I bought the unit in 9/2012 and it failed within 2 weeks. The company sent a replacement which failed 1 year later. It is designed so poorly that cleaning requires the complete disassembly of the whole unit and the drainage method is so convoluted that failure is bound to occur. <br /><br />The company's return policy makes no sense as you pay to ship it back, but the cost makes it an inane position.

I have had bad luck with many dehumidifiers that die after one summer, occasionally lasting two. I had hoped for better with this unit, but here I am one year after purchase with a worthless device that simply does not function. The unit displays a frequent P1 code (you can read about this infamous Sunpentown code on the web), meaning it is frozen up and must defrost. When the unit is working (I use the term loosely), it simply no longer takes moisture out of the air. Useless. I've had it with unreliable dehumidifiers designed to break after one season, and from now on will only buy from stores like Costco where I *know* I can have a relatively hassle-free return.

Overall, a great unit. Looks nice, has a built in re-useable dust filter for the fan. The bucket holds quite a bit of water, but on a humid day this unit will fill it daily. Yes, it is a little noisy and loud, but this unit really moves the air, helping to ensure good moisture removal. It even has a turbo setting that runs the fan even faster for more circulation in larger areas. The controls are easy to use, the built in bucket is nice, it can be set up to drain to a floor drain. Plus, its lasted at least two trouble free years. Only cons are the bucket can be hard to seat properly, it rolls VERY easily so it wants to move when pushing the bucket into place. Otherwise very happy with it.
