The Frigidaire Gallery FGHD2472PF is part of the dishwasher
test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, dishwasher
models like the Gallery FGHD2472PF are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
Assessed by running the normal or equivalent cycle to clean a full load--10 place settings of very dirty dishes that were scraped but not rinsed. We examine the dishes and glassware for residual food after cleaning.
For a normal cycle. The largest portion is needed for heating water, both at the water heater and in the machine.
Judged during fill, wash, and drain, mainly by a listening panel.
About This Brand
This brand is sold mostly at big-box stores, Independent appliance stores, and other national retailers for $300 to $800; the company also makes the Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional lines. Frigidaire is known for its least expensive models. It introduced a gray-colored speckled stainproof tub and the Sahara Dry technology on it's models. Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux.
Ample flatware slots Flatware baskets with lids provide individual slots for most of the utensils in our silverware load. Such lids prevent "nesting" and thus improve flatware cleaning. It is more time-consuming to load the cutlery into individual slots, though, so you can remove the lids if you prefer.

Adjustable upper rack Most models hold cups and glasses on the top rack, plates on the lower rack, and silverware in a basket. The ability to adjust the upper rack up or down an inch or so allows for more flexibility in loading items such as tall glasses.

Sensor A sensor adjusts water usage and cycle time to the amount of soil on the dishes. This should make a dishwasher use water more efficiently, but we found that wasn't always the case. Moreover, a sensor can increase a machine's running time.
Self-cleaning filter A filter that cleans itself is convenient, but it can add to noise. Note that it's often the costly foreign brands that lack self-cleaning filters and require periodic manual cleaning of the filter.
Hidden controls Controls along the top edge of the door contribute to a sleeker look. Some models hide all controls; others hide only some controls.
Interior material A dishwasher's interior, which includes the inside of the door, could be made of stainless steel, plastic, or a combination of the two--such as a plastic door and stainless sides and bottom. Unlike a plastic interior, an all-stainless interior won't discolor, but it does increase the cost of a dishwasher by about $100.
Stainless/SS-look option Stainless steel is stylish, but it shows fingerprints. Another option: a vinyl-covered metal finish that gives you a stainless-steel look but resists smudging.
Replaced a 15 year old dishwasher with this one and haven't had a problem with it. Had it a little over a year now. Quiet, cleans well, guess the biggest problem would be it doesn't dry extremely well unless you use the Sahara setting.

Frigidaire Service Center
After owning this appliance for less than a week, it was NOT FUNCTIONAL. It averages down time approximately every two months. And once broken, it takes 2-3 weeks to have repaired.

Issues have been varied. Listing only the top three:
Excessive leaking twice because of a faulty seal
Arm on bottom disconnecting from dishwasher
Mother board equivalent going out twice leaving dishwasher non-functional.

When I called to file the last claim under the warranty, the Frigidaire representative stated that I really needed to buy their extended warranty because their products really don't work well outside of the warranty period. Interesting. Can you imagine how much fun this appliance is going to be for the rest of its Frigidaire life??

Within a week of buying the extended warranty, I had another breakdown. When I called the service center, they stated that I had not paid for the extended warranty even though I was able to provide the Extended Service Agreement Contract Number as well as the credit card used AND date of purchase. I had to go up the chain of command 5 levels and was transferred twice and called back three times to get the issue resolved. It took 2 days for them to verify I had paid. Meanwhile, I still was without a functioning dishwasher.

My Frigidaire is broken again for the last 8 days and the serviceman left telling me he would need to order a part and he'd see me next week.

I signed up for Consumer Reports today because I am buying another dishwasher and don't want to go through this again. What an unbelievable hassle dealing with Frigidaire has been.

I hate this dishwasher
I hate this dishwasher more than any appliance I've every owned. In just over 1 year the racks are rusting and the countdown and clean indicator lights don't work anymore. Its not very quite and the bottom rack doesn't roll smoothly. I will never buy another dishwasher from Frigidaire.
