This particular mixer is used for the lighter, average and quick work in the kitchen. It is accompanied with at 325 watt Artisan as well as a 1.3HP Commercial model. The things that I believe people miss when they buy and rate this product/model is that you need to purchase appropriately for the level in which you intend to use on a regular and skill use basis. For heavy, large batches of work on any regular basis you will push this guy to its workload capacity, that it really was not intended to do. This Classic model is the first go to choice in our home gourmet kitchen. For more thick jobs at a smaller capacity, the Artisan comes out. For breads, bagels, and triple batch work the commercial model makes an appearance. Our Black Classic stays out on the bench all the time and is used on a regular basis. This model was an early 2014 purchase and does an exceptional job - replacing a hand mixer. Remember to work within the capacity and load limit that it was designed to be used. You can't go wrong with a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer!

My recommendation to those folks who are unhappy with the material the whip is made of is to wipe it off with a dishcloth soaked in white vinegar or soak for just a few minutes in white vinegar to see if that gets their current one clean. If not order a new one and make sure you never put it in a dishwasher and never put it in the sink to soak. ONLY rinse with HOT water as soon as you finish with it and set it up to dry. If you have to wash it, do so immediately and rinse well. It's not like it has the germs of someone eating off of it. Mine lasted many years then started turning dark and turning everything black. I ordered a new one and take every precaution suggested in instructions that came with it and it still looks brand new. The new one is three years old and I use it every day for baking. I actually have three Kitchen Aid Mixers ranging from 250 watt to 575 watt. Don't know how I ever lived without them. They make baking and cooking and creating so much FUN!
