Comment:
I have a SilencePlus 44 dba which, I presume, is similalr to the tested model. I haven't had a Bosch before, but their dishwashers get good reviews. A friend who has one hasn't indicated that there are any issues with it.

There are only two in our family, so we use a dishwasher about once per week, with a full load. After several uses I called the technician out for two reasons. First, after every complete cycle the dish trays are literally dripping wet and the walls of the unit were beaded with moisture. Secondly, on one occasion, when I turned the unit on, it showed that it was programed for automatic, half-load, sanitize. I wanted normal and full load, so attempted to press those options. Nothing happened. I turned the unit on and off several times but was still unable to reset the options.

The technician explained that having wet dish trays and walls is to be expected since there is no heating element in the unit. I thought the command to use Finish Jet Dry was a clever marketing ploy. However, it's essential. Jet Dry is a surfactant that helps the water slide off the dishes so that dishes don't spot and aren't completely wet when the cycle completes. With this unit, to get dry dishes, you open the door so that they can drip-dry. Older models had a heaing element. The Bosch I'm familiar with is an older model. We prerinse all of our dishes. If we wanted to hand dry them, we wouldn't need a dishwasher at all.

The most disturbing part, though, is that the trade-off for energy efficiency is a chemical residue left on dishes from the surfactant. No thank you.

After learning this, I didn't even bother to ask the technician about programing. From other reviews I see that I'm not the only one with the problem.

I would give this product no stars if that were an option. I'm calling to have it replaced.

Comment:
When working the product does as described in the instruction booklet. It is quiet efficient. But for the second year of ownership it became frustrating to start the dishwasher. The electronics panel refused to follow key/button inputs. Eventually the electronics simply froze and would not shut off and restart. Very frustrating after following a usually reliable Consumer Reports recommendation. Never again on that score.

Comment:
I use this product daily, sometimes twice daily. After two years, there is a problem with the circuit computer. This part is under warranty, what is not is labor and diagnostics which are over $250 to repair. Bosch will not send you the part to let you try to fix yourself, they will only provide it via warranty if installed by their installer. Very unreliable, wish I hadn't followed consumer reports review. my advice, find something cheap that looks nice and does a decent job, then if it breaks you just replace it.
