest Hello, Google Nest Hub
The Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell is one of the best doorbells in our ratings, with terrific video quality and fast response time for motion alerts and doorbell button presses. This doorbell usually costs $229, so Costco is knocking $29 off the doorbell’s list price and including six months of the 5-day Nest Aware storage plan (worth $30). Home Depot isn’t discounting the price, but the free Google Nest Hub smart display is worth $129. With the Nest Hub, you can use Google Assistant to see and speak with guests at your front door from the Hub’s screen. The Costco deal ends Nov. 14, while the Home Depot deal ends Nov. 27. If you aren’t interested in the extras offered by Costco and Home Depot, consider waiting for Target’s deal starting Nov. 28 for this doorbell (more details below).

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (2nd Gen)
The deal: $250 for a three-pack at Costco
CR’s test results: Ring Stick Up Cam (2nd gen)
Even though Amazon just released a newer version of this camera, the second-generation Ring Stick Up Cam is still worth considering. It receives an Excellent rating for response time and offers decent video quality too. Costco is selling a three-pack of the battery-powered version of the camera for $250, which is a whopping $290 off the original list price and $50 less than a three-pack of the newer model from Amazon. It’s unclear when this deal will end.

Ring Video Doorbell 2
The deal: $130 at Target, $139 at Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Ring Video Doorbell 2
The Ring Video Doorbell 2 offers decent video quality and a good array of smart features, including monitoring zones and voice control via Amazon Alexa. This doorbell usually lists for $200, making these $70 to $80 discounts a great bargain. If you buy it at Target, you will also have the option to buy an Amazon Echo Show 5 smart display (usually $90) for just $10. CR has not tested the Echo Show 5 smart display, though. The Lowe’s and Target deals end Nov. 10, but it’s unclear when the other deals will end.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro Bundle With Chime Pro and Amazon Echo Show 5
The deal:
$180 at Best Buy
CR’s test results: Ring Video Doorbell Pro
The Ring Video Doorbell Pro isn’t the greatest doorbell in our ratings, but this bundle with a doorbell chime and Echo Show 5 smart display (worth $390 total at list price) is a fantastic deal. The doorbell rates Very Good for response time, but its video quality is lackluster. CR has not tested the Echo Show 5 smart display. This deal ends Nov. 10.

SimpliSafe Home Security System
The deal: $140 for 11-piece kit at Costco, $150 for 7-piece kit at Best Buy
CR’s test results: SimpliSafe Home Security System
The SimpliSafe security system is a top-performer in our DIY security system ratings, with a solid score for security essentials and an Excellent rating for ease of setup. A 6-piece SimpliSafe starter kit lists for $270, but Costco is offering an 11-piece starter kit (with six contact sensors for doors and windows) for $140—you’re getting almost double the components for half the price. If you’re not a Costco member, check out Best Buy’s deal on a 7-piece kit for $150. The Best Buy deal ends Nov. 10, while the Costco deal ends Dec. 2.

TP-Link Kasa Cam
The deal: $65 at Amazon and Best Buy
CR’s test results: TP-Link Kasa Cam
The TP-Link Kasa Cam offers fantastic performance, with exceptional scores for video quality and response time, as well as a Very Good rating for data privacy. It lists for $80, which means the savings here aren’t huge, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a competing camera this good at such a low price. The Best Buy deal ends Nov. 10, but it’s unclear when the Amazon deal will end.
