Comment:
We had this for 13 months and it washes well and is very quiet. Unfortunately, the labels on the capacitive controls are starting to rub off and it makes unit look cheap. Eventhough it's a month out of warranty the Bosch rep and the store manager at ABT electronics are replacing the controls at no cost. We only use a soft sponge with dish soap to clean all our appliances.

This is a great dishwasher, on so many levels. I use that 3rd shelf every day. It is great for holding small utensils and little prep plates, dog and cat food can lids, spatulas and whisks, etc. I read the reviews and the folks that complained that it didn't dry dishes didn't do their research. This dishwasher is so energy efficient it's crazy. It is true that it doesn't have a heating element inside the cabinet, but it doesn't need one. The water is heated going in, and the dishwasher is over insulated. The heat from the water heats up the dishes and the heat they project dries the water off (this is the same way your clothes dryer works, the clothes are heated, not the water in them). Leave the dishes sitting for a few hours in the dishwasher after the cycle is completed and bingo, your dishes are dry. Plastic does not absorb heat well, so your plastic cups and storage bowls may not dry completely as quickly as your stoneware dishes will. I get a lot of dishes below and cups and storage bowls in the cup shelf, laying down the fins makes it easy to fit in large and odd sized pieces. Love the fold down plates in the cup shelf, they hold wine glasses safely. If I remember correctly, a very full load of dishes uses only 2.5 gallons of water, ideal for these drought times in CA. You would use more water than that doing them by hand at the end of the day (or 2, since the 2 of us don't usually run the washer every day.) Easy peasy to remove the filter and run it under water once in a while. The best thing you can do to ensure a long life with this gem is to run a dishwasher cleaning once a month. You'll be happy together for a long time.

We bought this to replace an older dishwasher that came with our house, and have had it almost a year. So far it is much better. It is very quiet; it is loudest when draining. I love the top flatware rack, although my husband hasn't figured out how to use it yet. The upper rack is pretty easy to adjust, but I don't find the flip-down cup shelves work. Although it doesn't have a heated dry, if we let things sit for a few hours (like if you start it when going to bed) most things are dry when we remove them.

We scrape rather than rinse, which has not been a problem as I almost never have food residue on dishes or glasses. I have not been impressed with the cleaning of pots and pans with cooked-on food. I usually end up hand washing to get the bits that were left over. And I wish the top rack was adjustable, as kitchen accessories like whisks won't fit and items with large handles don't fit well either.

Overall we're very happy with our purchase, but it is not the perfect machine.
