Wood Stains

The paintlike qualities of solid, or opaque, stains hold up the longest overall; the best should last three to five years.

These stains color the wood but let the grain peek through. But the best in our Ratings aren't as tough as solid stains and may last only two to three years.

These pigment-less sealers protect wood from water and accentuate the beauty of natural grain wood. But without protection from the sun's ultraviolet rays, the wood will eventually turn gray. And you'll need to restain annually.
